Let's hope it stays 99 bucks. I already see people on twitter asking about purchasing limits. Consider me skeptical.
Forgot you had a second channel
Super excited for this and the consoles that will come from it.
No idea why people buy this junk. My PSP plays pretty much everything shown except for the n64 games which this looked to struggle on James bond which is sad for that price. And then I have my switch that can play all of the above so why buy something like this??
This has the potential to be a very, very big deal not just because it's obviously always great to save some money when making a purchase, but even more than that because a cheaper MiSTer means that significantly more people than ever before will be able to get their hands on one, and a project like the MiSTer stands to benefit greatly overall from growth of the user base. More people using and experimenting with the MiSTer means more people working on cores, either refining existing ones or writing new ones, potentially more people working on new hardware addons, peripherals, and modifications, really just more people working to improve the device overall. I know that I, for one, simply can not work a MiSTer into the budget right now at the current market price, though I desperately want one, but if the cost could be brought down as low as I'm hoping it could be with this new FPGA board it would suddenly be well within the realm of possibility for me to finally get ahold of one.
third world gang rejoice
Very very nice
I cant wait to see cores that drive led panels. I wanna play LTTP in glorious LED
I'm also curious, what is that screen you're using?
can't wait to get it, please tell me how and when i may own this one in china
I post updates to this and the other consoles that are in development on Twitter: twitter.com/TakiUdon_
please review the computer cores.
This could get me back in the MiSTer ecosystem. Sold my original one because people payed big dollar for it.
I don't need this but shut up and take my money!
This is great, i don't really see a downside to this over the original
Considering the you're trying to get making into MiSTer for as low a price as possible, I'm hoping the consolized version is at or below $200.
What chip are you using?, just the lower grade of the SOC that is available from reputable sellers starts at 253eur plus tax ! yes, the SOC sells for more than the development board.
Same Cyclone 5 that is in the DE10.
Can it run Dreamcast games?
Not with this hardware.
As soon as I heard the price. Its not worth it. Nice project in some respects but not worth it. Not enough value.
For what it is capable of, the actual price of the Official DE10-nano is actually a bargain.
Academic program was great I have de10 a couple of de-0 and de2-115 ....
Please please please if you're making a handheld with this board don't skimp out on the screen. Analogue pocket screams look at my screen. Please make it comparable to the pockets screen with a better dpad and buttons.
Woah this is awesome! Could this be paired with a way to just use composite out for a simple way to get it to work on a crt
This is a great achievement, not to be diminished, but I selfishly have wanted a better FPGA even since the DE-10s were $75. Of course its only gone up from then, but I kept hoping someone would supersede the Cyclone V with one with more LEs.
Waste of money . Why what’s the point when you can a purchase a very cheap old Pc for £90 to run all this old retro games. When you’ve played all the last generation of games, why would you want to play them all once more it’s a waste of money .
and use eXoDOS for all of it.
My Raspberry Pi 1 can do this. So I have ask. What is the point
can it really?
No, the Raspberry Pi 1 cannot do this. It can't even do a fraction of what this can do. If you throw display shaders on top of the games that are running, you would need a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 to match what this hardware does.
And now we all jitter in our seats as we wait to be able to buy these.
is fgpa quality the same or better than original hardware? i.e. does goldeneye run like it does on og hardware?
short: yes. long: Yes only a hand full of N64 games are left with issues that are Major- unplayable, many are Rare games.
Cool, but why would I get this over a software emulator when this can't even render Goldeneye at full speed?
Can it do mario64, starfox64, all psq games? What's the power consumption
Regarding the cost/benfeit ratio... I'm really the opppsite of impressed... do they have plans to emulate PS3 and run wipEout HD? But even that wouldn't make me spend 200 bucks... anyway. Nice video. THX³
I think you should read about fpga hardware and hardware description languages before you post comments about mister.
@@Vulto166 I think I should only watch your video and see that an FPGA is overdose for the examples you showed. And that the price of the board doesn't match for the kind of emulation you showed. Already there are so much emulator devices that have a much better CBR.
@@Heisenberg2097 Man, you are completely lost. These videos are not mine and mister has nothing to do with software emulation. Go educate yourself, increase your perception of reality and who are the person that you are talking to. I can't even respond to what you said because is just misleading and wrong statements.
@@Vulto166 Please consult a good therapist.
@@Heisenberg2097 I already know that you wouldn't handle the truth.
All of the emulators shown in this video can be run on a cheap 30$ Android TV box then why would someone invest in this? Yeh, I know it's an FPGA which gives an open platform to play with one but to be honest most of the people will just use it for emulating retro games which comes back to the first point.
This is not emulation.
@@Vulto166 It is actually
@@ArcadeCabNBud This is hardware logic reprodution.
eXoDOS on youtube has excellent retro software.
Thank you for the update and the transparency to us, the potential buyers. I really love this, and will pick up a few in the future!
If you guys make a FPGA handheld with an AMOLED screen and a great D-Pad, I'll pay pretty much whatever you want to charge. Make it a clamshell design and I'll order three.
Can we use the clone RAM boards with an official DE-10 Nano? Or would they not be compatible?
Yes
Fpga stuffed seemed way to expensive just to plsy ps1 and lower hardware. Personally i'd buy this cheaper one once crt support is confirmed just for saturn/genesis goodness.
Oh and arcade games of course!
very good, spread the love
I interested in using Rust to make some small games on retro consoles but at that price it's not worth it. I'll just use emulators or dig stuff out of storage.
What is that controller he uses?
I would like to see someone playing with an iCE40 based board for the role too (more open tool chain, pretty cheap chips), but this is definitely the more important project.
Im very new to the concept of mister... Does this board have increased ram on the HPS to support n64? I believe that is a limitation of the DE-10?
When bro ? Wen ???
Guess I have to build an arcade machine soon 🙂
04:25 "Now that it's finally affordable..." so it's available to buy as of 5/15/24? "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!" :) The creator of the DE-10 isn't going to try and sue?
Being compatible with the Mr. Add-ons, I think is a mistake. You should just do an all-in-one.
I'm doing 3.
Wow
Funny how usually when I hear “clone” I immediately think “knockoff” but in this situation it’s very much the opposite.
Already own a MiSTer but I'm glad that a DE-10 Nano alternative is in the works so others can also get one!
Yesterday here in Argentina after the PC/Phone repair courses at the institute, I went into a store to ask about a Game Stick. I was willing to pay roughly 20.000 pesos but was hit with a huge price of 50.000... Where could I get one of these instead? Maybe one that could run PS2 which is my latest console which still works 😔
very excited about this project. I hope you make a portable console, a desktop console and also some dock to connect to CRT televisions.
