I was confused at first as to why future Milo seemed saddened or upset when he saw the picture, but I think it's because he realized that fixing the time machine wasn't important in restoring his friendship, saving his friend was all that mattered. He let his dreams get in between himself and the person he cared about and he's distraught that he was so blind about something that was eating away at him for most of his life

I think Future Milo got caught in the time machine exploding and got sent back in time without his control (and also likely wasn't able to save Finnegan as well) and ended up going back decades and he spent the entire time planning for this day to come so he could stop his young self from getting caught in the explosion and perhaps fix the time machine so he could return to where he belongs. Future Milo holding Present Milo back briefly could've been what saved him from getting caught in the explosion. The reason Future Milo disappears at the end is likely due to Present Milo not getting sent back in time to complete the loop, the change in history made it to where there was no reason for him to exist there. He likely knew this could happen, which was why he wanted to fix the time machine so he could go back home, but Present Milo and Finn destroying it is what seals his fate, which is very damn sad.

In my opinion this is the best animation to come of this trend, the dissapointed expressed through the hands and eyes is so well-conveyed and then the subtle shift of his eyebrows making a massive change in expression without making a big change at all, mwa!

i watched this when i had tonsilitis and i randomly woke up at i think 6 in the morning. honestly one of the only good things of that period

I watched this, listened to it. Enjoyed the animation, was hit with a heavy dose of existential dread by the music. This video actually made me think. Then I find out the audio is from a phone game, my singing monsters. I guess self referential inspiration can come from anywhere nowadays

some light context I made cause I'm new: After arguing with his son about not wanting to rule the kingdom, he sits on his throne thinking about why his son treats him like nothing more but a father who only plans his child's future, all he wants is his prince to find somebody who can care for him. But he then realized why; he had become the man he wished he would never become; his own father, who forced him to do everything he says. He'd felt lonely and uncomfortable until he found his mistress... He sits, thinking what his next move would be... what do you think happens next? Do you think he'll come back to his senses and apologize?

More Milo content! I was excited to see this pop up in my recommended, it's like seeing the train scene from the Glorious animatic in full color. And I love the color scheme going on here, the dull industrial blues and browns with the golden orange landscape. Combined with the sort of old movie filter, it has a really nice effect, definitely gives off the feel of memory that the MAP is supposed to. The framing in that first shot's really gorgeous, like he's staring at a painting of sunflowers. And I love the subtle motions of the train cars, and of the buildings of the city as they materialize. Beautiful stuff!
