My bother, Jim, and I had the privilege of working with Forrest at International Media Service. So, I appreciate this video immensely. At 32:02, he gave his approach to news. He was THE absolute standard of fairness and being in the room with him as he interviewed politicians and important leaders of all perspectives I know, firsthand, that he lived by the code he stated in this interview. People also should know that Forrest was instrumental in allowing C-Span to cover events outside of the Capitol beginning with the National Press Club luncheon events in the early 1980's. A wonderful boss and a wonderful reporter.

Intelligent questions, thoroughly enjoyed listening to my favorite screen composer.

I always loved Forrest Boyd's news broadcasts on Christian radio stations.

This was a great interview! Jerry Goldsmith was one of the greats and he had so many interesting things to say! I appreciate that you let him speak and finish his thoughts; that seems to be a problem with many interviewers nowadays.

Don was a great guy. Whenever I'd travel with my journalist dad, we brought and extra baseball glove for Don. We had great times playing catch at the Gene Autry hotel in Palm Springs. Sorry to hear he passed.

I was fortunate enough to Interview his son Joel Goldsmith for my Podcast back in 2008 .. And Joel was awesome at telling me lots of stories of working with Jerry on some of his films. Jerry is my idol and a huge inspiration on my own music. He was, and still is .. the best! And I remember going to Jerry Goldsmith’s 75th birthday concert in London at the barbican hall .. with the LSO. Sadly Jerry was too I’ll to travel but Dirk Bruge did a fantastic job of conducting for Jerry .. and that was the first time I’d heard Jerry’s music played live. Nothing beats hearing the ST:TMP theme by a full orchestra .. and the Gremlins suite.

Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. Now retired, I spent a 48-year radio career working for affiliates of ABC, Mutual and CBS before finally landing at a CBS subsidiary and doing some correspondent work for CBS news and sports. These logos will always be etched firmly in my mind. Thanks again.

I use the ABC Information sounder as my ringtone. I remember hearing it late at night from far away cities as a kid in the 70's.

Does anyone remember AP Network News's big brassy news sounder from the 70's & 80'S? I'd like to find a recording of it. I'm also trying to find the various cues used by CBS Radio for different types of programming, one for sports, another for commentaries, another for lifestyle features and so on, that were based on the iconic six-note News on the Hour sounder.

@2:30 having grown up without (or perhaps, more likely, unaware of) a local affiliate in my area of downstate Illinois in the 80s, this is first time I've heard the Mutual News sounder. It can't get over the sonic resemblance, particularly of the "The World Today" theme, to Score Productions' later ABC News theme. As they say, Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. ETA the word "later"

Actually KLOS, an ABC owned FM station with a rock format, also used ABC FM Network news
