So sad to hear that his kids sold his life achievement for 156K USD.... He spent more than a million 😢
Sometimes I’m bewildered. All that money could buy years of season passes to hear an orchestra in a major city. Nothing beats hearing a LIVE orchestra in person.
What a tragic story? A lesson in life? Worth a movie. The old man looks like Leonardo DiCaprio. The haunting classic from Swan lake intro is fitting for this story. Very sad.
Very sad story about OCD audiophilia. Being passionate about something that is genuinely meaningful is very different.
There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with a person indulging in their passion. He seemed quite level-headed and not the least bit a braggart. He clearly had a mission and a passion to do something that gave him joy while pursuing it.
Sound God
His kids auctioned it off for $156k. A true crime.
p2w
u Completely lost me when you started HATING on Led Zep....
Everything is prefect.... alright, Alexa, play DUCKTALES!
There are plenty of so called Audiophiles in youtube with 40-50 years of experience. But none of them has knowledge or passion for sound like this person. He was alone in the category. His place gonna be always above all others in this planet.
I got 2 stacked Logitechs 😄
What a sucker.
WW1 N WW2 RUSSIAN MUSICIANS WERE DISCRIMINATED BY EU
The monolith appeared
Just wonderful! What a man and what a system. A dream came true....
So happy he was able to do listen to this before he died. To live your dream is so awesome and way to many do not get the chance
What an amazing project! ❤
I notice he talks to his son like they're strangers.............. Maybe the obsession went too far for the family????
I wonder what our Lord Jesus Christ felt. Angels will be the speakers for me in heaven...
Pays to be rich.
Me listening to this on my laptop speakers 🤠🤠
Аудиофил 99 лвл
I dunno, I have a couple Creative Sound Blaster speakers from the 90's and they're pretty decent.
For ALL that this man provided for his family, the family couldn't support his last wish to KEEP the system together. What a dissapointment.
lol he barely even got to use it before he kicked the bucket. now its all gone. coulda spent all that time just going to see things live and having amazing experiences outside. rich people dont deserve the money
You could use a really good set of headphones instead. It would still give you amazing sound and much, much less use of the earth’s resources to listen to music.
Well what the actual f..k?
I hope he's at peace now. We're really looking at someone who is completely out of his mind. I truly hope his mind found the peace now that was missing. This is sad to see someone just allow themselves to become fully indulged in a material obsession that could never achieve the perfection that they're pursuing.
You're not just an expert, but a judgemental one at that. 👏
Did he get the moon rock needle. If you don't get that it's gonna sound s...ty
Id like to see him listen to a local minor league baseball game on AM radio.
I know this contraption caused it's fair share of suffering for loved one, but I am just grateful this documentary was made to forever digitize one man's life obsession. All that effort and he didn't want to crank out Led Zeppelin? To each their own
I wonder why his kids aren’t preserving this like he wanted in any way and just selling it all off piece by piece? I wonder if he just wasn’t involved enough in their life and they simply don’t care about his seemed to be number 1 passion in life. Massive assumptions there and I would assume not but it’s just a slap to his face that they are doing that.
They tried to sell the house and stereo as a unit- no takers. They tried to sell the stereo as a whole- no takers. Despite its quality, DIY audio equipment is very subjective. What sounded perfect to Kurt may not have to others.
Swan Lake, anthony affonsos favorite
I understand Ken's goal, seeking perfection without compromise will always lead you to isolation.
his wife got half in the divorce. now he only has one channel .
He passed away- she got 100% of the sale's proceeds: 6% of the cost of the system.
I'm listening to this on my phone's speaker and he did a good job because I must admit it sounds good
Hello!? Are none of you aware of the controversy about this system and who Fritz apparently was as a person? Please do some research before posting more "wow" comments
Go on... Educate us, please.
Yes please educate us about him.
What a worthless passion. Lol
Lol he spent $1 million and 27 years on this. It was dismantled and sold for $185k after his death.
Just saw that on Reddit and had to come here. People are scum smh
Anyone else notice the synchronized clock pendulums? His 'geeking out' is endearing. My jaw dropped when he said all the vener on the sides came from a 1/8" thick piece!!
I admire his devotion and passion. But it is truly sad that during his 27 years of pursuing a perfect system it never occurred to him to read a book about speaker design, acoustics, sound reproduction, or signal processing. He basically imagined all of the reasoning behind this system.
I came for the technical specs and stayed for the life wisdom. Ken Fritz was a great man.
R.I.P Ken Fritz. I hope you had a good year listening to your records. And I fully agree with you, opera isn't a very likable form of classical music. I hope you had some Richard Wagner in your collection though..
This guy seems to me to be incredibly selfish, but that's just me. A cautionary tale for anyone who is laser focused on some frivolous goal, no matter how grand or "world's best" it might be, at the expense of their family. How many years spent building this (VERY) expensive system, to only get to listen to it a few times? I'm sure there is a psychoanalytical term for it, but for all his rants against sitting around and doing nothing, at least doing that with your family beats doing this on your own without them ...
Can't even get incandescent bulbs anymore, at least not here in CA.
And because of youtube's audio compression it sounds like any other stereo. You can't take it with you so you might as well enjoy it while you're here.
RIP Fritz
great video and what passion . i am finding the older i get the more i can spend on nice equipment but your hearing always deuterates like everything else ........
Thank you to those who wanted to share this beautiful system, or share a mans dream actually, with us. God bless you.
Just to note: when rightfully calibrated, 2 hi grade studio monitors and a cd player will scientifically sound better than this. Sorry, will sound much better than this.
