Her ex was still in love with her, so he killed her boyfriend at the time and framed her mom sense her mom also didnt like him, she was guilty so she went to jail and got back with her ex. On the last episode she figures out her boyfriend was the one that killed him

My favorite scenes are usually always with Emily for some reason, lol, i just love hiw they can humanize her. But at the same time my most frustrated and sometimes triggered moments watching the show are also with her. She reminds me a lot of my mom. Stubborn, and set in her ways, sometimes awfully critical that you wonder if she cares, but fiercely loyal and will stop at nothing to try to bring her family together.
