I love using multiple LFOs in synth sound design. 2 is the very fewest i want to use, as i "need " one to be set to slowly modulate various parameters like filter and pwm, and then a much faster one tied to aftertouch for quick bursts of modulation as a performance feature. I also like to have more, so i can modulate the PWM pitch and the filter all at different rates, and at different shapes, so that you end up with sounds where all of that interacts in interesting/intricate ways

In my hardware days back in the 90s , i would layer my Juno 106 with any one of my FM synths to create more interesting textures. For bass, the mix of an FM synth for the bite/details ,and an analog synth for the"girth" is a classic Industrial /EBM trick I also like using this method to make leads, where I had a bell or guitarish pluck etc sound with velocity responsivity mixed with an analog synth for body./warmth/ filtery goodness. I always wished for an analog synth with a line in, so i could run the FM synth through the filter too, but, alas, this was not a feature any synth i had could do. FM synths, or even ROMplers with filters were rare at the time, and for people with a lot more money than me. I would also layer my Kawai K4 and my TX81z to create a "poor man;s SY99" . The setup for this was a PITA, especially patching and repatching the MIDI and effects pedals etc whenever i wanted to change sounds, but the results were often extraordinary especially for the times and what I had to work with The level of hassle i had in managing all of the gear just to get it sounding good and working together correctly is why i work mostly in the box these days. I do not miss it.

Bringing back the memories, my first synth, bought new in the 1980's, the JunoAlpha2. It had the best AT Keybed I have ever used, complete control. Juno still stands the test of time, works great in your song for 2024.

OMG, thank you for doing this, the 800 was my first synth and I recorded all our original band songs with it. I still have it, even though the sequencer is having issues haha, but I still play around with it. I used the hell out of that sequencer, couldn't tell me I wasn't Nick Rhoads haha

I love the easy sound design on the Korg Poly-800! What synthesizer (hardware or software) did you learn synthesizer sound design on? What is your synthesizer "main axe?"

There is an application for the modx to manage sound banks with samples, it allows you to work on samples and especially to make multi samples. It is paid but very powerful: it,'s the Waveform Editor from John Melas. What do you think about this app ?

You make this synthesizer play like nobody heard before now. Very very good synthesizer sounds.

Great demonstration of sounds. Don't know much about this synth, or the original Freak. Don't have a personal favorite synth for mangling sound, just whatever synth I am deep diving into at the moment. This year exploring the Kurzweil VAST synth with its 32 stack of modules, been hearing about this synth for 35 years, finally had a chance to buy and explore.

The Arturia MiniFreak can mangle sounds with ease. What favorite synthesizer do you use for mangling your sounds?

Hmm...as a concept, i try to avoid modulation between LFO, mainly because the results tend to be of a more complex mathematical nature wich is difficult to handle by ear. But it always lies in the moment in the idea or what i am able to hear. I would say there a certain grades of modulation ranging from bareley noticeable to chaotic. At least i wanna say that complex modulation require visible tools like OLED displays to really be enjoyable to me, because its like painting.

I miss my SUBSEQUENT 37 now.
