Resizing (Shrinking) Custom Number Plate Frames
zhlédnutí 230Před 2 lety
My wife recently came home from work with a pair of number plate frames (the kind that car sales yards put on their cars & most people remove as soon as the get home) but, these frames are for "standard issue" number plates & she has personalised SLIM number plates, which means the frames don't fit her plates. My job was to MAKE them fit... #How To #DIY #Plastic Welding

Making Welding Fixtures (Guides)

Anyone who has any tools usually has a set square of some description, however, when it comes to welding, unless you like repetitive actions (set, tack, check, cut because something moved, repeat the entire process until it's correct), a square doesn't usually help much. What works a lot better is a fixture or guide which can be clamped in place while the tack welding is done to keep everything...

As stated, all the bearings were factory equivalent...
So dumb
Are you saying what I did here is dumb or the price of the genuine part is dumb?
Good detective work dear Watson👍My daughters Barina had the same issue, upgraded to aluminium thermostat housing & 1 inch return hose. Now my mum's Trax has the exact same thing. Shit plastic design connectors & O rings have probably destroyed thousands of otherwise reasonable vehicles.
Bloody legend! Just saved $200 by buying an o ring instead of going to the mechanics
That's what I do, you're welcome & thanks for watching...
Hi thanks for explaining all that
Hey man thanks for showing us the Avalon I might have to also look at my crankshaft bearings
As I mentioned here, I had previously replaced them; I have a 3 parts series you may want to check out...
Okay I'm going to check it out now thank you@@PopllFixit
@@AlloyedFrequencies No Problem, I hope it helps...
What about the very able speed control ??
If I recall correctly, it wasn't affected...
OK mate thanks
Good video mate, I had exactly the same thing same o rings same leaks, 2018 moka, there all a ratly on the injection rail, do you know the size of the o rings on the heater unit? Thank you terry UK.
Off hand, unfortunately, I don't recall. Keep in mind, this was more than five years ago...
Need telephone number
I don't have a welder
Fortunately, welders are not very expensive anymore; you can pick up a half decent mig welder for a couple hundred dollars these days...
Thank you for the explanation
Hey, that's what I do; thanks for watching...
you already had those bolts off how the hell do get the bolt on the back right for that valve please!!!
Yes !
Brackets and P Clamps are a great correct method. I would have just went with some big plastic zip ties. I'm going to do this exact job soon on my 2003 Avalon. Cheers! BTW I too have noticed how car parts have tripled on price the last 10-15 years. It used to be a 25 dollar part.
Glad I could help & thanks for watching
You live in bat country there mate?
It would of been a thousand times easier to just get some 3/4 solid bar stock and machine some flats on the ends and get some used wheels with tires you'd find on many homeowner lawn tractors and slap them on. It would be an upgrade to what you have there.
Not really, for many reasons like: 1. there's a sprocket welded to the axle 2. What you suggested would HAVE taken more time, mainly because this was done on a Saturday when anywhere I could HAVE bought round stock was closed 3. The only thing I have in this repair is 2-3 hours of my time, NO MONEY; following your suggestion would HAVE cost money... ...But, thanks for the feedback & thanks for watching...
To long windeď
I got a 2000 sienna with 222k miles. The slight knock started existing after i raced it one day. Full gas acceleration 0-60
I noticed a slight crank knock 1800-2700rpm under light acceleration ,,, i went agead and noticed the other day when i pushed it to 100% it had dirty oil a year old. And pike 5k miles on oil
I think i got a worn bearing now,,, even though its still sort of otherwise reliable,,, i notice a knock every once in a while. I need to do this fix before i ruin it
A combination of old oil & high RPM will do it; as oil "wears" it gets thinner so, it doesn't do its job as well as it should, combine that with high RPM & the oil can't be circulated quick enough, creating an oil starvation issue... As you probably heard, my issue was LACK OF oil but, the end result is the same... Indeed, fix it before more damage is done & remember to go easy on it for around 500 miles after...
The music can be a bit lower, but good vid
Thanks for the feedback & thanks for watching...
Do you have part numbers by any chance for the heater hoses?
👍
I’m planning to put a cannon muffler on my 1999 pulsar
Well, I hope this helped; thanks for watching...
That's awesome you just made this nice ladys day
Thanks for your info mate your a true blue champion. My Missus car is leaking and Holden reckons it’s the heater hoses and quoted me $498 to replace em. I reckon I’ll give your way a crack as the hoses seem fine it’s most likely the o-rings . Cheers mate
No problem; I hope it works for you; thanks for watching...
did you only do big ends and not mains? if so why not?
I intended to also replace the mains (I even bought the bearings) however, this engine has six bolt main bearing caps, 4 inside the oil pan & one on each side of the block & it wasn't until I tried to remove the side bolts that I realised I couldn't access some of them so, I wasn't going to remove the engine or only replace some of the bearings... Thanks for the question & thanks for watching...
I just got a 2005 echo , looking for a good aftermarket stereo , I still have the factory unit which only has a cassette player on it. 😅
Just a heads-up, DON'T BUY THIS ONE! Around a year after installing this, the USB stopped working so, I WILL BE replacing it in the near future (just as soon as I have a workspace)... If it's in your budget, I recommend Pioneer...
This is the first video I've seen where you remove a perfectly good part! Still this was very informative for my Camry filler neck replacement.
That was the point; A viewer was told the rear subframe had to be removed to do this, this is PROOF that his information was incorrect... Glad you liked it, glad I could help & thanks for watching ...
Ive been watching this series you made, ive got the same issue with my kart. I found your videos very educational. But i think im going to try adding control arms, and shocks on the front of my cart. Im hoping it works out well
Glad I could help, thanks for watching & good luck with your project... If you need any help, let me know...
Can you change the bearings without disassembly?

Great video. Very helpful. Love the music.
Thanks for the feedback & thanks for watching...
Same sound my car is making atm. I notice when I look inside, there's a small clear hose near the battery that seems to be disconnected. No idea where I connect that to. Looked around that area.. stumped.
Unfortunately, this car has since been sold so, I can't check that for you...
Change your oil often and you won't have issues
I did point out in the video that I'm "a bit lax" when it comes to maintenance but, thanks for the (obvious) comment...

Wish you lived close by to fix my scooter
Thanks for the video, really helpful! Also pretty funny but I have both an echo and a black celica, same vintage as your 2.
No problem, that's what I do; thanks for watching. They're not a very common combination so, rare to see someone else with the same cars...
I say Poppy, we spoke recently about the differences between a 3vz-fe and the 1mz-fe. I own an immaculate 92 Lexus ES300 (which I've owned since new by the way) and it appears the valve seals on the 3vz-fe might be in need of replacement. As you might imagine, knowledge and expertise regarding the 3vz-fe is getting a bit thin on the ground nowadays. At your convenince, may I seek your opinions please regarding best plans of attack? Thanking you in advance, Ivan Julian
If possible, make a post in my facebook group & we can discuss it there; that way we're not clogging up the comments section...
Any ideas why my mobility scooter won't move lights and that come on i did need to do the wiring myself to get lights horn to work just won't move tho
As I've previously stated, my only experience with these is what you see in this video so, unfortunately, I can't help...
Wow, I've got exactly the same car, same colour, right down to the paint falling off in the same places. Same tools even. Really interesting to see what's involved in this job, especially those two small bolts underneath that cover which I wouldn't have known they were there. Thanks for doing the hard yards for the rest of us. And going to the trouble of videoing it as well. You're a champion. Thanks.
That's what I do; thanks for watching...
I went to write a comment to thank the big fella for doing the hard yards first, but this one sums it up perfectly. 💪
Nice work. The 3VZ-FE and 1MZ-FE engines are real jewells in the Toyota V6 family. You should have built your own walk in pit to work under the car!
I agree 100%, I've owned both. There's been a raging debate for years as to which is better; for my money, it's the 3VZ... As for building my own pit, there's a number of issues with that, least of which it's not my land &, when you really think about it, a hoist/lift is the easier &, probably, the cheaper option...
Do you need to change the studs on the rear?
We didn't "need" to change any of the wheel studs, that was the choice of the owner...
is this a 2.0 motor?
Yes, it is...
the music sounds like a Joe Satriani rip off XD nice butyl seal install, but where are the door speakers?
Hey, I didn't write or record it, I just use it lol In case you haven't noticed, (&, if you haven't already, check out my other videos in the playlist) this car is the ABSOLUTE BASE model (aka poverty package), NOTHING fancy that isn't NEEDED for the car to function, it didn't even have central locking which is pretty much standard on EVERY OTHER CAR of this vintage, nor does it have ABS (but, strangely, it DOES have a drivers airbag) ; therefore, it has two tiny 4" speakers in the dash... THAT'S IT! However, with a bit of luck & careful planning, that will change in the near future... Thanks for the question & thanks for watching...
What muffler is it I have a 03 with a unequal length header & im trying to sort out a hood exhaust set up & this sounds nice
I don't recall what brand (I really don't think it matters) but, it's just a 2" inlet to 4" outlet cannon style muffler we picked up used from our local exhaust shop. I hope you find something you like & thanks for watching...
I have to know is it still running was it a success I'm about to do this job as well on my 96 v6 Camry
I suggest you watch this czcams.com/video/4r9FoogYyPY/video.html Don't let that put you off, the result I mention only occurred because I'm an idiot...
Love the video :)
Glad you liked it; thanks for watching...
Very creative! Thank you for this.
You're welcome; thanks for watching...
Umm NO. All you needed to do was adjust the throttle housing to work in sequence with the potentiometer.
Thanks for the input... although I have no idea what that means so it wouldn't have helped me when I made this video...
