Ah chopwell woods waterfall. Magic. I’ve just ordered a 2022 Rail 9.8 with a massive discount. Hope to see you about the woods. I only a mile from chopwell.
@@DISCO4able I'm just in the gill. And onto my 3rd frame
Third frame Jeeze 🤣 hope the warranty is good!!’
@DISCO4able life time on a trek thankfully
Love Helvellyn but much prefer sticks pass and seldom seen back down!
We planned to go up then drop down sticks then back up , but in the end stuck together, just incase
Chopwell woods?
@@freefly4585 ha, you know it
You’re dead wrong about the back OEM wheel set. It’s just crap, end of. Irrespective of rider or condition.
What settings mino link high or low
Can't remember if it's the high or low. Think it's high. I have it on the setting with the widest gap. Massive difference for how little a change
Local Gateshead lad here , just read your comment about you starting your own business offering training and mtb rides have you started that up yet ?
Hi. I've got a fb page called bike to basics north east, if you want to message me privately or check it out. I certianly can deliver sessions .
@@egbah428 ah yeah just had a Quick Look I wasn’t wanting ridding lessons my self was just curious , but if you want to buddy up and go on some rides like this one in your video let me know , do you have Strava ?
@bradorton3582 no I don't use strave.
@@bradorton3582 I also do guided rides as well as instruct
@@egbah428 guided rides , you got a bit more information on that , usually over what type of distance , and how often you riding you got the ebike still ?
Stuck one on mine. It’s not always on the trail.
Overall would you say the bike was worth it? I currently have 2022 slash 9.8 xt and really want to add rail 9.8 xt gen 4 to my collection. But the money is really big. Was it worth it?
Hi. I've also got a slash ,21 model I think it is. Personally I love it especially with the changes I've made, Ive changed the rear shock on both my bikes. With the raised bars and altered mino link I love how it rides. For me the larger battery and ease of removing the battery to charge and for security was a no brainer. Also if you have a spare battery in your car it's a simple swap over and more riding. I think both bikes ride simular so it shouldn't be a problem swapping between the two. It was costly especially at full price but it is ideal for me (I have to charge it in the house so removing the battery is a must). If you like your Treks I think you will like this. I do love mine. Just remember to get a better or buy a spare bash guard.
@@egbah428 Nice. Yeah i love trek bikes, both looks and performance, but specially looks. I love my slash and dont want to sell it, so ill keep it and get rail aswell. Just waiting to perhaps catch it on sale or something. I might gx 9.8 since it costs about 1500 dollar less in Sweden that the Xt variant and everything is the same besides the brakes and groupset. I think its better idea to get gx variant and if i dont like it i can switch to xt or xtr and will still spend less than if i get XT variant from store and i can sell gx components second hand. Later ill probably change to either coil or vivid and Zeb ultimate in the front.
That was a great rig rundown! Enjoy that amazing bike
Well, thank you
Any sat nav route info ?
Sorry man, I don't have any. I'm old school and use paper maps. I find it more fun and I'm to tight to buy a GPS. I'm also starting up my own business delivering mtb coaching and rides?
Nice upgrades. What hub fitment did you get the SPEEDi in? Looks like they don’t list the pro 5 hub as an option, only the pro 4?
They use the same size end cap on the pro 4 and pro 5 hubs so the SPEEDi for the pro 4 will work on the pro 5.
That’s a great ride, will have to do it next time I’m up there. Thanks for the vid. Now I need to try and plot it on OS maps😂
Great vids, do you have a gpx of the route?
Glad you like the vids. Unfortunately not. I'm old school
@@egbah428 🤣
Biggest cons I have found: - Only supports Apple Watch for Heart Rate monitoring - Non existent cloud integration for other than Apple Health, Komoot, Strava - Supports only <=18W integrated headlights.
It’s helped me realise the rear lip on mine needs adjusting. Ta.
Nice one, glad the video helped
HI buddy, good video but can I suggest that you invest in a good lab microphone, the audio is terrible, sorry to be blunt
My mate says the same. I like to try and keep them raw and natural. Is it really bad or hard to hear? I always think it sounds fine. Glad u enjoyed the video though
I changed from a 32 to a 38 chainring sprocket. I also used the stock chain without having to lengthen. I love my Rail 5 and have over 5000 miles on mine.😊
Mint video
I keep looking for the pot of gold
Whats your height, if you dont mind? Ill be picking the same up tomorrow in large.
I'm 5ft 8"
😂 I bought it for my Fs4 😂 very practical though 😁
Hey ,where did you get rear mudguard? The ones I've seen are crap, thanks.
Rapid racer. A friend of mine, jedmtb got one sent to review on his channel. You still get covered in mud
Hey dude ! Awesome material , very informative videos you do , I have question : what is your hight and what size of your bike is ? I wonder how you finding it since the latest generations of Trek bikes (including yours ) differ in terms of sizing/geometry from older generations .
Hi, glad you like the vids, I'm not that techy so I try to keep them simple. So I'm 5ft 8" . My rail which is in this video is a medium and my 2019/20 slash is a medium long. I struggled at first on the rail until I changed the mino (sure that's what it's called) link around. Now I feel like I'm sitting properly on the bike. When I first. Bought the rail I wasn't sure on size as some people suggested I went large while others suggested medium. My slash is a bit longer so that was where the size confusion lay, but realistically there's not a great deal of difference in my opinion. You wouldn't think there would be much of a difference between generations but my old remedy feels like a child's bike, it was comical when I sat on that in comparison.
What model bike is this? Thanks.
Trek rail 9.8xt 2022
Thanks for showing me and pugs around chopwell today mate 👍
No probs at all. Always good to meet new riders and show people about.
Nice one 😅 that looks fun 😮
WOW 😲 😂 Is it wrong to say this was fun to watch. 🤔
It was fun to video
Why have i resisted putting one on mine? Just makes sense
The fork issue isn't really an issue, you have to experiment with your high and low speed compression dials man
I changed the mino link setting on the back and that worked a treat. Also extended my zebs to 170 and its smooth as silk . I feel like I'm sitting in the right position now
Update. There is a mounting bracket for this which I assume will stop the stand from coming loose but it is £16. No thank you.
haha just waiting to drag you off the bike
If the fork "sags" then uppen the pressure and remove the volume spacers... Seen alot of riders with to low pressure and compensating with spacers. So they still have to much initial sag. But the high compression in the end of stroke gives less usable travel. Lighter riders often should use them. Heavier riders not so much. As long as sag is set between 10-20%.
I am a lighter rider. I did add more pressure and then added the spacer. Feels way better for me now
@@egbah428 Sounds good:) Do you use all travel?
@krusch75 I've bottomed the rear. As for the forks, I've come close, but no, not yet
How fast with this go ...like in mph ??
Bike is restricted to 15.5mph in Britain
@@egbah428 I don't think I'll be getting one then
@dave smith all e bikes are restricted to this in Britain but you can chip them so to speak, but it voids the warrenty.
@@egbah428 Way too slow for me, I could run faster than that...
@dave smith not gonna lie it is stupid and a pain in the ass especially when on the flat or when your hitting a jump that requires a bit of a pedal. That really does suck but you do get advantages like when your on a descend and you require a section where you have to pedal out or there is a sudden several seconds climb, you boost out which is fun. Also on big climbs where you have to do same climb several times to get to the trail starts, it is awesome, saving a lot of time and effort resulting in a lot more downs, depending on your battery of course. Time as well, you can easily hit 20miles within 2 -3 hours. Pros and cons.
dat aint no 8 footer
It's what the sign says above it.
@@egbah428 Thats like 3 or 4 feet
@ADS biking films I agree . It doesn't look as big in the video, but we all know videos never do justice. I assure you it definitely isn't 4ft.
Don’t normally comment on videos but I really enjoyed that, very informative lovely views great music, but I cringe at you bashing your £8000 Pound bike though some of them rocks 😊
Thank you, I have more lakes rides up on my channel if you are interested? Hopefully, I'll get used to the weight and bb height.
The one on the rear axle can be pulled off.
It is actually an Allen wrench. I removed mine so it wouldn't be lost.
I'm referring to the whole axel coming loose and the wheel flopping or falling off.
In the middle of a shvitz
I changed the dropper lever to a Wolf Tooth. The original was Shite. I agree with you regarding the tyres and the through axle tool. Almost lost it a few times already. I now just use my One up EDC tool to remove and tighten the bolts instead. I may change air spring to raise the fork to 170mm and the damper to either a 2.1 RC2 or a Charger 3 later for a bit more adjustability, Other than that, I'm enjoying the bike.
I changed my OEM dropper lever to a Wolftooth copy by ZTTO. Absolutely brilliant bit of kit.
Thanks for the video your feed back on this model is very interesting I have been considering getting the same bike after Christmas is it a bike you would recommend or should I give it a miss, never had an e bike before but do ride normal MTB.
Hi, glad you found the video OK. So basically this is my 1st ebike and I bought it for a few reasons. First the battery is easy to remove, charge and store. So you can keep the battery away from bike making it awkward for thief's but not impossible, also battery can be stored in a warm location. I was recommended this bike as I ride a 2019 trek slash. A lot of the pros and cons are personal choice like tyres and I prefer bigger travel with coil and spring, there just a lot smoother. As for the bike as a whole I love it and I have got used to it however I do like a lot of others find the front a bit low, hopefully extended travel and a higher bar will sort this out. Again personal choice. I would recommend it .

You thought about getting a speedi?
I have thought about it
@@egbah428 😆 ffs
@@jbloggs4161 if what your talking about is what I'm talking about? Its not the point, you shouldn't have to, extra cost and possible void of u know what
@@egbah428 haha yeah it's definitely what I'm talking about As far as I know the speedi doesn't affect "you know what" as it's just mechanical not plugged in. Don't think there's any way to detect
@@jbloggs4161 na it does. If you ride for so long at say 20mph it locks out the motor and requires a factory reset. This is on the new modes with the smart system thing. There is ways around it without a factory reset but it does effect the warrenty if you have to take it in. Or forget to remove said thing when claiming on warrenty.
Cracking vid! More of the same young man
Thank you, glad you liked it. Hopefully a lot more to come.
Hi,thanks for the review. I’m a new 9.9 xtr owner. I would have liked an 9.8 xt,but it was a 12 month wait. I’m told that a 600ml water bottle fits in the cage without any mods now due to the longer TT. My axle is still tight after 100 km,but I keep the axle lever in my backpack not on the bike. Agree that 25kph is too slow. I live in AU and across the ditch in NZ it’s 32kph. I’m hoping we’ll get enlightened soon, but I’m not holding my breath. Bike came with XR4 tyres ,so obviously there are still supply issues. I’m going to swap them out for some Maxxis soon. Thanks again for the heads up on the rear axle on the Rail, as my Trek Domane road bike does that and it’s annoying. One last thing..the tyre wiz and air wiz are a pain in the ….🙄Happy trails👍
Really nice bike this I got a rail 7 but just saw this at the trek shop today, the paintjob is brilliant I agree with everything said here though, the restriction is annoying but what about the warranty. Its a pain in the ass
It's a bit Hey Ho 😉
I know. When I edited it it seamed to be every scene which wasn't intentional but I liked it so I went with it.
