The Police were truly a special band with the whole being much more than the sum of the parts. Stewart and Andy couldn't have written all those songs. But Sting couldn't have added what Andy created with those chords and textures. And NO ONE could have created all those drum parts that were so signature and brought so much out of the songs!

I saw Stewart Copeland as I was walking by a restaurant near Venice Beach. I just had to interrupt his meal with friends for a brief moment to tell him that he was the reason why I played drums and of how much of an honor it was to see him in person. He was so gracious. He thanked me, and I went on my way. One word: WOW!!!!

Ok ....well sayd but.. mike brecker..(who was ..for me ..best jazzman ever) used to say"drums is the most important instrument in a band ..cause if the drummer is good he makes the whole band good.." and i agree with this concept 100 percent..i notice that in bands in which the drummer makes a difference...for example..police, tower of power,sting with colaiuta..😂led zeppelin..and so on..👋👋

Andy Summers really DID create a great template for guitarists wanting to add unorthodox soundscapes into a pop structure. And I'm fairly certain that he and Joe Strummer influenced all of those bands from the 1990's who were incorporating Reggae into their punk and alt. rock songs. MAN I'm glad I stumbled across this channel!
