Here's my favorite quote of moulana abulkalam azad about winter reading (originally in urdu translated by chatgtp) "Shall I tell you what, in my imagination, the best possible life could be? A winter season, with temperatures nearly at freezing point. Night time. High flames blazing in the fireplace. And I, abandoning all the cushions in the room, sitting close to it, engrossed in reading and writing."

What I mean by overlap is that I think many readers would actually enjoy a lot of games, especially where there are strong story elements - that there is an overlap in the things readers enjoy (strong storytelling, narrative directions etc.) that can also be found in a lot of games if they give them a chance! I do really agree with you that gamers and readers do feel like two very separate communities, despite there being similarities. I hope in the future that can change, as I love both communities! Funnily enough, the inspiration for this video came from noticing a lot of booktubers I watch casually mentioning what games they were playing. It makes me think a lot of readers casually play games, but don't go as far as considering themselves as gamers.

I can see what you mean, because readers are such a broad group. I do think RPG gamers are more likely to be readers, but not that readers are likely to be gamers. This has been my experience around both types of friend groups.

Yeah defo RPG gamers are more likely to be readers, as opposed to say primarily FPS gamers! I find a lot of readers are also more likely to be cosy gamers, especially ones who don't read much fantasy/speculative fiction.
