PILEATED WOODPECKER @ SUET FEEDER
We've seen pileated woodpeckers in our woods forever but they rarely come close to the house. And never have we seen them at any of our feeding stations. This morning my wife heard one and looked up to see a partial view of its head pecking away at the suet block in the feeder. I shot this horrible and very brief video just to have some token of the visit. Hopefully, this will be the first of many visits.

My fishing mate and I took a swing into Louisiana and stopped at Beaux Bridge for their Crawfish Festival. From there we made our way to New Orleans and after some sightseeing headed down the Mississippi River to the furthest point, Route 23 takes you, the fishing village of Venice.

I hauled this very small octopus in several years ago and it remains the only one I've ever caught. I've never eaten octopus other than as a broth in a Japanese restaurant in Los Angeles back in the 1960s. If it is anything like calamari I'm sure I'd like it fried.

Most damages were to trees but in some areas, there was substantial damage to structures, especially in the South Salem community in Ross County. Adena mansion was built around 1806 for Thomas Worthington, the sixth governor of Ohio and Ohio's first US Senator. Today it sits on three hundred acres of the original property, is operated by the state, and is an important tourist destination. This rough video was shot on October 15, 2021.

There is no better bluesman or example of blues... The blues is an expression of the pains of life a man feels... Its a defiant easement of the pain through musical and artistic expression... Its like a prayer... There is no best prayer award or best example of a prayer... Or best prayer in the top prayer charts.... The simplest prayer is as good as the one a pope or cardinal makes... Coz its real, and personal and a recognition of ones pain... Thats just my opinion though...
OK, HUGE Blues fan here. LOTS of people say 'this is the best this' and 'this is the best that'. I've got performances in my memories that are the best I've ever heard and I'd have a hard time being convinced otherwise. But this bumped one of my favorite Willy Dixon performances down to #11, and I absolutely LOVE Chicago Blues with the bass and horns. So props.

I can forgive the hyperbole of the video’s opening statements… I saw this doc decades ago and that song always stuck in my head. Nah, Lightnin’ wasn’t the best blues musician ever - not by a mile - but he does stand among the greats, and this performance is one of the best examples of what made him so great
