Congratulations - I appreciated your objective review. I've loved Rega turntables for 30 years, and as they sound very good, I've occasionally had problems with quality or peculiarities. These were moments when I was a little disappointed. But at the end of the day, for the price, you get an enjoyable turntable. 👍

I tend to agree with you and commenter below . Its true there have been loads of Smiths sound alike bands - Sundays and Housemartins- . The thing about Gene's singer and Wes, is they are paying homage (ripping off ) , Moz voice, subject matter, persona etc ... In Eddie My Love wes says "call me , call me ", which is just like Moz singing "phone me, phone me " there are alot of these . even the subject matter of Eddite is pure moz - Homo affection . Like Martin he also tries to copy the whole stage moves , interests etc etc. . As a band Brigitte Calls Me , are like Oasis... That is to say they lift from all sorts - The Strokes, The KIllers, The Smiths , The LA's etc.. I actually , really like Brigitte , and think the band could be something special

You missed Franz Ferdinand's first LP, and the Trash Can Sinatra's Re Gene Martin Rossiter was a pure Morrissey rip act , until the public fashion changed then he stabbed him in the back He was accused of bad abuse by his ex-wife, and he also got sacked from his job for sexual harassment for collage at the music college he worked at Re the LP, i agree with what you say but i wouldn't say the singer is better than Morrissey, as Morrisseys voice is completely his own, he may at times, stray into a kind of Elvis but its primal and his. Also he came out his own person, ready made. Jake Rowley has given himself a fake name Wes Levins and is a mimic. so he will never match up to Morrissey.. I know what you meant, though you meant technically better but there are loads of singers who are technically better, but they are not better singers to the heart ...Thats the key If you want to copy the Smiths do it like Suede, they took the spirit and created something as beautiful.. To copy Morrissey like Jake (wes) has , is very high school , he is aping the voice, stage moves, lyrics , and also personas .. When you do this you lack authenticity

I remember the first time I heard sexy boy on a Greek music channel... I liked it so much that I waited impatiently for the album to come out. When it was released I immediately ran to buy the cd. And of course it didn't disappoint me... From then until today, every time I hear it, it's like hearing it for the first time. It's an all time classic!!! P.S.I got it 6 years ago on the 20 anniversary vinyl but I believe that VMP will cover me more acoustically so I'm thinking of getting it on this version as well

I pre-ordered and created the Discogs record for this (clear) lp because of your ep review; excellent pressing. I streamed the ep a few times and was hooked (never bought, wanted to hear it all at once). I have spinning the lp near daily; absolutely love it end to end (so many influences, "meta indie"). Ty for highlighting the ep, it is always fun to listen to new artists especially when they are this talented!

It’s a bit disappointing that all the ep songs are on the album. They should’ve left some off to make the ep have some exclusives. I would have preferred them putting out a new ep with six songs. Haha! Glad to see there are band photos on the album. Biggest oversight was no photos on the ep. They have the look, but didn’t use it. Like you, I’m rooting for this band. Cheers, Jon

Hi Arnaldo, great video. I went to see the exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery when it opened last year in London and absolutely loved it. George Martin even manages to look suave in trunks 😂. I didn’t pick up the book at the time as I was heading to Wembley for a rugby game in the afternoon but your video reminded me it is on the ‘to buy’ list. Andy

A very nice Boxset

The biggest upgrade you can make to the Rega P6 is a great cartridge like the nagaoka MP 500 and a great phono preamp like the trigon Vanguard III preamp

f a riend had a Rega in early 80's and it squeaked so we pushed the platter gently on start up. Forty years later exactly the same with my P6. Its no big deal its just a Rega thing. great tip on the hum which really bugged me. nevetheless great turntable no regrets.

Great video my man!!! Excellent job with the mini bio on the formation of the band leading up to the debut album. I have two copies of the first album without Kissing Time. In my opinion it sounds better and more of a raw sound compared to the addition of kissing time on the latter pressings . There’s been discussion on this topic. Maybe you could make a debut album revisited addition and discuss this particular topic. I also have the very first promo vinyl 45 of Nothin to Lose. One side mono, one side stereo. I also have kissing time and nothing to lose as well as nothing to lose and love theme from Kiss all original 1974 first pressings. So now I am collecting magazine articles from 1974 featuring the very first photos and reviews of the band, which I think is really cool.Rock scene and creem magazines. I also have one called bettle from Canada 1974.

Love the review! I’m so excited for their full album tomorrow. Some of their singles since the ep have been my favorites yet. Would love to hear your thoughts on it, as someone who does have so much knowledge of their influences, once it is out.

I’m definitely thinking about getting that Joni Mitchell cut at 45 from vinyl me please I do have the Chris Bellman cut that last 45 cut was VMP was Tribe Called Quest Low End Theory on 45rpm I believes was the last 45rpm done by VMP and it sounds outstanding. You definitely broke it down perfectly the comparisons it’s of my favorite period of Joni her jazz period and I’m going to check out that Don Blackmon that’s a tough record to find originals. I really dug it Arnaldo take care.

My favorite Joni record. Didn’t understand it in my younger years but I’m finally grasping some of Joni’s vision and genius. Great video sir.

I passed on this when it was initially released because it's basically the same material that's already been released. I was hoping they would go back and remix the album and include maybe a live show or the pro-shot US Festival show on DVD with those unforgettable videos but they didn't do that. I'm going to purchase the box set after watching your video but I'm holding out for a sale. Looks really cool.

You mentioned two versions of Hand In Glove, a single version and the first album version. I collect CDs rather than vinyl; it would be useful to have information on which song version appears on which CD (for Hand In Glove, but also going forward to other songs). Thanks for the deep-dive!

This was a great video for current and prospective Rega P6 owners. I had a Rega P3-24 back in the day and liked it. The squeaky sound is normal not just in Rega but other tables as well, such as a VPI Classic that I own. It comes from the belt slipping as it tries to turn and get the platter up to speed. With the talcum powder, you place the whole belt in it which coats the rubber on the belt and this grips to the platter and motor better eliminating the squeal. So yes this is normal with belt driven turntables. What is normally suggested is to turn the plater first, then hit the power button, which will have the belt more in sync with the platter because the belt won’t hav to use as much force to get it up to speed. I also now own two direct drive tables the Technics sl-1200 GR and the Denon DP-3000ne. The Denon is more in line with the build quality and weight of the VPI at 40 pounds. The Technics had this bobble problem when first using the cueing over to lift the stylus off of the record, but it eventually goes away with use, but it drives you nuts and it’s been talked about on CZcams often. The Denon doesn’t have this issue, nor are the RCA and ground connections located under the table near the tonearm, which causes you to either lift with one hand straining your wrist or propping it up with something like with the Technics. The Denon has none of these issues, neither does the VPI, but the Technics GR is a fine sounding table. The Denon’s feet are huge and they look like the ones on VPI Prime Signature series turntables. The Technics short comings led to me purchasing the Denon and this might be the reason I stop dealing with belt drive tables all together, no maintenance like with the VPI, but I love my VPI and the unipivot tonearm is better with more detail overall, but it can be a headache to set up but the Denon is close.

@fidelios_frequency just out of curiosity, was the NYC shop you mentioned In Living Sound? Also considering a P6 and was thinking of visiting that spot as they carry rega but heard similar feedback as yours re: the clientele, customer service etc.
