Unedited video. It was 99 degrees in the shade and hotter on track, but I was able to go spin a few laps for fun in the afternoon at the #ridgemotorsportspark. Some slow laps out in the Advanced Group. Not setting any lap records here but you can see the front mounted GoPro hero on my 2017 BMW S10000RR. My DOT tires were shredded, I had new gearing I wasn't used to yet and several other excuses not running a better pace. #s1000rr #ridgemotorsportspark #bmws1000rr #optimumperformance #brembobrakes #ohlins #motogear #hindle #woodcraft

Control Riding for Advanced Group August 5th, 2023. The first few laps were slow for Advanced (2 minutes plus) but after sorting through traffic, lap times came down into 1:53s by GPS lap timer. The video shows my traction control going off a LOT (flashing yellow light top left) as the rear tire spins out of corners. The Pirelli Diablo Slicks (200/65 rear) were worn all the way through the wear...

    The dude you shook your head at around 1:17 had made a series of corner diving passes around me just two sessions prior (ex. diving into 11 and slamming on the brakes in front of a line of bikes). I saw that - was right behind you folks there. Guy was on one. Definitely on pace - but not terribly fast. (Also "hello" at 2:59)

      The pass at 1:17 was more of a 'swoop' than a pass. The official guidelines are to leave 6 feet of space for any pass, and to be predictable, and to follow a line. If you enter a corner on a wide line, stay there. If you enter a corner on an inside line, stay there. The swoop from inside to outside is too close to several bikes and runs the risk of pushing someone off the track. yes we were going very slow as part of a warm up lap, and the pass was not warranted. Passing while the bikes are upright is good, but in this just case, it wasn't necessary. It's B- folks, not A group. Hello @ 2:59 - well, my student's KTM topped out at about 105mph, and as an instructor my job is was help him and stick to his pace. If anyone passes you in an unsafe manner, you can exit the track and go into the hot pit and tell the track marshal at track entry, who can alert a track marshal to find the bike and watch it. We want everybody to be respectful and safe, and control riders don't always see behaviors that they should talk to a rider about. When I am out instructing, I will notify control riders to go talk to another rider who does something bad, but when I am working with a student I cannot leave that student to go chase a guy down.

      lost the rear. The pavement shows the rear end kicking out just prior to the mark in the ground where the peg hit. And you can see in the video the rear end rotates out so the front points back at me. I was convinced after the crash that I had lost the front, and it was only after studying the video that I concluded that the rear had suddenly gone out without any warning. I guess I just need to not run a set of slicks so long.

    Hi, I'm thinking of running 16/44 gearing on my 16 s1000rr. How do you like it. Are you 120 or 118 links. Has it affected turn in at all. Thanks.

    • @seraphim38
      @seraphim38 Před 3 lety

      I like the 16/45. But in talking with the factory BMW tech and several MotoAmerica guys running the ridge, the suggestion is closer to 15/41. I can see how it might be worth it for gearing and taking advantage of the powerband on this track, but my bike is already wanting to wheelie all the time as it is. I think i am at 118. I miggt go down to 15 after i chanhe my Ohlins TTx spring to be stiffer.

      @@seraphim38 OK cheers for the reply. I really like my 16/45 but deciding between 16/44 either 118 or 120 links. I'm after a tiny bit more top but not much still enjoy the 16/45 acceleration and I think 16/44 will be perfect for street and track overall.

      @@benmeager8744 16/45 to 16/44 won't be a huge change. It all depends on what you want to do with it and where. My axle is somewhat far back in the swingarm, because I like the longer wheelbase; the bike wants to wheelie bad enough as it is. There are a few spots on this track where the different gearing would help, but I haven't been in a hurry to go down 2 in the front
