It lost it way because all there were mangroove before they build West Mall. Its sad i feel sorry for the animals😢

Trying to build a Miami beach? It's a shame then we'll hear flooding in Woodbrook but the first place to get flooded would be them.
This is so sad. The crazy thing about it is Trinidad is NOT an overpopulated country, therefore, we have no need to destroy nature habitats like these mangroves to put up housing/accommodation, but as you said - the derwk chin vision of the world. The even sadder part is this was done on the hush, because citizens would have kicked a fuss for sure regarding the environmental impact. I would NOT be shocked if this is the work of very wealthy individuals, who finances well to the point they can get ALL approvals from all governing authoritities without an eyelash being batted against it. This is really saddening. Thank you SO MUCH for elightening us with this.

I am now 71 years old. My parents and my 3 siblings lived in Petit Valley during the 1950's and Mrs. Avebrouk was our landlady. The street was named after her husband, I believe, Leo Bass Avenue. As a child, I remember her coming to receive the rent(?). In the terrible flood of 1960(?) many of these houses including our own were completely covered by the floodwaters, some people had to be taken out by boat!
@@yvettenorgrove2172 I have heard people who grew up in Diego Martin talk about that flood. I did not know that Leo Bass was the husband's name, thank you for that information.

I remember when they pulled out the mangrove trees from the area behind what used to a fish market in that area. I believe they claimed the trees would be replanted in another mangrove. But I drove pass every day and saw the uprooted trees on the ground slowly withering away. They were never replanted. I believe the fish market had to close down. I wonder what happened to all those fishermen?

So many buildings in this world for foolishness, it's absurd, all of that land just for buildings and they keep cutting down more more vegetation,. They also do the very minimum, if they do decide to restore a decent quantity of it. Does this vast amout of concrete jungle we have in this world actually benefit us....
Promises, promises and distractions as the world gets worse every month, its not going to happen, and if it does folks wont be enjoying it.....
Heart breaking indeed. Humans and their greed, when God ready for them. I hope that I'm not to near to them.

Are we going to destroy all our envoronmental sensitive areas and do we really have complete tourism plan. First it was plan for Sandals which would have been an environmental disaster, next was Kiligyn bay area now this. The question is what are the benefits for Tobago ,what are the linkages
I agree that the Kiligyn bay area would not be a good area for a hotel as it would require filling in the swamp. For Rocky Point I do not believe that the land on the top with the high grass is ecologically sensitive rather it is the beach that is a nesting site for turtles. Having a hotel is not the end of the nesting turtles. As I stated in the video the village of Grande Rivier has shown how it can be done as there are 3 hotels that directly front the beach and it has not reduced the turtle nesting. There are strategies that are employed and these can be used at Rocky Point. While tourism has a high import content usually vegetable farmers, fishermen, egg, chicken and pig farmers benefit from selling to the hotels. In addition taxi drivers and tour guides get customers from the hotels, not forgetting the locals who are employed directly in the hotels.
You really threw me for a loop with your intro that was not your voice...so I had to fast forward to see what to expect. Now that I see the images but dont hear your voice...will check out another time
Periodically I like to experiment with different approaches to making my videos. I only used the different voice for the first 30 seconds of the video and then I narrated the rest of the video, I would appreciate if you could find the time to look at the whole video and tell me what you think.
The government is spending tax payers money to promote sustainable development. The government needs to understand that there is also sustainable tourism development and therefore no more hotels or brick and concrete must be built on our sea front. There is no doubt that global warming is a reality and our beachfront areas are now sacrosanct. Hotel development is no longer about room numbers but about quality. Additionally the primary purpose of tourism development is to benefit the local population. So the government and in particular the THA under whose purview tourism development resides must ensure that their policy highlight small to medium sized properties owned and managed by the local population and further ensuring that the leakage of much needed foreign exchange is minimised by developing the Agricultural and service sectors.. More importantly the focus should be on quality, and service and not on room numbers. An Island of 116 square miles cannot afford this lopsided development. Tourism development yes but not Rocky point development. Sustainable tourism development isva whole lot more than preserving the turtles nesting site and artifacts.
