    Of course you cut out the hardest part at 2:19 so people still have no idea how to do that properly

    Bosh is crap.I had one and after the guarantee expired after 2 years the seal spring came off.Unlike this one the front is glued to it.I guess to make you buy a new one .Stay away from Bosh.Its not made in Germany anymore and just dead cheap crap

    I ended up using a large vise-grip to hold the top of the inside spring in place while I rolled it in the groove with my thumb, that worked like a charm. It still took me quite a bit longer than 3:15, though.

    What a pointless video. You didn't show us anything. You just showed how most of it is easy if you've been doing it 30 years. Then you even cut out the hard part. Stick to fixing washing machines pal, don't bother making anymore "how to" videos

    Video cuts out the hardest, and most important step. This video was much easier, took no time at all and avoided any stressful guess work or fiddly spring wrestling. czcams.com/video/irQ_XRgExoQ/video.html Just take the front off. It only takes 10 minutes, and involves no struggling or straining.

    I just replaced the electric door lock on my Bosch front loading washer and I CANNOT get the ring with the spring back on to secure the gasket! I'm a 'not so strong' person and I simply cannot stretch the spring enough. Can you offer some advice? Thanks.

    DO NOT USE THIS VIDEO AS A GUIDE. The information is wrong, parts of the process missing and some parts simply wrong like putting 3 rings back when there are only 2. I wasted a great deal of time working out why it was not going in as required.

    Nice trick with video, cutting the part when putting inner!! It’s not so easy to do it with one person. I’ve done this with my wife and son - I hold it between 10-2 o’clock, wife 2-6 , son 6-10 - took us 1 min to do this- outside 10min.

  • @nickjeffries3465
    @nickjeffries3465 Před rokem

    Yes this is tricky but - check to see if your front panel comes off first!! I spent too long trying to reach in the panel and fiddle around before checking to see if the panel would come off. My model had two further screws under the machine. Front panel came off. Easy to then put the seal onto the drum. The spring was straight forward to put into place with another pair of hands.

  • @billinski42
    @billinski42 Před rokem

    It's much better to spend a bit more time to guarantee fitting by removing top panel, then the instrumentation panel and finally the front panel (takes approx 15 mins). Then you have full access and can see exactly where the inner seal fits and be sure of fitting the inner band. Otherwise you're working in the dark on a wing and a prayer.

  • @yakovssan
    @yakovssan Před rokem

    If you don't have anyone to help, I recommend to use two clamps. You start from the bottom, then put first clamp around 9 o'clock then second clamp od 3 o'clock. With a little bit effort you will manage to put inner band on it's place.

    As with other comments the inner spring which was not shown is the pain. I used two pieces of string tied to either end of the spring then spring over the groove as far as it will go. Trail the string under the washer and tighten progressively as you tie off the strings with a clamp under the washing machine. Worked eventually. A lot of faff.

    Replacing the inner spring band is tricky and cut out of this video. In the video he says it's impossible to remove the front, but in my Bosch Series 2 machine it was possible, just a bit more work: remove the top (2 screws), computer panel (3 screws) and then the front panel (2 top screws and 2 under the machine). This made the replacement a lot easier.

    Just replaced a door seal in my Bosch washing machine which does not have a removable front. All fairly straight forward until you try and get the inner spring band on, You definately need to push the outer part of the seal inside the drum as shown on the video so don't connect the small pipe at the top of the seal until you have this inner band installed. You will the need 3 screwdrivers to stop the spring clamp from popping off the drum. An extra pair of hands / clamp can secure one end of the seal with a screwdriver while your two hands move the other end of the seal round the drum with another screwdriver, pushing it into the slot as you pull the seal round. Then there is the final tricky bit when the spring clamp only has a small amount to go. The spare pair of hands/ clamps now hold both the screwdrivers securing the spring clamp while you use the last screwdriver to lever it over the final bit of the seal and into the groove. Finger touch check all round to make sure all is in place and you can refit the small pipe at the top. Then do the rest.

      Hi Graham - found your comment extra useful as I've just ordered a new gasket with the small pipe hole which the one in this video does not have so I suddenly got cold feet. Bosch refusing to send me a technical date sheet to show how to get the front panel off so I'm forced to go in from the front. Very glad to hear you managed it with the small pipe model. I'm going to give it a go but am really nervous about getting that inner spring on! Thanks for the tip...I assume it's easy-ish to reconnect the pipe at the end?

    Putting on inner spring could work better, if Bosch made the front side removable. This way it is almost impossible.

    Don't be fooled by this wizards short video ! If you can't remove the front panel that inner spring is a complete bastard. I've just finished replacing the seal on my Bosh series 4. Got the top off, control panel off and the door off but didn't want to force the front panel off so had to fit the seal with it still in place. The Mrs was at work, 2 arguing kids in the living room and 2.5 hrs later I vow never to do it again. Wayne the wizards 30years experience shows. Trying to get your fingers to hold the tension on that rear spring whilst keeping everything in place was the hardest part. Had to tip the machine back at 45 ° to give me more room and a better view. All the rest was fairly straight forward. Never again.

    I can’t take my front penal off because of a stripped screw under the soap dispenser. How do I pull the inner spring off? He didn’t say much. Folding the rubber in and put it down??

    Fortunately I understand how to do this job, but I've never seen a less helpful tutorial that seems more about showing off that the demonstrator has the knack, rather than actually explaining anything useful. Nice for the show-off, unhelpful for the viewer. This one is a lot more helpful czcams.com/video/ioTOGkIBEIw/video.html

    At czcams.com/video/etL8qRGQHsY/video.html notice how the spring is located in his hands; the top of the spring runs over the back of the thumbs, and over the index fingers (and on the inside of the other fingers, can't quite remember). Starting from the 6 o'clock position as in the video, use 2nd 3rd 4th fingers to put the spring in the groove, and feed the remaining spring over the bent index fingers. Use the thumbs and arm power to pull the spring up. I used the other tricks as well; wedge the concrete drum from the front panel using whatever you have available (I used polystyrene), lube your hands with loads of soap, liquid soap or vet lube, and crimp the spring together at the top before starting (although I guess with practice this needn't be done). Once the hand position was correct, it was a 20 second job, and didn't need to take the front panel off.
