Helicopter flight over and down the Grand Canyon, to land near the Colorado river for a boat trip. Amazing experience and well worth the money, seeing you get a trip in and out of the Grand Canyon by helicopter and a boat ride in between.

Filmed from the fighter's cockpit. At time 03:30 you see the contrails of the commercial jet appearing at the horizon on the left side. In the end you can clearly see the jet.

This is ridiculous. What in the hell were both of these planes looking at? You can see the contrails of the commercial jet from miles away, it's a crystal clear day. Secondly, nice avionics or radar on the fighter jet. If it can't see the huge commercial jet, how is he going to see an enemy fighter jet in combat. Plus, don't planes have early warning collision systems? The type of systems that warning you of a collision or being in close proximity of other aircraft?
To TCAS in F-16. Long story short, AD radar is made for guiding weapons not to perform collision avoidance.
Im no pilot so this question might be stupid but does he not look where hes going, or is there something hindering his view like a sun visor? I get that theres supposed to be nothing there and ofc there isnt really anything eventful during a flight, its just a bunch of clouds and the sun for a really long time after all. I just cant believe he only noticed the incoming plane when it would already be too late so what was the pilot doing the whole time?
This video must have a sun visor on it because even though I knew what was going to happen, I saw the vapor trail of the commercial flight :30 seconds before it even arrived. Pilot distracted, or heads up display interference?
Why would they have fighters playing at FL350 on a commercial jetway? Surreal it’s so stupid.

This shouldn’t really happen now. Planes have access to ground transponders, ATC, and each others squawk. They know where everyone is. The collisions avoidance system should’ve warned that pilot a long time before the commercial airliner came into view. I should imagine both pilots needed a change of pants after that, not to mention any passengers on the plane who just happened to be looking out of the window 😆

When he panics it was already going to miss anyway if he'd have been looking might have helped, sudden movements might have made things worse
I don't care what ATC does, you don't look down for 20 seconds in a fighter jet in visual conditions. You just don't.
It's not shown, but guessing some hand waving was going on in the cockpit.

This is otherwise known as a 'mambo italiano' moment.
Two times the leader said they were at FL360 and the ATCO did not notice, regardless of the wrong C. When a flight checks in from a foreign ATC unit or when there is no transfer of radar control, C mode MUST be verified according to MOATS Italy. And a little more attention to the freq would have helped as well... Italian style: disregarding rules and working the easy way!

The odds of this happening are so low, yet still happen. Which is why if you fly privately, always request flight following!

How is he a fighter pilot with vision like that? Could see it coming seconds before he even reacted
he was working on the transponder, if you listen to the conversation it's clear that for some reason atc can't see them on theyre secondary radar and they are tryng to fix the problem with the pilot, also the black and white camera has better contrast than what you'd normally have with high sight and you were looking for it

Wouldn’t it just be a “miss?” A “near miss” implies they almost missed, but didn’t.
