Why not go with the r53 throttle body as well?
Hello friend, I really liked the video, what diameter is the exhaust pipe???
Good video man, is there no pilot bearing on these cars? I didnt see one in the video. Priming up to do this job.
Hello, I still need to install the brake booster tube with a T. Since I made the mod I can't activate the traction control. The light comes on and is always deactivated, I cannot activate it even by pressing the button. and the rpm oscillates a little
Wher did you put the pcv filter pipe thanksdid you just blank the pcv
@@ashleybartram6935 I ended up installing a catch can
Where did you pipe the oil cach tank up to mate as you got a in and out pipes on the cach can
Thanks for your help mate really appreciated:)
Where did the break booster pipe go from the breaks on the manifold as I got r50 doing the same as you
Hello, sorry I don't have any pictures but you just join the vacuums together with a T piece
So join the all together with the pipes which gose on the nipple which is on the end mate
@@ashleybartram6935 yes, perfect
@@Christian_Rutherford thanks mate perfect
Nothing fits in the cigarette port I can't seem to get anything to fit what do I buy that fits?
Thanks buddy
No problem 👍
Was this with the r53 intake still, and have you done anything with the flywheel 👍🏻
Hello yes it was and no nothing
@@Christian_Rutherford it goes well 👍🏻
Where do you run the brake booster line?
Very useful - The video would half the length by editing the ERMs out of it
Good call!
a bandsaw would do wonders. Grinders suck at getting through thick aluminum.
Thanks, I wish I had at the time! Watch some of my later videos I've got alot more gear now👍
Thx for the help
No problem!
Hello Chistian, great video. I would like make the same to mi mini R50, could you tell me how long the aluminum addition is? And what do you need to change or adapt to make everything work correctly? Thank you
Hello! Great glad you would like too i made it 20mm thick, but you probably could go as little as 10mm I had to make sure all the vacuum lines were connected and cut the handle on the dipstick slightly
You routed the belt wrongly. A belt's face should never touch a pulley -- it needed to be routed up and around it, at least that's what the Toyota workshop manual says.
Put a dab of grease on the base to hold the rubber washers still while lowering the coil onto its position.
Thanks, great tip!
Using copper grease on wheel nuts is not advised as it can cause a hydraulic action and loosen the nuts. Here is an exert from copper grease users guide... Is it OK to put copper grease on wheel nuts? Just use a wire brush on your bolts and clean out the threads in the hub. The reason why people say no, is because the grease can act as a hydraulic between the threads and cause them to undo, and give false torque readings.8 Sept 2014
Others didnt work. Thanks
No worries, glad I could help!
So, is there any update on the R53 intake manifold modification?
What would you like to see?
Finish tis go-kart?????
At some point i will :)
Thank you for posting this video.
You're welcome
Thanku so much🎉🎉
Happy to help!
Did your standard cooper ecu still work or wat way u go about it
Yes it all works, may run a little richer though due to increased air flow
So... what happen with this R50? do you sell it or what? :(
No still got it, check out my latest video!
Please, please, please stop saying umm, Umm, umm. Other than that very informative, thanks.
apologies, it is hard to think about what im saying nect, hope you enjoyed the video otherwise!
Many thanks mate. Keep'em coming. Cheers!
Thanks, will do!
Hi mate. I’m planning on doing this to mine. But I have a question? The back hose that’s hanging next to the throttle body, whereabouts did connect that to? Cheers
I ended up routing it underneath with a T piece
@@Christian_Rutherfordwhere did you put all the breather pipe send a picture on what you did to the pipe work thanks
Did this on mine. Tbh ur better off running the stock intake, u have no low end power, acceleration is shockingly bad (almost like it was a 1L) and it has a massive flat spot between 3k and 5k rpm where I can’t accelerate. Idk if I did something wrong but it also idled like a dog😂
Hi Ben, this wasnt the same as my experience, the car seems better in the higher rpms, also idles just fine, maybe you have an air leak?
What cc is that engine
I done the same thing to my R50. But i did a much nicer job. Even machined and tapped the intake manifold so it could take the vacuum lines properly. I also used an R53 throttle body .. Shame i cant post a photo.
Does it actually make much of a difference in power?
@@m-smoothfpv It made a little more power top end of rev range .. i only done it because it made it look and sound nicer.
Very nice, id like to see i this, dm me through instagram instagram.com/christian_rutherford908/
Thanks man.. saved looking for the manual
Anytime!
Salut Jolie adaptateur tu peux m'envoyer 1 SAIT bien passé, ell6 donne mieux le métal et plus Jolie merci de nous appelons à prendre soin de nôtre mini . A bientôt jatten votre raisons amitié greg
Who the hell change the oil every 15,000 miles
How often do you change yours?
I am putting this system on my R52. Spacers/or bending the middle pipe is recommended. Do you know what spacers I'd need? Cheers
How much $$$ you can sell me one same adapter ,??
1320 sell them.....just got one last week, and they're around £50 !!😁
im not sure, i can get some quotes
Did it run alright after? No need for a tune?
yeah all good
Cheers for this, I think I'll be replacing my 02's R50 OEM exhaust now. Any problems with the post/pre cat sensors doing this? 99% sure my engine light coming on is due to holes I can feel air from and the silencer wadding disintegrating.
No problem with any engine lights, sounds like you have other issues with the system
Would you recommend this mod? As I’ll be doing the same and putting the r53 throttle body on too!
I was thinking why he just didn't put a R53 throttle body and make more air flow in?
i wasnt sure if the throttle body would be accepted by the ecu in stock form
Top job thanks doing my later today
Thanks
Hi Chris. Good video! I’ve got a power fold mirror that’s working but doesn’t stop in the top fold position, it just keeps going round! Any ideas? Fixable?
same problem here! Did you manage to fix it?
Cheers for a proper full explanation how to do this, very helpful
What type of paint would you recommend for the black plastic trims if only able to sand by hand without removal? I have an R50 with R51/52 upgrades but it has both some scratching and also dried body paint on the arches - not looking for a perfect result exactly, just planning to sand and respray in situ so I haven't got to fit and buy all the clips again. Would a matte or silk black plastic spray work over primer or do I need the factory paint?
You can use what ever paint you like but I would definitely recommend getting a plastic specific primer, Autotek spray cans are a good price and a professional quality
@@Christian_Rutherford i have the primer at least - bumper got a good spray a while back :)
et a quoi ça sert çà chef?
Just a question on the vacuum lines. Where did you run your brake booster line? Also what did you do with the other crankcase line that you broke? Thanks
Accurate, quick, easy, Thanks.
what body kit is on the car
The factory JCW kit
My Mini r50 has captive bolts on the back side of the flange plate. Is this normal.
As the spark plugs are fitted with a crush washer it’s important to torque them to spec. If the plug becomes loose in the cylinder head it’s oscillation in the spark plug hole slowly wears away at the threads and the plug fires out. It’s quite common with aluminium cylinder heads.
How much faster. Changing manifold
