Welcome to
the Urban Gardener
a Garden Adventure Vlog?, or Program?, or Show?, or more like a Video Magazine of Gardening Variety. At least that is how I envision it anyway.
We have a few unique growing situations, where we try to grow as much food for ourselves with the space we have.
We grow food on a cement patio with above ground raised beds, we grow food in our alleyway spaces, we grow food in water wicking containers, we have even grown food on our carport rooftop!
Having the knowledge and ability to garden and grow your own food is a fun and rewarding pastime that not only gives you delicious nutritious food to eat, but also gives you a healthy peace of mind.
Every episode is a Garden Adventure, either here in our garden spaces or on the road visiting other gardeners and their garden projects.
Maybe even you someday!
So join us, and subscribe to our channel, also hit the bell to be notified of upcoming episodes. Don't forget to leave us some comments too.

In this week's Garden Journal, we are checking out the various tomato varieties that we are growing around the urban garden spaces. Plus I was gifted a few really cool tomato cages that I will assemble and I still need to plant out a couple more varieties in our giant grow bags. You didn't mention the type of soil you are using. Did you make it yourself, or is it bagged? Recipe?
Thanks. Pray to Jesus for guidance
Congrats on the new arrival! She is super adorable! Can't wait to see her on the show!🥰
I caught the rest of the show on replay. No worries, this show will forever be known as the Leila Granddaughter show!😂😂😂
Replay time😊 It’s raining again Sydney Australia , no watering required 😊 Baby ?🍼 Congratulations 🎉 Layla Green ❤ Grandpa Enoch 5-1/4 and hard floppy disk was 3-1/2 Remember the phones Brick to now Apple Phone 512 Mb
...also, finally getting through the rest of the episode but totally agree with Jay about the heavy music on Scott. It's too 'street' for an easygoing garden guru. On the monthly book club intro I think the music is perfect and everything else. I like to put a white outline around lettering like that. It makes is easier to read and stand out from the background...but I do like the background you've got. I used to use a faded outline but in my more recent thumbnails I am moving to a sharper look with just a regular white outline and personally, I like it better.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏾 😊
I found a new preset that should look really cool on the next reel. 😅
CONGRADULATIONS on the Grandy!! 🎆 Oh, also, our first grand son was born 49 minutes before July 4th of 2018. 😂😂😂
Sad I missed yesterday. Had to work then Mrs Bowtie and I crashed hard! Watching today. @Serena Norrell , those strawberry seeds need cold stratification and take an unearthly long time to germinate under 'perfect' conditions. When I germinated mine I put them in a ziploc baggie in the fridge with a damp paper towel for a month then in the cabinet above the fridge for a couple/few weeks. They are hard to start but not impossible. I am really not sure about direct sowing. * I know that will not tag Serena but hopefully she sees this.
Thanks so much for having me on! Happy Growing! 💚
Our community garden is full of people of all ages
Great points! Really speaks to the wonder of gardening. I'm looking forward to starting the book as well as watching the live replay
Lovely chat! Great video!
Great advice! ❤
Lovely chat! Great video!
Wow, only .75 cents? So, 2 would only cost 1.5 pennies. Nice.
GREAT SHOW, ENOCH!!! I ALWAYS enjoy Mark, and of course, you know I love Christy's book! It was a lot of fun for me to hear her talk about it :) Can't wait for the sequel!! Thank you so much!!!!!! :)
Wow! It's nice to see Sarah. I got a lot of seeds from Sarah's seed shop.
Hi, Enoch. In my garden I let a mullein grow. Now it's as tall as me (5') and has yellow flowers on a massive spike. And there are some wild and cultivated milkweed for the butterflies if they come over this year. The Monarch. Your channel has become an amazing place and I am proud of you.
Sandy from Illinois. I don't know why it says MsSunwatcher. That's so old. The internet is so mysterious. It's like trying to swim in oatmeal. Keep well.
❤😊❤
The peppers look better than a lot of the peppers you find at big box stores.
Oh my where did our freedom to speak go? Wish you the best. Bye
Cheers Enoch, good show!
Great stuff enoch! ❤
Full scale WAR on Canadian farms and it's people. 23%carbon tax plus more taxes on the way. The Canadian government invoked the war measures act on us the last time we tried to peacefully discuss decisions/mandates that absolutely destroyed our country, businesses and families. Most people now believe this destruction is intentional and intended to weaken and starve our families until we accept anything the government offers. I really hope I'm a crazy conspiracy theorist. Always appreciate your gardening tips&tricks🌱💞
Not about politics but that's what happens when governments get too big and over step. Same crap in the states.
@@STEAMpuzzle I seen the governments in all countries have been working in lockstep to destroy our families and futures. Take care out there🌱Don't trust the government law or military their all gutless jackboot wearing thug cowards. WE STAND THEY FALL💉
I'm glad you mentioned peppers will bounce back. I've learned this also in my years of gardening. I know so many gardeners that think once they see stress they're done for. I'll do a post on The "Let's Get Growing! A Gardening Group" FB page about my peppers.
Nice vid! Mistakes are learning
Currently here in the UK, hardening off peppers is a joke, actually the opposite... The peppers cease growing or doing anything in fact outdoors because the weather is so bad. They are screaming to come back indoors. Roll on some sun!
The algorithm knows what I like 😏😂👍💯
Love it! Thanks for watching!
I LOVE YOUR BEING REAL ENOCH!! You are a terrific encourager for new gardeners, as well as us more experienced...and yep, we all have embarrassing moments...right now I have my last picking of peas in a basket drying up because I was more involved in replanting the space! I'm just going to let them finish drying in a cool dry place and see if they will work for fall pea planting?? We shall see. I love these videos of yours!!!!
So nice of you, thank you so much! Things happen don't they.
Thanks for another great video. It is nice to see some of the mistakes that even experienced gardeners sometimes make and the lessons that can be learned.
So nice of you, yes, learning opportunities are always around the corner. You never know when they will pop up.
@L P @theelpydimension The second outer solo cup acts as a water reservoir.
Enoch, they should rebound . For others if not either buy some starts or plant seeds directly. It happens.
Another lesson learned, huh.
Great video!! So I tried this last year, and was always paranoid that the roots wouldn't go deep enough to reach the water reservoir (especially when the plant is smaller). I used the exact same construction you did. How do the roots reach the water? Where is the actually wicking taking place? Thanks again for a very informative video.
Thank you. The point of the container isn't to get the roots to reach the bottom, it's to get the water to wick up into the soil of the top bucket. That's what the soil packed into the net pot does, it accesses the water and helps the soil pull the water up into the soil for the roots to grow into. Some plants roots systems will grow into the reservoir and that is okay and if they die off and the water get gross then just wash out the reservoir bucket and add new water. I hope that helps.
@@theUrbanGardenerwhere do you get the net pots?
Nice video! I hate to admit it but your burnt peppers still look better than my neglected peppers. 🤦♀️😆 Yours have great looking root systems. Question: why double Solo cups? Also, how much sun do yours get? Im always curious because i get early shading in my yard. Thanks for sharing. 🙋♀️
They all get different levels of sun in their different locations but they all get about 6 or more hours of sunlight. The second solo cup is a reservoir and holds water for feeding from the bottom. You are welcome! Happy to. Thanks for watching!
Ah okay that makes sense for the 2nd cup. Thanks!
Sorry I missed this. Was on a fishing trip. What a great show. Love this show
Thank you for the compliment, it's a pretty good show and thanks for all of the support. We'll catch you on the next one!
Caught half the show then replayed what I missed. Great show as always. Thanks guys
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for leaving a comment! See you on the next one!
I like Mark because he gets straight into what he is presenting and his enthusiasm, not too much talk but action and straight to the point. “Let’s get into it” Many CZcamsrs drag out their show just to irritate their viewers and drag out the time.
I couldn't agreemore! I enjoy Mark's content because it is so practical, I want nothing more than to "get into it" as soon as the video is finished! 🙂
Thank you for inviting us on to your show today! We had a great time!
It was my pleasure to have you two on. Thank you for taking the time to be with all of us! 😃
I missed the live stream 😢
I hope to see you at our next one! 😃
Thanks for having me on your show, Enoch! All the best mate :)
It truly is all our pleasure to have you on with us today we are very honored! Thank you for taking the time to be here with us and supporting our show. So glad you enjoyed it! We'll have you back on soon! So many exclamation points! Oh my! G'day Mark!
loved this interview, thank you both 🙂Sydney Aus
Hi, Mark. I've watched your show for years! What a treat it is to see you on Enoch's show! Welcome, Mate.
Is Leo Carver descended from George Washington Carver?
I am not sure.
I love it when I get to be in your grdens via my laptop! I knew the squash would bounce back. I have a feeling this will be a great year for tomatoes...you are going to have a boatload...like Rick said, Ketchup!! I can send you a tasty recipe if you need it :) Thanks Enoch, your summer is off to a happy start...and can't wait to see your new rooftop garden!! Better inform your neighbors so the cops won't pay you a visit!!! LOL
LOL! I know right! I will have to get that recipe and try it sometime.
Very nice garden Enoch!
Thank you! In my mind it's still has a way to go, but it's good to know I am making progress.
Thanks for the shout out Enoch. The Mortgage lifter has always performed well for me here in the valley
That's good to know, I hope they all get through this summer alright.
Nice video. Wonderful gardens. 😊
They are coming along, lots more to do to get them where I want.
Sorry that I missed this Premiere. I had volunteer work elsewhere. I like the look of those wooden tomato cages.
Those work really well and are really inexpensive to make.
Ketchup😁🇦🇺
Maybe you could buy one more container and stack it (no holes at the bottom) to keep the leachate contained 🤷🏽♀️ I’m definitely doing this :) thank you 😊 bc I didn’t want to purchase that expensive bin😅
You don’t want to do that. As I explained in the video, you don’t want to have liquid coming out of the bottom as that is a sign of your bin being too wet and can cause your bin to go anaerobic and start killing off worms. Don’t listen to anyone telling you this. They make those bins that have spigots on them and those are misleading because that “leachate” isn’t the worm tea people think it is. There is a simple process to make tea out of your castings that I am going to make a video on soon. Just don’t let your bin get that wet, and if it does add some more paper, cardboard, or dried leaves to soak it up before the bin gets dangerous for your worms.
