Many RNs with their associates are working in major hospitals. I don’t know of any nurses working for such small amounts of money. The department of labor and statistics provide me some way outdated data here. Even LPNs are making more money than what was mentioned here.

I got an MPA and have worked for the US federal government for the last 17 years. My advice to you is to specialize in a particular area and supplement your degree with a certification of some sort. But more importantly, and this is where most people fail, you need to develop your network and figure out how to make yourself stand out and do not think that a degree alone will help you do so.

I have just recently graduated with my Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and am looking into grad school. I am trying to decide if I still want to pursue my Masters in Social Work, or if I would like to pursue an MPA. I've mainly had entry-level experience with non-profits but am looking to step into more leadership/managerial roles. I love youth work and the connections I make, but I believe it has served its purpose.

Pursuing an associate degree is not a bad idea as long as it leads to a career in a field that is currently in demand and won't be quickly replaced by automation. For like I have an option with my associate degree in general studies credits to qualify for the mortuary science program. Hey, that's a career I don't see automation taking over soon, and my apologies for sounding insensitive but that professional isn't going anywhere because everyone is going to pass away.

However i have righ voulnteer and community engagment presence becasue of this degree and my personal insterest that lead me to it. But in 2009 instead of pursuing MLIS, life happened. And years later ive been working in a low level job to pay the bills but beginning my journey onto my next season of life. Ready to persure a more passionate carreer. Thank you for this video!
