This brings me back to the covid non-school/school service days in 2020, my bus route has 6/7 buses on it and it's every 20 mins. Only 1 of those 6/7 buses was a school service bus and I'd have to wait 2 hours for it. Most drivers were decent and let people on but there were quite a few which didn’t, technically they were doing the right thing in the rulebook but when you see an empty bus at school hours and get refused in the rain and you know you could be waiting there for up to 2 hours it was a complete shambles. I'm pleased I'm 19 and don't have to put up with before/after school times anymore😂
Those days was quite hard refusing people
@@thatbusdriverguy4182 I cam imagine, especially in busy areas like Catford or Lewisham
Some bus companies would be jumping up and down citing health and safety you walking around the depot with a camera filming. A well known bus company I used to work for would sack you . Take care.
Thanks
It's always been the case that there are a minority of drivers who want other drivers to do all the work, it used to happen even more in crew (driver/conductor} days. My experience of this goes back nearly seventy years, and in my youth often involved Catford buses on the 160 and 124, as I lived in Eltham and attended St Dunstan's College. One particular crew took this to the limit and made us late for school on numerous occasions. A schoolfriend's father was a bus inspector based at Well Hall Station. Eltham bus station and arranged for the newly-introduced Ford Anglia mobile control vehicle to park at Eltham Green one morning and catch the crew of TL9, running 8 minutes early. pushing the one minute late TL8 on the 160. I never saw that crew again, either together or individually, and even in those highly Unionised days suspect they were sacked as they were probably despised by other crews.
Thanks for sharing that
Someone people dont even put their hands up to siganl the buses to stop, they expect the bus to stop at the bus stop, in other words, they judge the bus drivers.
When I was a bus driver from 1973 for 42 years we used to have requests ✋ stops and Compulsory stops so was training my instructor use to say when you come to a compulsory you should stop and let people off and then let people on request tops unless the ball rings to stop or if someone puts their hand out at the bus stop you should stop but for me I didn’t like to go in and see the garage manager for anything when I see anybody at the request stops or a Compass. I always stop whether they’re getting off or not. I just stop open the doors if they’re getting on the get on if they’re not getting on the close the doors and I go and you’re safe or that way so that’s what I used to do but these new drivers I don’t think they they think of that really they just wanna keep going like as if they’re in a car they’re not doing a job you’re getting paid if you’re late you get paid overtime, so what’s the point of Russian? Take your time as they instructed you to do the job safely incorrectly and you have no problems at all. That was my experience for 40 odd years thank you
You exactly right I literally seen bus trying to catch up lead bus, I have seen so much crazy stuff. A lot of drivers not doing to it to serve sorry to say.
being a bus driver myself i find passengers are lazy and just expect the bus to stop passengers should always signal for a bus to stop able or none able they used to so really if a bus does,nt stop the driver should not be at fault i'd like to add i don,t like leaving people behind but sometimes that way they might learn to signal
Not sure where you drive but TFL requires us to stop, and believe it or not there are many disabilities out there, The Red and white stop in London are now to be treated a main stop or white stops.. Even before this rule we were suppose to stop at white stops and if a passenger has that info in there head they not gonna but hands up. Most passengers do signal now cos they know some driver not gonna stop . The main issue for me bro is when I have seen bus drivers assume the passenger is gonna get on the bus in front. Plus remember I it happened to me when I had my hands out, the bus driver literally ignore me. So I have seen it from both sides. I just think some of us will alway blame passengers but we have to put up our hand sometime . Please take note how I started the video. The bus driver left the old lady cos he didn’t even pull into stop , he just assumed the woman was gonna get my bus that was in front. This is when bus drivers mainly do it. I take note of it cos it’s bad. I have picked up people left behind and I catch with bus that they have missed..I disagree with about not being our fault, if we stop how can we go wrong. You know as well as me the some of our fellow workers love to have an empty bus, we just have to be real I heard it all lol.
The only instance(s) where bus drivers continue without stopping to pick me up is when the bus is packed and full to the very brim.
Ok that’s good, you not experienced empty. Us pass you
Both the passenger and driver have a responsibility. Passengers actually need to pay attention to their surroundings as the time gets closer to their bus arriving and stop looking on their phones. Too many times I have seen passengers glued to their phones like it was the end of the world. Drivers need to at least slow down as they approach a bus stop and look to see if the passenger is going to board. If both parties behave according to the way they are supposed to, I think that would make everything a lot smoother and less of a headache!
I stop all the time now, but I have seen buses not even checking wether a passenger is there cos the view could be covered by a bus already there. Thats when it not passenger at fault.. Saw 2 buses back to back leaving tourist behind, the bus behind seem like we was chasing the other bus. That the worse I have seen. But yeah some passenger not aware.
Been using the bus service more because of my hospital appointments and parking being expensive, I prefer it now
Thanks 4 The News ! ( Stay Safe ) ! Ex TFL 😊
I've seen other drivers from the same group that owns your company uploading videos even POVs , strange scenario hopefully gets resolved if not though plenty of other good stuff to film
What a mess! Typical UK "muddle through". Sorry for the driver, first time, no help, "sink or swim" --with passengers?!

Hi can I join as a driver in london
Yes as long as you have license,, you will have to apply
same as down here
Where do you live?
Silly question - I moved out of London when I was 14 when you had to ask the driver for your fare and pay for it. Am I right to say all you need to do now is get on, tap your card and enjoy the ride? Obviously be kind and say hi to the driver :)
Yes that’s all you need to do.
Thanks i Have a LT PASS !😊
Hello 👋
Hello 👋
I drive the 17 I’ve seen double decker anton a few times still looking out for you on London Bridge 🤙
so, when you gonna mention this bus is made from?
Route learning in my days we to sit upstairs to learn the route
We still do that, but the new driver learns first route with mentor.
I’m a retired Bus Driver my Garage was Harrow Weald this brings back memories back in the days big up 😢❤ Blessings
Hey! I know irs 5 months, the 199 has to be one of my favourite routes, and i live super close to the bus garage!
Do you work the same hours on a Sunday ?
Sunday duties alway different, usually longer .
tfl.gov.uk/fares/free-and-discounted-travel/rules-of-travel-for-under-18s I feel like a lot of the issue is not the fares, but the lack of tracking the travel of these under 18s including if they break these rules of travel. So I guess one could infer if they don't have their zip card it might be because it was cancelled.
Hey ik you ur the 621 driver
Yes
@@thatbusdriverguy4182 do you not drive that bus anymore
I wouldn't worry about getting into trouble with VOSA! They haven't existed for over 10 years now. Maybe you need to be in the office for correction and advice because you don't know what you're talking about. Also check in his only good for 2 hours after you've cooked it again you're not lack of knowledge in these basic areas is absolutely astounding.
You may know day is ever the same? No day is ever the same for anyone.
No I didn’t know that wow, thanks for the lesson
Keep it up. Your a fantastic driver!
I drive route 17 everytime I see a route 47 on London Bridge I’m hoping it’s you but not yet seen you😂
What sort of life would it be if we all got on the bus just to see the bus driver!
@@elixier33 He is a bus driver who is hoping to see me passing, anything wrong with that.
Idris Alba's brother
I thought i was the only one who saw the the resemblance lol
It’s DVSA now, VOSA was combined with the DSA years ago to form the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency
Thanks I should have know the mention it in CPC training but I forgot about it..
I met Hannah today! I remembered her from your videos, what a lovely driver I just had it approach. It was at the boss street bus stop towards London Bridge station
She was one of my star drivers when route learning with her. Plus she has a great attitude.
Gonna be ecstatic if I see your my driver on the bus, keep up your content I'm loving it
Nice video
Are the route number and destination signs digital or the old style printed text on mylar paper?
Old style
Great video!!
Its good to see u back doing videos on the job again, I thought u said u cant film videos related with Stagecoach?
Well to be honest still waiting on them, so I decided to take a chance they were a couple things they didn’t like I have avoided that on these videos so they can’t say much. The channel has brought in new drivers so it a good things. I will keep you guys posted. But for now I’m back unofficially lol..
@@thatbusdriverguy4182 where’s your proper uniform?
@@matthewdoyle3877 Depends what part of video you talking about in my house I’m where my clothes but all the video before that I’m wearing the latest uniform from Stagecoach. Great stuff again 👍 do you think you could do a video covering the MDT display, explaining what it shows etc? Apologies if you’ve already done it. Keep up the great content
Yeah I done bits of it, but will do one video on it..
Hi, my 12 yr old son Kayden meet you on you're 47 route this morning, he is Autistic and he loves the red buses, he thinks that your the best driver ever, thank you for taking some time to talk to him today, he was so happy😊we hope to see you again.
Im autistic too and I know how it feels to be in that position and it's really nice
Great video and good to see u filming on the job again!
It's nice to see you back making regular videos again👍 we need a break sometimes
Yes same day same route/same duty as always nice one in my depot where I have my placement some drivers stick to their same routes some sometimes are spare n drive any route which is good but depending on the allocations team who organise the timetable n depends whos available to work/cover the duties ad well. Unfortunately some drivers have to work holiday and weekend periods which can be tough but at least they get leave/holiday at somepoint depends on timetable/schedule. I defo want to be part of allocations, ibus controller and maybe in future I may consider doing agency bus driver which in where my placement is at Transport UK ex Abellio WL walworth depot they have more agency drivers 😉 meaning drivers aren't employed with abellio they r employed by another site same with rail replacement I think as well. All the love x nice drill beat on this video I'm defo invested in my drill at the moment I bet where u drive places like Bermondsey Peckham Greenwich Charlton Woolwich Lewisham Deptford New Cross there's plenty of Grime/Drill in active, but another 👍 video of as always life doing your fav routes n sticking w same duty as always/sometimes n you doing what you ❤️ best xxx 💯 👌 all the ❤️ my friend ❤️
controller couldn't see my location on Friday, I just put my foot down 🤣 only kidding
Also nice you making your lunch 😋 before work which some drivers do which saves money n saves time in case some drivers like yourself have no time for early AM break n have to start shift straight away nice one. And also doing school run 621 Leeisham to Eltham good one Eltham in Greenwich Council the best I love the buses up Greenwich same as my brother. Good thing is that your depot still have routes that go Eltham such as 124/160/660 which is 👍 124 long standing historic TL route still alive n doing well which is a good 👍 😉 good one good video my friend x always its tough on the roads but you always make me and others 😊 😃 all the ❤️ stay safe on the roads x ❤️ toy you and your TL colleagues as well ❤️ 😍
