Scaler - May Demo Reel (C) 2001 - Artificial Mind & Movement

Found a CD with this trailer for what appears to be an early build of the game Scaler for PS2/GameCube/Xbox. I have no affiliation with the company or game I'm just uploading for posterity.
Mind Blaster

Mind Blaster, written using XNA, demo'ed at PDC09. The game is played using a Neurosky MindSet headset with a Wiimote strapped to the top for head-tracking. Learn more at bit.ly/mindblaster
What is the game at 1:27:00?
I think it's Jet Moto for PS1.
16:04 Child:mom. Why You sing cringe Gloria Estefan:i paid your psx You dipshit
There are some games in this video that I never heard from before. Definitelly going to pick up some of them. Like that 2d sidescroller before the Tomb Raider demo.
It is like a timecapsule back to the golden age of gaming. When every year gamings were getting better and better. Good times.
9:22 They removed that right? You had to pull yourself out of the water from the edge/ledge, you couldn't just "JUMP" out of water could you?
No this is not possible in the normal retail version.
Tomb raider stole the show
1:36:13 Bubsy 3D the best <<3 I genuinely adore that game. It's really good, though this build seems rather janky. Physics and camera clearly aren't finished yet, and seems rather stiff to play as opposed to how smooth everything feels in the final release. They showed Catatomic Catastrophe (lv. 3) and Zzzotz Nice (lv. 12), though the latter one is more interesting as it looks completely different from the final version. EDIT: Hummers score 800 points instead of 500 in this build???
Looks like if it is running on a Dreamcast
Crash Bandicoot 1:29:37
when I got my n64 in late '96 (South Africa) I got so many new friends lol
this is epic
Great memories, I was Senior Editor for VGA and did business with Joe from Tronix. Good guy. Truly the golden age.
1:08:27 Rayman on Atari Jaguar of course PS1 is the definitive version.
1:29:40 Crash Bandicoot 🦊
19:57 Super Mario 64 20:21 The game was supposed to have 100 stars in total. This was changed in the final
Thank You @Notrandom_gmaing that really helped me out! 😉
@@StuffyXP No problem!
What an exciting time to be a gamer, indeed.
37:39 Even there, no mention of RPGs lmao
The main character could be a good monster for Dead by daylight.
2:33 Fireteam Rogue... looks like this one never got released. There's a very nice, lengthy articles about it on SNES Central.
You're twisting my metal!!
What's this!? 32X footage of X-Men with Wolverine playable I take it. I wonder if the leaked ROM with only Bishop is the earlist version. 1:02:07
Sony Computer Entertainment press conference?
6:52 a lo que venimos
1:34:58 - that looks generic enough to serve as an "FPS" in a TV show/movie or something.
Crazy to think the Switch that sits on the desk in front of me is many times more powerful than the console or even arcade platforms being shown at this show - and it's far from the most powerful mobile chipset. Granted, this was 26 years ago, but I'm old enough to appreciate the advances.
Good lord this build is completely different from the final game.
1:55:56 What is the name of this game?
Astal (1995)
@@uzziel524 Thank you kind man ;)
Wow, how rare would one of those empty boxes from the cancelled 3DO port of ISIS be today? 35:21
16:03 So cool seeing an early buit of Blam Machinehead
omg i love this.. its like a blend of spyro, crash bandicoot and croc! i like the game as it is but i cant help but wonder what could've been.
Scaler أفضل لعبة بالنسبة لي
33:30 Does anyone have the full version of this game cut music? Maybe in mp3 format. Or at least what the song is called. She is very cool, I have been looking for her for a hundred years - since 1996, when I was 15 years old. Thanks ;)
I'm guessing it was a piece commissioned specifically for that showreel of games, doesn't sound like anything from any specific game.
Techocut
@@StuffyXP Thank you I already found this composition over a year ago :) L.A.P. - Technocut (1992)
Such a shame to see Comanche and FX Fighter for SNES being axed as they looked great for SNES' FX Chip. I would imagine FX Fighter would sold quite well for Nintendo and give SEGA's Virtua Fighter some competition (Would of sold poorly due to the Saturn port being out). No idea why Doom (which is a PC game) was released and not FX Fighter.
It would be amazing to have the original file without youtube's compresión
The original capture off my vhs tape isn’t much better, but happy to try uploading the video to archive.org…
@@BrianPeek This - has everything to do with quality/degradation of VHS and little to do with CZcams compression.
35:38 That's the music from Star Trek DS9 Promo from 1994!
That early beta build of Twisted Metal 2 at 1:46:57 is so intresting! The text "Run Away!!!" when Grasshopper's health was red and then "Man You're Pathetic!" when DeadHead (Hammerhead's early name) destroyed her. And Shadow's beta name "Undertaker". This game was my childhood and I hope so badly this build gets found again and released one day! Would absolutely love to play it
I remember seeing a clip where Mr Slam's beta name was " Bam Bam"
one of bubsy 3d you got it
Watching this you would never have guessed that Playstation were miles ahead of the rest. Looks very even between the big 3.
imo they never won because of graphics, it was all about the pricing of the console and marketing done better.
@@hellwashere3821 Marketing for sure was a HUGE thing in this era. Playstation became "cool" and once that happened it was difficult for the other two to compete. Strangely especially Sega because that was their market in the previous generation
@@hellwashere3821 and the pricing was deceptive since it didn't come with the game or a second controller or memory like the Saturn. It was all smoke and mirrors. After you added those things that actually was more expensive than the Saturn. 🤦🏻♂️
@@Gorilla_JonesWell PlayStation had 3 things going for it in Europe/UK, 1. It was marketed to young adults as opposed to kids, installed in Night Clubs etc, had a lot of futuristic looking games or games with techno soundtracks. 2. Game prices were £10-£20 less than N64 games. 3. FMV, (especially as unlocks) Finish Tony Hawks with a specific skater and get a FULL VIDEO of that person skateboarding. Even had video playing on billboards in the second level (and others). People were already starting to get turned off of Sega, because the last two things were OK, but not great AND you had to already own a Mega Drive to use them. 32X and Mega CD, 32X, hardly anyone had/was slated everywhere, Mega CD didn't have much games that weren't either on the Mega Drive already, but with added soundtracks/videoclips , and of the Mega CD FMV games, MOST were the same everytime you played them, not much difference for replayability. Plus Sony were NEW and EXCITING to the console market.
31:00 Killing Time on 3DO! I LOVED this game! It's painful to play today, but I really enjoyed the way they blended in the transparent FMV characters for the story. Far easier to play on GOG today.
Rayman 32X at 59:10. Thanks to Pandamonium
I'd love to know what other unreleased 32X games were shown/playable at the show. I'd love to hear from people who were there.
What's the song at the intro?
Where the full Sony conference
2 hours and yet not a single second of Virtual Boy :(
That was about the hardest thing possible to show off or film. Still gives me a headache thinking about playing it.
@@rushnerd they had TV monitors showing gameplay footage on the floor
Amazing video.
Wasn't RE out this year or was it the previous I can't remember I just remember being really excited for the launch and my mother telling me there is no way in hell I'd be getting it 😂 long story short.... She was wrong haha
25 Years of Electronic Entertainment Expo (1995-2020)
RIP Sony pulling out was the end.
@@RobertK1993 Doesn't Microsoft still do E3? Btw, I know your comment is over a year old, but I still felt like asking.
@@G.L.999 E3 dead since 2018
R.I.P. the fun and games.
34:40 I had no idea Kirby Air Ride was planned as an N64 game...
Wanna play? Nah, just watching
Interesting to see bits of an earlier version of Meteor from Star Fox 2. I wonder why nobody ever does research into the early versions of Star Fox 2.
I've done a bit, but the currently known prototypes jump between "really early" and "Release candidate" with little in-between.
