I always did think the dad from Good Luck Charlie would've been perfect for the Skipper had there been a Gilligan's Island remake.

Post traumatic stress disorder, or the WWII label, combat fatigue, sometimes the thousand yard stare; that's what this movie was really about. Guilt. So many survive combat but suffer, sometimes for the rest of their lives. In the old days they would often turn to alcohol, in recent decades, drug addiction. As seen here, the families suffer as well. Spouses and children suffer along with the head of the family. Often violent and irrational acts. Not healed by a return to civilian life. Jobs lost, careers destroyed. And never again peace of mind. All too often ending in suicide, with the survivors who live with the results for a lifetime. That is what this film is really all about. Heartbreaking. The only thing not real is the happy ending.

Wow I did not know this documentary existed. What a great show this is. To me and many others these guys are tv legends and growing up watching them was a pleasure. Too much violence on tv now. These shows are a breath of fresh air. Thanks for posting this as it made my day complete. Peace all

The CBS studio executive who is disinterested in "Gilligan's Island" and meet Sherwood Schwartz in the start is played by Dwayne Hickman, Bob Denver's castmate in Dobie Gillis!

As to the cancellation of the series, corpoate boobs making creative decisions for the movies/ TV business was, is, and ever shall be a bad idea! If it’s a great, innovative idea, expect them to try to ruin it. If successful with the general populace, expect them to cancel it or relegate it to a less optimum time slot. Years later, with the show or movie now iconic and legendary, expect them to whitewash their foolish, shortsighted decisions and now take credit for its success. Regular people will always love this show and it’s iconic cast.

What was wrong with Tina’s right side? Looked great from either angle.

I remember when one of the Jeopardy contestants: Andy was wearing the same kind of shirt Willie Gilligan/Bob Denver wore. It's the most memorable moment in the Jeopardy TV game show.

Really poor audio quality, very dark screen and can't see much of anything.

I visited what might have been the back side unfilmed portion of the Island in 2012 as part of a 3 choice package in Kualau park where tons of scenes in movies have been filmed. They called it secret island and said it was the site anyway. With as much echoes i recall in the show, I'm sure more was filmed on a set.

That was really good. The actors playing the real people were spot on especially Eric Kramer playing Alan Hale. If they ever release the series on Blu Ray I hope they add this to a bonus feature.

I have to say the casting of the reenactments was just about spot on. They looked like the actors/characters but also had their voices and mannerisms down. Some of the stories were more interesting than others and there were some cheesy moments, but overall a great documentary.

When we were all little, my older sister used to make believe she was the 8th castaway.

51:22 some people are clueless. If they really thought they were shipwrecked on an island and the show was real life. They shouldn't be allowed to walk in society unsupervised. Lock ghem away so they can get their medication and they can't hurt anyone. Gilligan Island is not a comedy. It's just bad corny one liners. I like Gilligan Island as a child. But that's it. It's embarrassing now. The actors are great and icons in their own right. The writing though is horrendous. It's the worst in TV history. It needed more funny and less stupid. I only watch it because it brings back my childhood memories watching it. *Every character and actor is wonderful and they deserved a lot more money than they got.* I never thought Tina was good looking. Her bad attitude and narcissism makes her even less attractive. I worked with actors like her and I never let them get away with their selfish demands without getting an ear full from me.

I remember watching this the night it aired on CBS. I first saw the commercial advertising it like a month prior to airing and was so anticipating it. In fact, I made sure to leave work early that day to watch it at home. None of my friends understood my passion for Gilligan's Island.. 😂
