@@TraditionalArcheryJourney As heavy as I can ... Just getting back into it, I'm certainly not lifting super heavy, but eventually I expect to be lifting some respectable weight. Thanks for watching and God bless!
@@joedaniels4646 in my opinion, I would guess, lifting heavy would probably have an effect/affect , i never know which one is right 🤔, on any, what I consider finesse sports/activites. I also know that’s, what is called, a run on sentence. 😆😆😆😆. Must have been awake and sober during that portion of grammar class. 😆😆. I lift 5 days a week. Never had any issues. I lift medium weight with 10-12 reps and 3 sets. I would speculate after a while you will settle in after the initial shock of starting back up calms down. Good luck Bro.
@@TraditionalArcheryJourney I'm now using that kind of a routine using about 12-15 reps to just get use to the weight going down to 8-10 reps for my last two working sets. I warm up with a out 4 sets of light weight doing close to 29 reps ... I need to do a lot of warm up sets because my joints are so damaged from pro wrestling injuries and about 35yrs of very heavy lifting. Those days of 450lb - 459lb bench presses, 230lbsl seated press, 315lb chear curl, 800lb shrugs in a cage, and 550lbs parallel squat are long gone now! And I am suffering from it now. But lifting moderate weights although not very fulfilling, does make me feel better. I actually got into archery as sort of a replacement for lifting. So at 63 yrs old I'm certainly not out to set lifting or archery records just want to enjoy my twilight years feeling as strong as I can Oh and please don't grade me in my terrible grammar! 😜😁😆😎 I posted a video last night where I did a whole lot better and felt good about it! Thanks for commenting and I hope your shoulder held up for your 3D shoot last weekend. I figured no news on your channel was going news! Thanks again and God bless!

Hey Joe! Try to give it some time! I lift all year around an it still happens sometimes 😅 I would recommend not to shoot at all on your lifting days! Or hit your legs if you are about to shoot after 💪🏹 Definitely don't stop what you are doing just manage it bit differently! Hope that helps! Best of luck Joe 🏹

Brother Joe, I don't think working out should make a difference in your shooting unless there is a fatigue factor playing in. I would suggest moving up to 10 yards and only shoot 3 arrows at a time. Once your groups tighten up, move back 3 yards, then back to 16 yards eventually. The other factor to consider when arrows are inconsistent is "target panic" trying to sneak in if your shooting has worsened over the past several weeks.
@@EatonMyDirtandDeer in practice I will try to move up and inch my way back ... In practice I am only shooting 2 or 3 at a time ... But for video purposes I shot 5. I did shoot till about 3am last night and my groups got much better! Thanks for watching & commenting! God bless!

I was just thinking 🤔 then I read you shirt 👕 and decided not to think!💭😆🤣😂🤣😂 Try videoing your form before and after from 2 angles; 1 - face one and 2- down to the target from behind you . This way you can see if there is any change physically. @@anthonyforfare7223 It's that Christian shirt that says, Your first mistake was thinking ... I was one of the Sheep. Yeah He's in the doorway ... A local man here in NJ was dying of cancer ... He saw this shed on fire & saw Jesus in the doorway and took this picture ... He was cured of the cancer immediately!
A friend of mine is a former professor in Mongolia who specialized in archeology surrounding Mongolian archery and who is one of, if not the, primary bowyer for the bows used in their annual National Archery competition (The Nadaam Games). Two years ago he offered to make me an authentic composite bow of wood (birch), horn (ibex), sinew, and hide glue and I just received it a month ago due to the lengthy construction process. It came with a braided fishing line bowstring. It's definitely a legitimate material that both performs well enough to be used in competition and soft enough to be used on even the most "primitive" of bow materials. You are definitely not wrong to use it.
It's all I use and it's worked fine for me with all my bows from super mags, longbows, and recurves! Thanks for watching, and I really appreciate your comment .... God bless ya!

Those shots looked fine to me....I don't think there are many archers that can hang with Red or Anthony.....I'd drive myself crazy if I was trying to compete with either of those guys. @@joedaniels4646 I shot today for the first time in 6 weeks and 4 days. Drawing the bow different to take pressure off the shoulder. Felt pretty good. I could still feel it but a lot better. Going to a 40 target 3-D all deer shoot Saturday. Thanks so much for remembering and asking. Take care brother.

I don't think I will ever get to be manufacturing bows, but it's fun building risers for limbs like I did for these two short bows. I'm leaning more in the direction of recurves between 50" - 56" tip to tip unstrung bows. And I'm beginning to shoot them better. PS I'm always a little guy brother just like everyone else I'm a sinner saved by Jesus Christ who is the big one in all this! Even when I was somewhat famous when I was a pro wrestler I always knew that I myself was no better than anyone else. All that I am, was, or ever will be was given to me as a gift by God ...but in all honesty, you and all my friends like you are above me. Me and my buds always night shoot when we camp at some of the big shoots. Like the Compton Pre Spring Fling and The Tennessee Classic at Twin Oaks Bowhunters. Most times our vision is a little blurry at night for some reason.

@@TraditionalArcheryJourney I got into archery late in life just before my 60th birthday and I have met here on CZcams some amazing friends! (I have met a couple of complete jerk-offs as well, but more good than bad! And some that are awesome people!) I wish I had started earlier in life, and at 63 I don't have as many tomorrow's as I have had yesterday's so I realize I may never have the time here on earth to be a tremendous archer, but I can do it till I drop and the good Lord takes me home. And I have received some good tips, and challenges from people like Red who are of marksman caliper that are helping me get better, and they never look down on me for not being as good as they are! That's the coolest thing about my archery friends on CZcams! And of course the pure enjoyment I get out of doing it! Thanks for watching and God bless you!

@@dgoutdoorschannel I thought your Xbow got messed up? I I think it would be neat for anyone to try it with one as long as you are not using a sight. It's basically an instinctive shooting thing whether you hold as I do, or snap shoot, or use a quick release. Sighting in a compound or Xbow I think defeats the purpose...
