I don't think China's economy will collapse, no matter how bad the mismanagement gets. The fundamental truth is that until the Chinese average wages match that of the developed world, they will always have room for a great deal of growth. The problem is that China seems determined to keep their own citizen's wages firmly controlled. They want cheap labor, not a booming middle class because the state owns the companies that benefit from low wages. So they don't want their own citizens to be able to afford what they produce and thus are always dependent on the idea of exporting for the sake of state revenue rather than a taxation-driven model in Western countries where the state benefits from its citizens having higher wages. The state will always be incentivized to keep its population poor, so long as all the wealth procured by cheap labor goes straight to the state.

North Korea has hundreds and hundreds of miles of underground infrastructure on a scale that dwarfs that of any other three nations combined. If you were Putin, Xe, or glorious leader Kim facing a world that, even if you successfully conquered every square inch of it, would STILL have no interest in your culture, language, media, or ideas, then how appealing might the idea of just cleansing the planet of all other cultures and people's only to rise out of that ash with now far more people, resources, a vastly superior quality of life, a strong fully obedient military, and so the power to finally do to the world what you have always wanted to do to it - remake it in your own short, chubby image free of moral constraints and any sort of consequences whatsoever?
