    You don't understand the concept of security. The correct answer is always both it's never either or. Access control can take many forms. An armed door guard to detour criminal behavior or a lock, with keys, only authorized personel have. You could add a camera with a person who has sight recognition of authorized key holders. Security should be a multy layered approach never either or!

    You don't understand the concept of security. the correct answer is both. Fixed post for access control. Then roving patrol everything else.

  • @user-bl4hb1bq9t
    @user-bl4hb1bq9t Před 24 dny

    You don't understand the concept of security to begin with. Cameras are a force multiplier. You don't have enough armed guard to be everywhere. So in real time you moniter the camera & if you see something that needs to be investigated you send in your armed guards. Cameras were never intended to be a set & forget. But they're incorrectly used all the time. The correct answer is both cameras & armed guard, not either or!

      @SimonOsamoh Před 24 dny

      I don’t know many churches that monitor their cameras full time or have armed guards on hand. Just an observation.

    16:35, brother, this is what I take from your question: this is the reality of the world we live in now; things we thought could never happen (especially in a house of worship), can happen! As we draw nearer to end of the world, evil will proliferate; 2 Timothy 3:13 attests to that. The church can get better, but the outside world will not!

  • @McIntyreBible
    @McIntyreBible Před 2 měsíci

    Watching the brother who jumped over the railing to tackle the gunman, I'm reminded of Jack Ruby who shot Oswald in 1963: Ruby was tackled by police security, yet he was still squeezing on the trigger, until they got the gun from him. Fortunately in this incident, they got the gun away from the gunman before he was able to fire off shots!

  • @McIntyreBible
    @McIntyreBible Před 2 měsíci

    Your question (5:18) I would answer like this: pastors, ministers, priests are men whose focus is on the accuracy of their messages, not so much on the people within the service. They have to be!

  • @McIntyreBible
    @McIntyreBible Před 2 měsíci

    This story should remind all of us who confess Christ, that, this is the reality of the world today: even a pastor is vulnerable to crazed gunmen!

    I posted this on my LinkedIn page and talked about the importance of training for congregations. Conducting an assessment is great but does no good if the congregation doesn’t know if they should be in a flight or fight status.

    • @churchsecuritytraining
      @churchsecuritytraining Před 2 měsíci

      Hi Stacy, although many houses of worship have no idea where to start even on training and could be seduced on active shooter tactics training. That’s why I like a risk assessment first for them first as if done well it tells them what training they need so they don’t waste resources on purchasing training that isn’t a good fit for them.

  • @edburdo
    @edburdo Před 2 měsíci

    Thank you for addressing the training issue. I've seen some other church security discussions around this, and they gloss over the training pieces. As far as the guy who tackled goes... congratulations for taking action. But I think it pretty clearly shows he doesn't have a lot of training in how to control and subdue someone, especially an active shooter.

    • @churchsecuritytraining
      @churchsecuritytraining Před 2 měsíci

      Yes there was a case in Pennsylvania close to 10 years ago. The man’s name was Gregory Eldred, he shot his ex wife while she played the organ. People held him until the police arrived but before they did he got up and shot her again. He was under control but also never really under control. He should not have been able to get up a second time, or still have the gun! Thanks for sharing Ed.

  • @Ghkugbdghbmkgvbnh
    @Ghkugbdghbmkgvbnh Před 3 měsíci

    In the spirit of having respectful conversations, it might help to use the term "transgender person" rather than "the transgender." I trust that you're coming at the issue in good faith, but there are a lot of bad faith actors who use dehumanizing tenses in a passive aggressive way to signal that they do not accept transgender people (in the same way an anti-semite might say "a jew" instead of "a Jewish person"). Additionally, it's considered respectful practice to refer to a trans individual using the pronouns they prefer. You repeatedly refer to the person in this scenario as a woman who identifies as a man. This person would likely rather be referred to as a man, or in the context of a conversation about gender, a trans man. I understand wanting to be clear in the discussion of the question, but in that case, you could consider using the terms "a trans man" or " assigned female at birth (afab)." Additionally, it is important not to conflate gender dysphoria (a mental illness characterized by distress relating to one's gender) with being trans. Many transgender people do not experience clinically significant dysphoria, and the mental health community does not recognize being trans as a mental disorder any more than they would consider believing in God to be a delusional disorder (which would be an ignorant thing to suggest), even if some individuals do experience religious-themed symptoms in the context of an established disorder (e.g., scrupulosity in an individual with OCD symptoms). As I said, I appreciate that you're coming at this from a good faith position, and I hope you take my comment in that spirit as well. One suggestion you might consider is to give church members options for contacting officials, perhaps anonymously, with requests or suggestions on how to make your policies more inclusive/safe for them. Part of respectful engagement is seeking out and listening to trans people when forming policies that will affect them.

    To me, this question is much easier to answer than others. People. They can do all of the "things", and can be cross-trained to do multiples. With tech, you don't get true decision making... or the "personal" aspect. Tech isn't going to de-escalate the situation. All it can do is alert you to one.

  • @churchsecuritytraining

    In most cases, I would go plain clothes. Less conspicuous. If I have some sort of big public event (where we push and advertise to the general public) then a Uniform is nice. But if I can only have one... and no changing... then plain clothes.

    If all things are equal... I'd prefer roaming. However, if it's a difference of numbers, I'd go with which ever has the bigger numbers. If I was doing roaming, I'd want them mostly scheduled... so they'd roam, but certain points would always be covered. Ultimately, I'd want mixed. :)

    • @churchsecuritytraining

    Access control without a doubt. Denying access to an active shooter could save lives. Cameras would only be helpful to record an event, of if you have someone to monitor the cameras, they could alert your safety team, but this is reactionary.
