While waiting for a medical lab appointment I got into a conversation with a current kindergarten teacher who trained at the same university that I did and what struck me as being frankly ridiculous was the revelation that kindergarteners are now graded on everything they do. My silent reaction was “you’ve got to be f*****g kidding me! There’s no way I could possibly do that job as I would find it impossible to take it seriously so asinine has it become. I no longer really believe in grading at all in school K-12 which the kids are essentially being forced to attend against their will. I don’t really believe in schooling kids younger than 8 nor older than 14 if they are not college bound and capable of demonstrating some measure of academic inclination, which of course most are incapable of doing. So it should be off to trades apprenticeships instead of high school for at least half the population, especially all of the obnoxious mental midgets currently walking the corridors of our ridiculous high schools. Bring back the Victorian approach to public schooling! And cut my property tax bill in half at the very least for starters.
