Thank you for for the video Ben. I'm considering upgrading to an Atlas Transfer Case vice a Rubicon for my JT Sport when I go to one ton axles and 42s. Do you think the Atlas Transfer Case would require me modifying my MetalCloak skid plates? Does the Atlas hang down significantly lower than a stock Rubicon transfer case?
This is a great video!! I have the same set-up ready to install on my 2003 Jeep TJ Rubicon. I bought a made-to-order Jeep highlander hardtop thru Bulldawg Mfg. This Jeep hardtop, made for overlanding, is designed to support 600lbs dynamic/800lbss static weight with no metal reinforcements or exoskeleton required. I have the same quick-release mounts that will hold my Rhino rack to the dual channels built into the jeep hardtop. I also have the small (batwing) 270 awning that will be mounted on the left side just like yours. I will top it off with the iKamper 3.0 mini (yet to purchase) but I had all the same questions you had because I knew I would have to come up with a unique mounting solution to ensure the ikamper cleared the awning in the fully open position. I did buy a rhino rack platform that was two inches wider than the one normally made for the TJ to give me more surface area (and spacing) to attach both. I feel I will have to hang the awning out further and low and then offset the tent to the right side (remember TJ is more narrow than the JL) but that is ok since it will help balance out the weight on each side of the Jeep, even though it may look a little odd. Anyway--thanks for posting this because it always helps your viewers like me!!
So I'm about to 6.4 swap my tj I have a second hand atlas 4 speed but I'm trying to figure out is the zf8hp trans (8 speed) my best for in between...? In other words is that what your running on this?😅 thanks
I believe that is the transmission that is in my Jeep. My atlas is a 2 speed, so I’m not sure how that will work with the 4 speed
@benbastle thanks for the response 👍 I've found a few options and the 8hp70 might be the one I need
Hey how much clearance does the JT have?
He has a 6.5” lift with 40” tires, so he has a lot of clearance
Going up there this Saturday. Think I’ll skip the double headed dragon for now. Lmao
Ben, Im torn between building a hemi swapped gladiator or buying a preowned 392. I love the extra space in a Gladiator. Given you’ve experienced your brother’s Gladiator and your currently owned 392, have you ever thought about this ?
I guess it depends on what you’re doing with it. If you doing more overlanding / camping, the gladiator would work great! If you are doing more off road or don’t need the extra space, the 392 would be great! I don’t think you could go wrong either way. I love my 392 and I know my brother loves his gladiator. Having a hemi in it, that would be awesome!
@@benbastlethanks Ben, safe travels !
Looks good 👍
Thank you!
Gorgeous! Dana 60's Wow $$$ Dream Build right there brother. Mine is a work in progress. Only 38x13.50's with 5.13 Yukon gearing. Thinking bout doin Yukon Cromoly axle splines to reinforce. (Can't afford 60's). Thank you for explaining your brothers beautiful build.
Sounds like you a cool build! Half the fun is figuring out how you want to build it and then working through it. Thanks for watching!
Very cool. Thank you for taking me along! The Gladiator... 40's?
Thank you! Your welcome
i need both !🔥😩 seriously though i have a gladiator 1/10th scale rc with portal axles an im just itchin to get a real on next
You should, it’s a lot of fun!
Great walk around, thanks for the video
Thanks! Your welcome
Is this a diesel gladiator? Does he have any problems with overheating or has he done anything for extra cooling ?
It’s not a diesel. It’s a 3.6 and he hasn’t had any problems with overheating.
Thanks for the honest input. Everyone keeps telling me to go with the nittos on my 23 Gladiator, I went another route like you had mentioned you almost did when you first got your jeep for yhe same reason. Everyone runs them haha
Thanks! Sometimes you just have to try something different.
Nice trailer. How do you like the kitchen configuration on the Turtleback? I wished the stove was towards the end of the slider tray.
Thanks! I like the kitchen fine. It’s working good for me
I am on the fence of getting an atlas case for my 392 but wanted to know what happens to the dash 4x4 info on the left? Does that still work?
It does still work
No one ever shows the SWR reading? Its very high! Some of the readings depending on the type of antenna was up to 11.2 to 1... I had to strap a ground strap to the frame to get the SWR down to a reasonable match. Or find an antenna that does not require a ground plain? To much reflective wave back into the radio will destroy it. Just my take on the GMRS/HAM radio installs in jeeps.
Is that orange one a diesel?
No, it’s a 3.6
Stock axles?
No, Dynatrac 60s
Thank your for the video! Im putting the pioneer backbone on my JLU this week with the Ikamper 3.0 i just purchased and i have 1 concern... will the 3.0 brackets/clamps hit the top of the jeeps roof? I couldnt quite tell if it did on yours. Thanks
They don’t hit mine
Cool machine but why bob the bed (for the departure angle)? Seems like a waste. Rather get a Wrangler then.
The bed is not bobbed and he isn’t going to bob it. He doesn’t want to lose the room
Thanks for Sharing "Jeep Jeep Whop Whop"❤❤❤
For sure! Thanks
Sure
Ive got a 23zero. I put mine on my humvee trailer. It runs the same wherl and tire as my hunvees. Very convenient
That’s great if you can do that. That really wasn’t an option for me with the axle and tire combo I’m running
@@benbastle I wasn't nit picking. Your set up is awesome 👌
👍
The owyhees are nice because of how sandy it is. I wonder where the snowline is. Im in Parma ans i can usually see the line from my house. Its fun to go up and play on the snow drifts. Cant believe how mild the winter was
Not sure where the snow line is. I didn’t get up that high. It is definitely fun to get up and play in it.
Two headed dragon. I took a stock yamaha rhino up that in 2005. Snapped 2 cv axels, but got up. The water fall at the bottom was great. The really tricked out rigs stayed right at the Y.
Awesome! Sounds like you had a good time
These Gladiators are so cool!
Yes they are!
I flattened my right tail pipes on a rock a few weeks back. I didn’t notice until a few days later was walking behind it and saw that they were almost completely flattened haha . I was able to heat them up red hot, and stuck a pipe in them and reamed them back out to circles lol
Looks like those pipes are going to be rock magnets. I think I’m going to turn them up, kind of like the one that got pushed up. Probably have to do more than that but I’ll see.
Was that Dirty Little Secret trail?
I believe the name of that trail is meat grinder.
I'm adding an Atlas to mine and looking forward to trying it out. Always enjoy your videos.
Thanks! I’m sure you’ll really like the atlas.
Almost the same as the 2 low kit on my yj but i only have 1 lever, badass im definitely gona do this ,aswome video 👍
Thank you!
How did you hook your batteries up so you can jump the main with a push of a button?
Mine is the Genesis dual battery kit. It’s all part of the kit
Great video as usual. Can you make a video about how your coil overs handle bumps and small whoops Id like to see a little more faster moving wheeling from this Jeep because I want to see that suspension really workin
Thanks! I’m sure I can work that in.
Good stuff Ben. Id say when you get a med kit, open it.up and be familiar with how to use the stuff. Maybe take an offroad 1st aid class if available in one's area.👍 🫡
Definitely, I agree
Thank you. Helpful content.
Your welcome! Glad it was helpful.

Remember u don’t neeed a 392 to wheel or spend 150000 plus

Thanks! I glad you liked it.

I've had an Atlas for 10 years. You mention near the end just lifting off the throttle. This is exactly how I do it to engage/disengage the front axle, it works at any speed. Additionally, I follow your procedure going from low to high except I don't have to tap the brakes. If you are stopped you can shift the front (or rear if you are in low) in and out using the Atlas process that you described. I try to be in 4wd when approaching an obstacle so it's rarely an issue. It's generally easier to pull it 'out' of gear when stopped/stuck. It's impossible to go into front only when in high, there is a lock out. Also, every once in a while I don't realize I am in 4wd when going from low to high or high to low. It won't allow you to shift into both but I have sometimes fought it a bit till I realized the mistake I was making. If you are in Front low/rear low you have to go front neutral then rear to high. I tend to leave mine in low rear wheel drive for most of the trail, it make steering a bit easier. Mine is a 2.0 but it's also a 4 speed so putzing around in 2 to 1 is fine, and a lot of fun in washes. I know you don't have the 4speed but the really confusing part is the planetary gear for the 4 speed requires that you are completely stopped and in neutral. They take a bit of getting used to but I wouldn't give mine up.
Thanks for the information. It definitely does take some getting used to. It was a little frustrating when I first put it in but after figuring out how it works, I’m definitely liking it.
Super off road car jeep👍🤠{●|||||||●}🤠👍jeep

That’s good more for the rest of us.
So many issues with jeeps. They should all run with a team of Toyota recovery vehicles. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s fine that you like Toyota. But not everyone has to like the same thing. Have you ever owned a jeep? I haven’t any issues with mine.
@@benbastle No. I have friends that have way too many issues with them. The mechanical issues are not all the same. Happy to hear that you got a winner. Don’t get me wrong here. They are beautiful vehicles. I just can’t put my trust in something that could leave me stranded. My truck isn’t a mall crawler. It does what it was built to do. I can’t just call AAA. The desert is unforgiving as you might know. I don’t worry about making it back and at seventy years old I’m done turning wrenches unless it’s to doll her up a little bit.
@@Fozzi1-1836 You definitely have to drive what you have confidence in. It’s all about getting out and enjoying the outdoors, whether it’s in a Toyota, Jeep or another brand of vehicle.
Where is this?
Idaho
You have probably realized by now the ARB air lockers are the way to go!!!
Definitely!
Love your rig. Looks like you daily drive it! Curious what you get for fuel economy? 15 mpg?
Thanks! I get 12 to 13
@@benbastle that’s pretty great considering V8, one tons and 42s!!!!! I would be pleased with that
So what about if your in the rocks crawling in need to do a 2wd front dig where you unlock the rear but you can't go 5mph and your stuck and you have to spin the front around to get a better line
yes
Good Question. Advanced adapters told me you have to be moving to shift. I have seen some people doing what your talking about. That’s something I’ll have to figure out.
Man love the look of your 392. Can’t wait until mine has that Beast look. Well done sir 👍🏻
Thank you!
Enjoyed the video budz , first time viewer of your channel . Can you give us some details on your build ? Particularly your armor ? Rock rails , flares & bumpers ? Thanks
Thanks! If you go to my CZcams page, there is a video that goes over everything I’ve done to my jeep. The rock sliders and rear bumper are Motobilt. Front bumper is Rebel off-road. Flares are Genright.
