Hello everyone. Welcome back! I’m very glad to have seen my channel reach three thousand subscribers this month. I want to thank all of you who have watched and subscribed to my channel. You have no idea how much that means to me. I can’t wait to make more satisfactory and relevant contents for you all. Some audience have left messages in the comment section but were banned by Google algorithm. Although I wasn’t able to reply to the comments, I’d like to let you know that I have noted down your questions and will answer them in my future updates. Today I want to talk about the reef tank chemistry that lies in the very core of reef keeping. If your fish or corals are in a sub-optimal health condition, instead of treating the fish or corals, you treat the water. This is, in my opinion, a very profound message that is not only applied to reef keeping, but also to our everyday work and life. The number one enemy that is holding you back from success is your surroundings that you have to be aware of. It’s virtually impossible to change your lives without changing the environment. So what water parameters are optimal? Different aquarists have different answers due to various focuses of the niche specimens they intend to culture. But there are a few fundamental chemistry principles that I believe most reefers would agree on.

Welcome back! Today I want to put down a content release schedule for the next few episodes and talk about the system I’ve been using, which is the most common question that people have for me. In particular, I’ll introduce the hardware, circulation and filtration of the system. Here comes a checklist of my minimalist approach to reef keeping. Everything should be made as simple as possible, bu...

Goniopora (flowerpot corals) impossible? | Care recipes
zhlédnutí 30KPřed 3 lety
In this episode, I’ll talk about the amazing flowerpot corals and how to keep them in a captive environment. Everyone knows that Goniopora are impossible to keep. They always die after a year or so. That’s the word on the street - but it’s not the whole truth. Personally, I took this statement as a challenge, and set out to change the way we looked at the care of this “impossible” coral. Until ...
Husbandry of garden eels in a mixed reef setup
zhlédnutí 18KPřed 3 lety
Today I want to talk about the husbandry of garden eels in a mixed reef environment. I have long wondered how these little creatures poop without dirtying their burrows. Please do watch till the end of the episode to see how, should you have the same question as I had.
Cuttlefish vs predatory crab
zhlédnutí 4KPřed 3 lety
I have shown how to rear cuttlefish hatchlings in one of my earlier videos. These dwarf cuttlefish are almost three-month-old now and really showing signs of maturity. In this video, I'll show you cuttlefish predation on blue crab / shore crab / hermit crab. If you have no idea of how to capture a crab that has large claws stretching out wide, you shall definitely watch this video and cuttlefis...
Mixed reef species guide - lessons learned from trial and error
zhlédnutí 273KPřed 3 lety
One of the most challenging topics in the mixed reef space is species selection as we always manage to strike a balance between biodiversity and compatibility. Today I'll show you my 70-gallon mixed reef tank, where most inhabitants have been living and thriving together in what I perceive to be relative harmony in the past 12 months. I'll be introducing corals, anemones, fish, crustaceans, tub...

Beautiful tank
What I’ve learned it really is more of a biological process that allows this sense of harmony
To summarize you have all kind of shrimp 🦐
Well, done. Is it true that they don’t live long in captivity?
What algae reactor are u using?
Aquatic animal husbandry is not my hobby but this was an interesting an informative video, thank you
Your videos are amazing! Where did you go?! I want more content! :)
Beautiful work Roger. What brand of algae reactor do you use?
what lights do you running?
Couldn’t get past 2 minutes mark with that ridiculous background Music!!!!! 😡
By far the best tank I have ever Seen I just wish you didn’t stop making videos but good luck with life anyways
Best video and lays out in a detailed way what I intend to create
Incredible video! This is one of the nicest tanks I've seen.
will these eat fish?
cuttlefish are the best
Yes, they are conscious like us!
Oh? And how did you come about this information?
@@DanielFCutter by observation, I use my eyes to see and my brain to think, unlike some people!😏
When cooking?
Anymore updates on this awesome reef? 🙏
Can we get an update Mr zhaung
do you think cerith snails are any value for the sand bed?
what is GTA?
🤝what phosphate do you keep? according to Hanna indicators
Hi Roger we’ve you been ,missing your vids 😢
That is one of the most beautiful BTAs I have ever seen👍 looks to be a pretty standard rainbow but it’s clearly very happy
Thank you soo much for explaining nicely 🥰
Your tank is amazing!
thats so cute that they come out to poop haha i wish i can keep them
Great reef tank! Good job! Nice mixture.
My sand is about 1 - 1.5inch thick, do you think I can keep one garden eel?
Roger all your videos are amazing I am leaning so much, thanks a lot !!
Youre not using the kh test kit correctly
Just got a garden eel.
Wah hebat sekali
Hello, your aquarium is amazing! How do you control Xenia from overtaking?
What type of shrimp is that towards the end of the video 13:40?
It’s weird that you say don’t go with a sand sifting Golby.. I had one and after having it for a bit I went to clean underneath the sand like I would do every so often. To my surprise there wasn’t hardly anything there since the golby was put in the tank.
He's right.. It is difficult to cut them in harf 1:23
I find clown fish a nightmare for nipping coral
Thank you for explaining about the different foods in detail
Your tank is outstanding. I have a question, I'm setting up a 50gal lagoon FOWLR with maybe some hearty branch corals but would like to add a couple anemones for two clownfish. Are clowns caught in the ocean more likely to 'friend' an anemone than breeder clowns? I want to give them and me the best chance at a trusting relationship. I just saw my answer in another of your videos.😂🐠 Thanks for all the info.
That tanks looks great
I really want a reef tank. I have been watching a lot of videos but clearly some of the other channels speak as if everyone is as professional as they are. Clearly you know what you’re doing as well but you actually teach what needs to be done. I LOVE your literal demonstrations. Excellent programming. So glad I finally found your channel. Keep up the fantastic lessons and it won’t be long until your channel blows up. Good job!
Your presentations are invaluable. You are a genuine blessing, Sir. The tank is exquisite as the smallest details are colorful, purposeful and community appropriate. Hats off ! Subscribed ! Please, what camera are you using ? Very crisp and real.... 💪💞
i don’t recommend small sexy shrimp or pistol shrimp when there are wrasses. especially if they’re of the corris family. and garden eels require at least 6 inches of sand. these are based on my personal experience
BS... Skip to 4:00
Thank you for the advice about not adding two fish of the same kind in a tank under 200 gallon. I have two blue chromis now that are fighting. My reef 🪸 tank is 25 gallon. My single clown is a killer, my pink damsel also chases the chromis. I wonder if I remove one chromis will that curve things down?🤔
Took you long enough to talk about the sand
I’m glad it’s not just my cleaner shrimp that likes to piss off corals 😂
Your presentations are fantastic, addressing the science and practical care of reef care. I'm just starting to get back into aquarium care, which was of huge interest to me in my early 20's when reef care only occured in a few public aquariums (not the trade). Over the past 30 years, my interests had shifted to aviculture where I worked professionally at a zoological park, but I see a lot of similarities to your approach to husbandry. Now that I am retired, it is really exciting to see how far reef care has come, and your approach is very unique to what I find on CZcams. Your level of compasion and care for the husbandry of these delicate and beautiful animals is fantastic, unique among the 'reefers' I see out there, and inspiring. I would very much like to see you post more videos. Perhaps you can show if/how your methods to create your reef tank can be recreated from start to finish. Thank you.
Great video, but I disagree about nutrient level for LPS being undetectable. I have personally had better success with a Nitrates of 20.
