Hi, both of the farmers in this video put all of their heifers back to a Stabiliser bull as they sell pedigree cattle. You don't have to use a Stabiliser bull, you can use any bull that will give you the best return on your farm,
Just a glorified cross bred
I have 2 short horn cows .1 pedigree. Would you recomend St095 straw sexed female for a cross for breeding ?
Hi Liam, if you mean ST0957, ESGAIR UCHELWR, he is a great all round bull. He will have small calves that grow well with good carcass characteristics. He is also one of the best animals for feed efficiency meaning the calves will eat less, but continue to grow really well. A good choice.
Do they do best when grain fed ? As opposed to grass fed .I picked that up from lech man's video . Thanks
They do well in both systems. In the UK we finish Bulls on a forage/grain (50:50DM) mix and we can finish heifers and steers on a grass-only diet.
