My Brined Olives Are Ready
Eleven months later the olives are ready. Finally.
When you begin the brining process DO NOT SEAL THE JARS TIGHTLY!
Next time I will buy an olive pitter to remove the pit, this way the process will be much faster.

Whitewashing my fig trees

I don’t know if you’ve ever visited Greece, but they use hydrated lime to paint trunks of trees, walls, support columns, entrance ways, sidewalks and also rooms. It looks just beautiful, it’s clean and it keeps the critters away. Made my first batch with cherries from my cherry tree and it was delicious, thanks so much. We froze a bunch from the tree and might want to make a second batch. Would this work if we started now (august) and let them sit outside during cooler weather into October?

If you ignore the price and kept them pruned them to 1 trunk would there be any difference in fruit production or taste? Asking because they sell starter TC trees cheap like 4 for $25. That seems like a good value.

Do animals get tangled in the netting? I am considering covering my fig trees. I have not covered them in the past but this year the wild creatures are being mischievous. I may try aluminum pie pans though. 🤔

They are tiny and cute but they have big appetites. That happened to me! I found a chewed hole but too high up for the babies to exit. I ended up lifting a corner for the babies to escape and they were gone the next day.
