whereareyouwhoami
three weeks in France to capture light
then next year in Nepal
now your memories are
framed and up on my wall
at Thai Sook Dee we split the fare
we laughed ’til we hurt
all the rules that we’d make
just in order to break
a crowded room, one quick embrace
a wave and a grin
a telephone call
a balloon and a pin
early light on the stairway
that’s where I see your shoes
yes I see your shoes
and the blanketed grass
the table and chairs are wet
clouds are not up yet
seated here
in a still life
a life still
where are
you who
am I
seated here
in a still life
a life still
where are
you who
am I
I think of you as you walk the seam
aware of me, unaware
is it lit like a dream?
is it beautiful there?
is it beautiful there?

By any chance is this the Bob Long who played around Hollywood CA in the early to mid 1970s. I remember a really good piano player by the name Bob Long.

Have always loved Dee Alexander's sultry soulful free flow yet grounded in tradition, and her style is noteworthy.
I keep on coming again and again ❤❤ such a soulful play
Steve, this is a beautiful work of art. I actually listened to it 3 times, which is a 'musicians compliment' :-)
Thanks Bill! 😁
Oh my God, this is so beautiful. Thank you so much for an example of true fine arts in animation form...so rare and stunning. my favorite transition was the first-person perspective of the hands as they flip and touch the piano. what a truly wonderful and memorable video🫶
awesome Steve AWESOME!!
Such a beautiful piece.
That is one beautiful piece of art (music, words, and visuals). It doesn't get better than that. You are a very special one dear Steve.
You are such an inspiration to me. Thanks so much, Corky.
Very cool
Steve, this is so eloquent. Bravo, pal. Best of the holidays to you and Bea.
Thanks Ron! Wishing you the best as well.
❤❤❤❤❤
Those are two of the big questions when one loses someone dearly loved: Where are you? and Who am I now? And then of course: Is it beautiful there? And: Will I ever see you again? I lost my dear wife on 3/6/15, and I am still asking those Qs. I will ask them all the rest of my days. Thank you for this touching music, and for the Qs, and for the extraordinary video. I haven't seen you in a long time. I take it you are still on Hartzell, around the corner from me. It would be lovely to see you again. God bless you. Mel
Thanks Mel. I so appreciate your thoughtful message. Wishing you peace. - Steve
Thank you for sharing this. I, of course, remember a much earlier piece you wrote about a much happier event in your family. Suzanne and I are so sorry for your loss. In listening to your piece I felt your grief as well as your memories. As we get older, holidays are filled with new joy, but also melancholy, all conveyed by your song. Suzanne and I wish you and Béa and all your family a wonderful Christmas…may the good memories be the music.
Thanks Mike. I know the piece you are referring to, and the baby girl for whom it was written now has a son about to go to college! Yikes!! All the best to you and Suzanne!
Yes, simply stunning! Aware of me, unaware...
BOBNJUDY LOVED IT!...WISH YOU EXCESSIVE 'WELL'...
wonderful!
Stunning. I am transported. Thank you.
She sang the verse, reminds me more of Sarah than Billie . But a beautiful rendition

Bob - I don’t know if you would even remember who I was… Met you on a cruise through the Panama Canal at least 15 years ago… I only found a card of yours just now- I’m trying to stop by and say hello :-) and listen to your music! Hello
Seems I've heard most if not all at Bix. Sound is great! NH
Sounds Great!
Those who were there will never forget it, because they've never seen a collaboration so incomparable! Beyond narration, beyond musical improvisation: Tom and Larry conducted us to a higher plane of holiday spirit. Both are artists; together, that night, they transcended, and lifted us along.
Ron was my first ever private Sax teacher and didn't appreciate how amazing he was until years after he had taught me to be the musician I am. Ron is a Chicago Legend in my eyes...Does Anyone know if he still is out playing?
Excellent! Shame this music isn't promoted and given more air time.
Not to split hairs but, this arrangement is by Matthew Kulbacki , as copied from the original Coon-Sanders recording
❤
One of the few male singer's I like living today.
