I disagree on this a little. Allow me to offer this. A true apology and any real change in human relationships is not about the person who did the abusing. For anyone to truly shift from self serving & self actuality is to hold space for the pain you caused another. If you can’t hold space to truly hear and see the consequences of your actions without any preconceived notions of what a reaction might or could be. A cycle of healing closes when both the victim makes peace. If they do that without the compassion or comprehension of the perpetrator they will grow profoundly powerful. But it will likely not serve the perp at all. They likely will continue to repeat the same cycle until they see the victims they create and not the victim they never were.
