I worked in the school system for over 30 years as a teacher assistant. I have a learning disability and even tho school was rough for me and I really didn’t like it, I felt that teaching kids with disabilities could work well for me coz I could relate in ways with the kids. I live in Central Florida and many teachers and parents knew I was a lesbian they respected me of the way I respected their children. I didn’t treat them like they had a disability and the kids and parents treated me the same as well.

27JUL2023: All I wanted was to be able to use Kami on an iPad. I was informed it was possible. But then the info said I could only use Kami on an iPad together with an app called ‘Canvas’. So I downloaded and installed Canvas. But then Canvas said I could only use Canvas through my educational institution. So I went to the spot within Canvas that asked me to type in my university’s name. Which then led to the error message saying “You institution’s Canvas account has been suspended.” What a waste of time!!! This instructional video should have warned about that at the beginning. _____ Some of us just want to be independent learners. But with Kami - wanting to use it on an iPad - this just doesn’t feel right. I feel the Kami owners are trying to herd students into a place that’s not for the sole benefit of students. _____ I’m also feeling pressure to buy a Chromebook, but if I do, it’s an additional “device” I need to keep in my headspace; i.e. unnecessary cognitive overhead. I’m sure students would agree that we don’t need unnecessary distractions. _____ But I’m looking on the bright side: this is great opportunity to hammer out my own app that does all that Kami does, and more.

27JUL2023: _____ It does not work on iPads. We've got no time to bugger about contacting help desks. Had I recommended Kami for potential new students, and they hit this brick wall after my enthusiastic recommendation for Kami, I'd have instantly lost credibility. _____ I tried a workaround, which was to copy the link to a PDF opened in Kami on my desktop (Mac), paste it to a gDoc, and click on the link while on an iPad. That seemed to (WANT to) work on the iPad (tried on a 2017 iPad, and a 2022 iPad). It didn’t work. It asked me to wait while it loaded. It didn't load. It never does -- I only saw the annotations. _____ I'm going across to OneNote, sorry Kami people. _____ However, I *do* have praise for Kami, particularly if their claim is true that it works flawlessly on Chromebook tablets. The Kami creators had a firm eye on students/parents unable to afford Apple stuff (expensive and breaks easily).
