How Did We Miss This?! Our Tarnished is More Than They Seem. Elden Ring Lore Theory No DLC Spoilers
(No DLC Spoilers!)
Like with a lot of their games, FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki don’t really give us much explicit backstory about our main character, the tarnished, in Elden Ring. However, according to this theory from a Japanese Lore CZcamsr, there is a lot more to our character than meets the eye...and the evidence is right in the games opening cinematic.
Join me as we examine some interesting clues and uncover our main characters true origins. Are we a simple tarnished or are we Marika’s Child and a demigod in our own right? Is Godwyn Marika’s unwanted child? Who lies sleeping in the wandering mausoleums?
Listen to the evidence yourself and let me know what you think in the comments!
The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is almost upon us! I hope this video and lore theory will help you kill some time while you wait :)

The REAL reason Radahn Stopped the Stars - Elden Ring Lore Theory & Speculation
zhlédnutí 203KPřed měsícem
In an interview with Famitsu, Dark Souls and Elden Ring Director Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that Radahn must be defeated in order to access the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. It seems safe to speculate that this must be because of Radahn's conquery of the stars that left fate itself held in stasis. However, did you ever stop to think about why Radahn did this? Did he really just want to stop Ranni...

My theory is that Radagon is our father, and like Miquella and Malenia being cursed, we were cursed to be tarnished. And Marika cast us out of the lands between. I know of the big problems with my theory that it doesn't explain how you can be some of the classes you can choose

  • @FaeChangeling
    @FaeChangeling Před hodinou

I feel like the theory is cool but doesn't really add up. The noises are vaguely similar, but not exactly the same and could be generic background ambience. We're specifically born "of no renown", and while you could handwave that away as being illegitimate, simply being a demigod by nature is of at least a little renown. We don't have any god-like powers until after Melina allows us to gain strength through runes, something that we're told the finger maidens did for basically all tarnished before both Mohg and Godrick's followers went out their way to kill them. There's countless tarnished on the path to beating the elden beast, and Vyke even made it as far as the forge of giants, all given the same instruction to seek the great runes, as we're told by Enia and Gideon. Additionally, the very nature of the tarnished is that they're all followers of Godfrey who were banished alongside him, with the plan for them to one day return. As such, we know we're not in the lands between based both on the banishment and the line "cross the fog to the lands between". Marika clearly knew something would happen and set up the tarnished and Godfrey's return as a contingency, but I think the Greater Will also planned it as many tarnished are restored with the guidance of grace (though some lose it after they're deemed unworthy). The elden ring is shattered, Marika is in bad shape, the current era is stagnated, and Radagon clearly isn't doing his job as consort anymore, so a new Elden Lord is required to fix the ring and become her new consort, and thousands of tarnished are called to do so. We follow the story of the one who was successful, not because we're special but because we were the one who eventually succeeded. The reason we can kill a god is because it was intended to be killed. It's effectively like Jesus; God (the greater will) sent down his son (an avatar in the form of the Elden Beast) to enact his will and spread his word, choosing a woman to bear the burden of childbirth (Marika is essentially a part of the rebirth cycle), and Jesus is eventually sacrificed for the sake of the world (the Elden Beast is defeated so the ring can be repaired and you can become the new elden lord). As I say, countless tarnished were *supposed* to kill the elden beast, but never got that far.

  • @ignisspiritustenebris7137

My only grievances with this theory is that it's never stated that Demigods need maidens to grow more powerful. They just naturally seem to be so because of their godhood. Also, there's no evidence of Marika getting with anyone other than radagon or godfrey.

I'd say it's a little of both. Stopping the stars as impressive as it is, Is only a temporary solution. A solution that has a timer since there was no guarantee he'd never die and undo his efforts. The best way to deal with a threat is by simply eliminating it. Something I suspect Radahnn would have done but on his own terms one by one

The only flaw in the theory is that he haults the movement of the stars. If that were the case that he was trying to pull the stars in to smash them, then why are they frozen in place? Almost all of the starfell beasts land after the stars are unfrozen. It would be the equivalent of trying to fish in a pond that is frozen solid.

Annnnnnddddd....he was bewitched by Miquella all along. He literally sent Melania to kill him so he could infuse his soul into Mogh's body to become his consort. And Ranni was the only one who could throw a wrench in Miquella's plan. So in the end, Ranni is the only demi-god that isnt an evil self serving maniac. The DLC only solidified her ending even more as the good ending. Ranni just pushes the reset button on this messed up world and takes us into a new era. In the end, Radahn was just a puppet and Miquella his puppetmaster.

This theory doesnt make any sense to me. First of all let's start with the obvious. If Radahn wanted to challenge Astel, he would have not stopped the stars. This is completely the opposite of what he would have done. If his purpose was to challenge Astel, he would have used his gravitational magic to pull the stars towards him and not stop them. This alone puts an end to this theory. We know that Radahn studied gravitational magic in the town of Sellia. Sellians are descendants of the people from Eternal cities and even below Sellia, lies the eternal city of Nokron. The Nox were people who were banished a long time ago by the Greater Will, for creating the Finger Slayer Blade, a blade that puts a end to the control by the Greater Will. The Nox then created the Eternal cities. Banished by the Greater Will and living under a false night sky in the underground, they await the age of the stars, which actually has the same name as Ranni's ending. We also know about a metorite that struck the Lands Between a long time ago. This meteorite was summoned, through sorcery from the Nox who lived in the Nameless Eternal city. I think they wanted to cause the coming of the age of stars, but instead of their God, they summoned Astel. Among the beings that have risen to life from the meteor strike were the Alabaster and the Onyx. Im not sure if Astel was the meteorite itself or was created after the crash, but for sure destroyed the Nameless Eternal city. What i think is that since the Sellians are descendands of Nox, they know what danger lies if another star hits the Land Between, either naturally or from Nox sorcery in the Eternal cities. This still remains the main reason why Radahn has stopped the stars imo. Furthermore there is another Astel that is trapped in the Yelough Anix tunnel and is kept contained by the Onyx and Alabaster in the area.

I absolutely knew something was off. There's so many texts and implications that only demi God's could do X things. Some how we as the tarnished (some random guy with no name to speak of) just waltz on in and make ourselves at home like nothing. (Ok maybe after a lot of deaths). Just always seemed strange. It also implies the tarnished before us were also merika's unwanted children. I was always wondering where she was getting these random people who were not blessed with grace. This makes so much sense in my opinion. Once again the translators screwed the pooch. <_<

You could theorize that our walking mausoleum is the church we wake up in. When you look at a mausoleum both outside and inside it does look kind of like a small church in a way. Who’s to say eventually someone caused ours to finally stop walking and changed the inside a bit to be more like a church with a fallen demigod as the center piece. The outside also looks like it had been expanded on from its base structure. That is why we wake up in the church as it was once like the other mausoleums but over the hundreds of years we have been resting it had changed and thus unrecognizable to the others.

What if that is why we can take the other demigods powers, could it be because they never got to a certain point of power that Marika revives us to use them as sacrifices to get to the highest possible power she wanted them to get to😮, also the church we spawn in at is really safe except for the scion, what if after we are revived we are teleported to the church as a safe place but because it has been so long it is not a safe place anymore

Yeah this makes a lot of sense after knowing the Japanese translation and the history of Japanese warriors; where you, as master of your school of fighting, would go to other masters to challenge their schools. So these falling-star beasts that become astels(ant lion metamorphosis) are a scourge upon what Radahn would see as “his territory,” and thus would want to prove his merit as a warrior protecting his own land from the uninvited guests from the stars. This leads me to believe also, that the alabaster and onyx lords may very well be from the same cosmic region as the astels and are willing to help him in his endeavors because “back home” they are also at odds with the astels. Otherwise what would be the motive of their helping radahn(and in the case of alabaster, helping the Carian side of it all as well)? The astrologer class(being tied to sorcery) being about studying the stars/cosmos to learn their side of glintstone/alabaster gravity magic. This would mean that alabaster wants to teach their school of thought to the Carians/astrologers, where the onyx found radahn and his as their champions of choice, but united(it would seem) in the greater fight against their adversaries(falling star/astels) who also came to the lands between. Perchance. 😂
