Fine roll hem for sheers
This roll hem answers a question one of my students had when we were in the study collection at the Fashion Institute of Technology recently.
P.S. TO THOSE WHO PRESUME TO COMMENT ON MY FINGERNAILS BEING TOO LONG--DON'T. I use my nails when sewing. So stop it please.

Preparing pattern for fitting class
zhlédnutí 1,7KPřed 7 měsíci
This is how I like to prepare a pattern for making a muslin and fitting. White kraft paper or banner paper got from the office supply, copying only stitching lines and other details (NOT SEAM ALLOWANCES!). Other people do it other ways, but in fitting classes I teach, this is how I like it done. It's far easier for me to see alterations that go to stitching lines, as well as making sure seam le...

The Nervous Nellie Guide to Sewing Chiffon! Three classes; This is a zoom class, recorded so the students can refer to it later! I recently made a mother-of-the-groom outfit that required me to sew with chiffon. As chiffon strikes terror in my heart, I needed to devise some techniques that would make it a little easier for me to sew. In this class, we start with a pattern, included with the pri...

Bonjour! Je ne comprends pas l'anglais mais vos gestes sont très explicites et le résultat est magnifique !! Ça fait du bien de voir de belles matières et surtout de belles finitions !!!! Alors, thank you very much for your tutorial and your video..... 🙏👍👏👏👏❤️
Thank you for showing this method. It is the best hand rolled hem😊
I appreciate your teaching so much. I love this kind of fine meticulous work…I wish I could just work for, or with, you! 😊
Wow that was a good trick
best tutorial i have seen , your tone is so relaxing . now i don’t have to avoid delicate fabric and will finally hem my sons chef cloth
A new lesson learned after decades of sewing. Thank you!
Wow, that's a beautiful hem. And there's no worries of fraying after that final cut?
Not really. If you are concerned, use some fray check on it.
I just subscribed thanks for showing this couture technique can you do a video w Showing how to do the stays.
this is very educational..thank you for sharing this!
Great tutorial. Will use this in applique projects. Outline or maybe stems with colors. Tanx
You my friend are God send 🙏🏾
Hiii .. can you show me the stips of drawing my own measurements on paper ??
You can order my PDF book on the topic, from my web site: kennethdking.com/books
WOW your very talented, that’s intense work 👀
I wish you’d have cut those dirty nails. It was very off putting.
Oh such a beautiful finish! I tried to put a little rolled hem on a scarf, but it came out larger than I wanted…I will try this! Thank you for sharing this fabulous technique!!!
Or you just can't role the edge and stitch it with zigzag stitches Esey faster and even cleaner finish
You can do it that way. But what I was illustrating here is how Chanel did it on this dress.
👏🏻🧵
Excellent video! Thanks so much!
Just shortened an organza skirt following your method. It was easier than I anticipated to sew over the cord thread. Thanks so much!
So was there any fraying after you cut?
@@celesteevans2850 there was not. I cut just at the seamline. It came out very well.
Wow,sehr schön 🥰 Ich habe noch gelernt den Saum von sehr dünnen Stoffen mit der Hand zu rollieren
Very difficult to execute and you did a perfect job! You are amazing! Thank you for posting!
Thank you! You have given me the confidence to finish several veils!
Thank you!!
Excellent, that you for the analysis and demo. 3 thread rolled hem achieves a similar result.
True, but not as narrow or flexible. Also, that finish can be more ready to wear than couture.
Thank you very much for sharing this clean and perfect work.❤
Thank you🎉
excellent tutorial, thank you.
Thank you for this tutorial, it brings me a new idea of sewing the seams.
That IS a good idea. The seam might be a little fragile, but for seams that won't receive too much stress, it would be a nice way to sew them as neatly as possible.
I loved this video. You got to the point, showed us exactly what to do and how to do it. This is the way I like to learn. Many CZcams videos are all talk and stray from the meat of the subject.
Thanks--that's my aim in these videos. Just the information with minimal blah-blah.
I was just pointed to this tutorial thanks to a mention by the American Sewing Guild. It's fantastic, thank you!!! Question: when using this on chiffon, do you recommend putting tissue between the feed dogs and the fabric? I worry about possibly pushing the fabric down into the bobbin case.
Yes--but use a shorter stitch so the tissue will be easier to tear away.
Neat and lovely.
Brilliant instructions thankyou
Beautiful!
Чудова робота! Дякую вам.❤❤❤
Love you Kenneth King ❤
Thanks! There are a number of the other podcasts-99 in all-I hope you enjoy them all.
I only wish this video had been available last year when I started on my daughter’s wedding dress. Thank you for showing me something new.☮️
Question, does this only work on the grain? Or can you use it on a curved edge? (Guess I’ll find out when I try it tomorrow)😮
You can use it on curved hems, yes.
@@kdknyc Thank you so much! I'm a Susan Khalje disciple, and I'm hoping to take one of your classes next year. Your videos and podcast are delightful. I love your stories. I have your new book and I'm looking forward to making clothes for my ratty little girl. Thank you for everything!

Gorgeous!!! Thank you so much! *Runs to sewing machine* ❤
Thank you for this detailed tutorial. Your tips for this type of hem are sure to make it a success.
I find the old sewing techniques priceless❤thank you a lot for this tutorial
That was an excellent tutorial, Kenneth, thank you.
Thank you so much for your generous tutorial Sir 🫡
My goodness this showed up on my utube suggestions. So very glad that I have seen your very impressive work. I am sure sometime soon I will be using this technique. Thank you!
Wow!!!! Very very helpful. thank you so much❤
Wow, that’s a beautiful fine finish, I’m inspired to try this. I’ve done overlocker rolled hems on organza in the past but your method is far superior
Brilliant video....have you tried the zig zag trick with silk? Thank you for making this hem so easy.
Yes--this is on silk.
Gracias por revelar el secreto de cómo hacer este trabajo. Es el mejor tutorial q he visto❤❤❤❤
This is so different from other videos I have seen on hand stitched rolled hem. It is far neater, seems faster, and is very logical! Knowledge and experience are nothing if they is not shared. Thank you for passing Ms Khalje's knowledge and experience along to us. You are a conduit! .^_^.
I want to try it on!
