So nice sirrrr
@@gusadenarayana Thanks man!
I had to come back to have my son have a listen to your awesome sounding bass -Spector? He always puts up with me rambling about the tone and personality of different basses -just smiles and pats me on the back and says -OK dad lol( he’s soon to be 21, oh crap) Wow what a tone Sir! Great playing! Again lol Man I just really enjoy this, it is a song dear to me , Disney, really? Lol
@@geddy0109 The Spector not only sounds great, it plays great too!
That’s it! Fine job, great tone Sir. I wanted to learn this and watching other videos and listening -and I’m 62 and when I’m listening, I’m not hearing the right bassline- but this is absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for your help. Really appreciated! Made my day! Jim Chicago
@@geddy0109 Thanks Jim!
I so enjoy the sound of that Spector(?) Had to come back and have my son have a listen! Lol
Roscoes are d basses...i have the same bass with a koa top
Wow, that's great! Koa is my favorite wood.
Aw I wish you’d kept going with the sax. My son just started school band with an alto sax, and I hope he sticks with it and we can play together. The mini sounded fantastic!
That's great that your son is playing alto. You'll be playing Girl From Ipanema before you know it!
Very nice!
@@Baci302 Thank you!
Ive been torn between getting this NS Design, or a Spector Euro LX. The Spector seems to have nore attack, and the NS seems to have more body. What are your thoughts? Thanks for capturing a great liano like tone on this one
I agree with your assessment of the tone for both basses. It wouldn't be redundant to own both. I no longer own this bass. I remember it didn't have the usual dead spot on the G string between the 5th and 7th fret that most basses seem to have. The neck was quite full and round.
@@scictt thank you for replying. Any reason you let the NS go, or do you just like a constant rotation of different bases
@@michaelthorsen6208 I do tend to rotate basses. As mentioned, the neck shape was a little chunky and there was no active/passive switch for the preamp. Nothing major. It has a unique sound with the piezo pickup and is well built.
@@scictt alright. Thank you. It's a lot of money to dump on a bass. I've played one for one night at a show in Humboldt and it had the best playability and best sound I've ever experienced. But I had a number of drinks before going on stage so I just wanted to verify before buying one. Thank you so much for your responses. Keep up the great playing.
@@michaelthorsen6208Rock on!
Very nice :)
Thank you!
so few bass players set the mix up so I can the bass. I'll jam with ya. Got 1000 watts house power pa + in my living room. How do you feel about Bob Seger tunes? CCR?
On my videos I always turn the bass up so it doesn't get buried in the mix. It's actually a tad loud here, you can occasionally hear distortion.
Both are very nice, but I do give the Ken Smith the nod here. That B string is incredible.
They are both proof that a 34" scale B string can be great!
@scictt In my personal experience, the theory that a B string needs to be 35" to sound good is mythological. MY personal experience I add. My Warwicks and when I had Stingray 5s,they all disagree. B string goodness for days.
good shit young fella
Thanks!
Well done sir! ✌️🙂
Thank you sir!
Big sound from a small Bass. Nice! I like small guitars, too, and I purchased a GT during the shut-down of 2020. I enjoy that more than my other 2 guitars.
Thank you!
Gran interpretación. Gran guitarra.
Gracias!
Beautiful playing and beautiful guitar .
Thank you! That particular guitar is my favourite.
Great job! The electric timbre is very different and sounds nice.
Thanks man!
Great playing as always. Both basses sound good, I suspect the Smith is more versatile because of the pickup locations, but both sound fine in the mix.
Thanks Doc! I would say the Warwick excels at prog rock like Yes and Peter Gabriel while the Smith does well at smooth jazz. By the way, both basses have since been sold. A TBer now owns the Smith, the Warwick's whereabouts are unknown.
Donald Fagen.. a man of taste! :D Cool comparison!
Thank you!
My CZcams recommended has been blessed today, You are really killing it!!
Thanks man! I'm loving this bass!
nice play
Thank you!
Wow beautiful guitar!
The Suhrs are awesome!
Niiiice man
Thanks!
thumbs up
Thank you!
Very old school sound.... I love peavey basses... only USA and Korea made....
Great playing! The Sandberg and Spector sound almost alike to my ears. The MTD Super 4 has a more aggressive high end, almost like the Chris Squire Rickenbacker sound. DId you set both pickups on single coil?
Thanks! As noted in the description box the front pickup is set to single coil and the bridge pickup is set to series (this is one of my favourite combinations). Interesting, the Sandberg and Spector are very different sounding basses. Maybe it's the overdrive that is making them sound alike to you?
@@scictt Yes the overdrive made them sound similar.
I remember JL Ponty getting a head start playing with the Mothers of Invention... Same with George Duke.. Frank saw their talent.
I didn't know he played with Zappa until years later. Only killer musicians got the gig. Zappa said he couldn't pass the audition to get into his own band. :)
Amazing playing, amazing sound.
Thank you!
If only I could give it two thumbs up!
Wow, that sounds great!
Thanks!
just a quick question on that bass, are the fret lines metal or wood? Are they just frets that have had the tops cut off or are they little pieces of wood slivers inserted into the fret slots?
I'm not sure what they're made of. They aren't wood. I thought metal but they don't attract a magnet. Maybe some kind of plastic?
Excellent
Great tone, and great playing.
Thank you!
Beautiful, as always
Thank you!
This is the first time I have seen you perform on guitar. Well done!
Thanks Doc! I don't post guitar videos on Talkbass, I figure it would be frowned upon. 😀
Nice guitar! Interesting point/counterpoint style Police riffs! I'm also a fan of neck humbuckers on telecasters. Keep it up!!
Thanks! I saw this guitar on sale and had to have it due to the humbucker (which can also be run in single coil mode). I figured this would be a good guitar for a Police song since Andy Summer's Tele had a neck humbucker.
You seem to be really enjoying yourself Man. Keep up the good work ‼️ 👌🏿
Yes, I was hamming it up!
Great sound!
Thank you!
The Kingston Super4 and 5 basses sound fantastic!!!
They do!
Sir appreciated for your effort through this comparison. I listened both instruments few times. As i see, Smith sounds warm and full while thumb sounds growl and more mid present to my ears. I personally prefer thumb.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Well done, Peter.
Thank you!
A good song, like a memory of the Битлз
Diseases promote communication between people. Everyone wants to break the silence and speak out. Then he waits for your story. I don't know English, you don't speak it. In real life it turns out that our language of communication is music.!!!
Sounds great!
Thanks man! I forgot to mention that both pickups are set to parallel.
Nice!! I love Warmoth, I’ve used thier necks & bodies for electric guitars over the years and I’ve always been impressed. I’ve never done a Warmoth bass build though.. I’d like to do a 4 string Jazz lightweight Ash body, Burst finish routed for Nordy Big Single soapbars + East J-Retro Deluxe. With a 24 SS fret Qtr Sawn maple neck/Pao Ferro fretboard.. 😁
I say go for it! Right now I have a Squier Jazz with Lindy Fralin pickups and a Warmoth roasted maple neck with rosewood fretboard. Sounds fantastic!
Nicely played.
Thank you!
Beautiful playing!
Thanks!
Interesting right hand technique! Care to share why/how you started playing that way? I drew the short straw - I play the “traditional” way that I was taught and I’m always jealous of guys that have atypical right hand technique and crazy speed because of it. Bass is amazing btw and great job doing it justice. Those Aggies sure do sound nice.
Thanks! I think my right hand technique stems from taking classical guitar lessons where the thumb is used for plucking. I also find alternating with my index and ring finger gives me more speed.
@@scictt man, I’m jelly. Might have to practice this! Interesting start!
They sure are. I got one last week. Nice playing.
Thank you!
I really enjoyed this. Good job! A new twist on Peanuts. Nice guitar too.
Thanks man! Yes, the Suhr is a great guitar.
