Amazing Metal Detecting Finds Shown To The F.L.O
zhlédnutí 1,5KPřed 6 měsíci
We recently met up with our F.LO (finds liaison officer) at the local museum to hand in some of our Metal Detecting finds that were found in 2022 and 2023. Some of the finds were classed as treasure and Mr Tweeds Bronze Age fragments also constituted as a hoard. Hopefully this gives you an idea of what its like when visiting the F.L.O and what is involved when handing over your finds. Special t...
Nice video! Sweet Big hello from new friends and subscribers from southern Europe!
Thanks for sharing more of the story and information. I really appreciate the content you create on your channels. Can't wait for your next video!
That was superb work!
Great job! 👏
Great video very informative really enjoyed listening to your commentary.
That is a great story about the "birthday lady".
Some great info in to your amazing find thanks for sharing I’m not very clued up on doing the research of permissions just happy to get out on what land I can get but the research part definitely sounds fun in it self Have you got plans of doing a vid on how you would start the research side of it thanks again keep it up
Michael, this really is the Christmas miracle! Some exceptional coins that you two retrieved. You will remember this forever. I really liked the video with the extra information it made a big difference. Yourself, Brian and myself are the brotherhood of the Evolution shovels. I purchased one from England when they first came out it’s a wonderful tool. Metal detecting I call the poor man’s treasure hunting. It is different in the USA. You mentioned the counties I wish we had a resource similar to the people you take your finds to. California where I live has 58 counties. The US has 3143 counties. I’ve always been a real investigator of the sites I choose to hunt. We only have about 176 years of history. But I have found two old Spanish coins from 1666. I really appreciate the work you put into your videos having been a television cameraman for 30 years.
what is the dater base she keeps saying and can we use it to look at
Hey Tom, I would love to know as well my friend. It could possibly be the PAS database but I’m not really sure buddy. If I ever find out I’ll let you know buddy 👍
Wow that's fantastic Michael! - A great skill you've got going there matey... 🙏 I Literally had *No* idea... (altho' I wud've guessed you'd apply heat in some way...). It's really good that you use wooden tools too I reckon, as there's a natural 'organic give' to wood as opposed to metal or stone hey?... Brilliant stuff mate, an' well done B 🐭 (Ps. my only problem is I have to actually *find* one now!...
You made that look really easy 👍fantastic job and all I need now is to find 1 😅🤞🤞👍
great video, now i'll have the confidence to straighten my own gold coins without being paranoid about damaging them! i've annealed a few silver hammerd's (a bit hit & miss), this seems a more stable metal to work with. cheers!
Brilliant insight 👏🏻
They're stunning! They dont look real. Hoping i find one, one day 🙏🏻.
That was really fascinating. Your finds liaison officer has an incredible visual memory. I was weirdly offended on your behalf when she called any of your finds cute. An odd response on my part.
The gold ring at 1:01 with carved jem stone I believe is a very old wax seal.
I'm surprised they let you film. Very informative and interesting to see the process.
I knew gold was soft but was surprised to see how actually soft it is. What a great find and a great video, really pleased you've started this channel along with your other one great idea well done. I decided to start my own detecting channel after I found so many coins at one of my permissions and missed them all, however my new permission produced an absolutely cracking Silver James VI Silver 1/4 Merk 1602 last week which I was proper happy about as it was my very first hammered 👍🏻 good luck with the new channel. All the best Ryan Mackenzie-Raymond (The guy you asked about an intro tune a while back, in case you wondered) 😁👍🏻
Well done Michael. Now all I need to do is find a hammered gold! Do you think your coin was clipped a bit?
It came out well. I never like to get too carried away and go too fast. Cheers John

Hey that's great fellas - and seemed like a most successful FLO visit all round... So different to my *own* visits where, instead of excited interest and 'Woos' from your FLO, there is much sighing and *Eye-Rolling* eminating from mine, as I attempt to pass off various items of scrap and 'chud', as: "Now I'm almost *sure* this is a Fibula!... What d'you think?..." etc. 'God loves a trier' as they say... Anyways really nice to see guys thanks 🙏 Ttfn, Bobby 🐭
Thanks for sharing this, very interesting. Love to see the finds upclose out of the field. Fantastic!
This was very interesting seeing how they look at and assess items. In America we don’t have anything like this except for some of the Native American finds. You did well.
I found that very relaxing and interesting to watch having done it myself many times over 45+ years of detecting. Great idea for a channel guys, really loved it, well done 😁👍
That was a very interesting video. Thanks. Maybe you could make a follow-up on what was shown so we get to see them as well. It would be very instructive. /Patrik
