Mr. Jacobsen, Sir -- I commend you on your video and thank you for sharing. Great Imagery! Which make / model Thermal Spotter are you using? THANK YOU!
Fabulous stills & video Dennis, thanks for making this 👍
Thanks :) appreciated
Great vlog. Great video footage and great stills. Love the greenshank 👍
Thanks! yes it was a good day with these two species pretty close! :)
Nice video Dennis ! Ronny //
@@ronnyolsson2802 Thank you 🙏🏻😁
Fantastic foties and video Dennis 😃😃😃
Thank you 👍🏻😊
Nice
Thanks 😁
Very nice Dennis, You have me itching for the Z 400 f2.8 and the 2x converter lol.
Hehe sorry 😉 and thanks!
Great Video . Just Bought the 150-400 mm it is a absolute beast of a lens !
Nice!
Best comparison video!
Great Video! I have both systems also and enjoying them every second. The OM/olympus is an absolute beast! It is worth every penny!
Agree! both systems are super! :) thanks for your comment
I don't deny the results, but f2.8 vs f4.5 (f9) in a wide-open comparison has obvious results for dof, bokeh and brightness
I like the idea of using a short but wide rectangular AF area to exclude the grasses and shrubs and focus just on the bird. This is a useful technique to reduce distractions.
It works for me 👍🏻😁

Nice. Looks like a Short-eared owl to me, though,
Thanks 😁 its Long-eared 👍🏻
Never heard anyone say they hate cormorants.. I'd say most hated bird is a pigeon
I saw one yesterday
Crow in the back like "yeah bro you better fly away" 😂
😂 yep they gang up on it for sure!
I have been with Nikon for 53 years
Moin Dennis. Thank you very much for this helpfull video, where you talk about your used autofocus-settings. You explain it very simple and also for me easy to understand.. Greetings Karl-Heinz
Thanks you Karl-Heinz :)

Beautiful ❤
I have watched a few of yoyr videos over dome time. Looking threw your video list I see you have some experience with the Sony A1. I am wondering how the A1 compares to the Z9 & which you like better for wildlife (more so birds in flight) & overall use & why. Could be anything from AF to user experience & colors. I'm hoping to move to mirrorless within the next 12 months & haven't ruled out Canon even. Wish I could use a setup from all 3 for a month each but,,, Thank you for any replies.
Personally i like the Z9 better over all but i think A1 is a little faster locking on to birds and hold on in photo mode but maybe this will change if the rumored Z9 FW update is true with faster initial focus lock. But for hybrid shooting and features i like the Z9 better 🙂
@@DennisJacobsenWildlife Thank you!
Very helpful Dennis, thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience 👍
Thanks Dennis! A long time, I contemplated about going for the 400 f/2.8 TC or the 600 f/4 TC and settled for the latter, bc too often I found the reach of the 400 is not enough. Same here, I use narrow AF areas, bc as in your case, the AF would rather lock on the field in the foreground instead of on the bird.
Thanks for your comment :) i think no matter what lens you have you will find yourself en situations where you wished you had the other obtion :) :) both are great lenses! I wish Nikon could make the AF more sticky to the bird and the Z9 would prioritize birds more in in the frame. But the work arounds works :) i will say the A1 was better at this for birds .. but i still love the Z9 and Z 400mm more ;)
Great video Dennis. I shot that same setup for about a year but found I was often using the 2x tele for more reach. Ended up trading the 400 f/2.8 tc for the 600 f/4 tc. Haven’t had a chance to test it yet in the field but I’m excited to give it a try. I’ll also try your custom narrow but wide AF area. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for your comment :) i had the Sony GM 600mm and loved the reach but found myself in situations where i would wish i had 400mm more and more for hides, sports and lowlight etc. but both lenses are SUPER. NP i works for me so hope its works for you to :)
This is stunning Dennis taken with the Z9 ?
Thank you and yes from Z9 😁
@@DennisJacobsenWildlife Can you please share your settings? continuous focus / large area mode / tracking ?
@@TimSiggsCheck out my new video i put up yesterday i show my setting in that one 😁

Great review and advice, and a nice warehouse you have found for your office... 🙂
Thanks and haha yes isen’t it 😂 my first try with greenscreen 🎥
Excellent!
Great info. Cheers Dennis 👍
Thanks Michael :) cheers back
God video Dennis. 😁
Thanks :) appreciated
We'll miss you at Sony camp ..Hic!!
I did like the A1 for sure .. but don't miss Sony! The nordic branch is NOT on my Christmas present list! (long story) but they are not welcome in my space anymore ;)
Very nice Dennis, Pretty much how I use my Z9;)
Thanks :) i did find a lot of inspiration from other CZcamsrs on good ways to set it up :)
Great video. If I understand correctly: af-on is on 3D, shutter button in c1-c2 or auto and you change it via button mode depending of the situation.
Actually i hold the AF-ON to keep it in 3D tracking and when i let go i returns to whatever AF area i was in :)
8 months already. Wow.
The owl with the golden field. So good. ❤
Yes time flies :) and thanks! i had a super afternoon with the owls that day
Thank you for this video, I am about to purchase a Z9 and a 600mm f6/3 so great timing as this will be my first Nikon. Could i ask what memory cards you use and your thoughts regarding both card slots please ? Kindest Regards Paul
Thanks for your comment :) if you want to shoot large burst in RAW you need fast cards. I have 2 Angelbird AV PRO CFEXPRESS B SE 1TB cards in my Z9 and are super happy with the performance. Just be aware the 512GB cards are slower than the 1TB option if you go with Angelbird. Their support are also super helpful! i had some firmware problems and they sorted it out super fast.
Thank you very much Dennis I will look into these cards. Also thank you for taking the time to make your videos I really appreciate it. Regards Paul
Lol, my ex missus, now that's the most hated bird in the world,.
Why the comparison was not on equivalent focal length?
I compared them because i have both and to show what they can do out of the box 🙂 and what to expect from these 2 combos
By far one of the best vlogs on long eared owls! The camera work is fabulous!! Great job! Thanks
Thanks for the nice comment 😃 appreciiated!
Saw my first Hen Harrier today on Skye.
Thank you for showing this nice video, Dennis. And nice that you talk about a little bit of your autofokus-settings.
Ngl cormorants don't really deserve to be hated and not only that they are also quite friendly towards humans
Que lindo lugar 😍😍
Que hermosas 😍😍😊
Que exelente
Amazing photography. Thank you for sharing this. I only had my phone camera the day we saw a Northern Hawk Owl as it came to visit our Winnipeg Manitoba Canada garden so the photo makes a great “where is the owl ?” Photo !
