Middleport Flour and Flint Mill #industrial #heritage #canal
The Middleport Flour Mill.
The Middleport Flour Mill was also known as Port Vale Mill, started operating around 1844. It was strategically located along the Trent & Mersey Canal. Initially owned by Samuel Fitton, the mill quickly became a significant player in the local milling industry during the 1840s. Under Fitton’s leadership, the mill not only processed grain but also became a major employer and a prominent feature of Middleport’s industrial landscape.

The mill, especially under the management of Goodwin’s Mill Co. from 1907 onwards, specialized in a fundamental process in pottery making called calcining.

Getting a little practice in for following a mountain bike tomorrow (will be my first attempt) I ended up honing around with these bales. Great fun and a couple of crashes. The whole thing was shot in 2 runs, edited to shorten it. Made with Avata 2 - no speeded up sections, all at flight speed. Hope you enjoy

My wife lived across from the flint mill when we married we lived in Hitchen st and you could listen to the ball mills at night

July 2024,Stoke on Trent has won recognition for its global influence with pottery as a craft.The city has been granted a World Craft City Status based on its social,cultural and economic community contrubutions. Tourists will be flooding this City.
