What song is this????
It is in the credits at end of video. Barefoot Man. I bought vinyl Come Scuba Do With Me many MANY years ago. I have his permission to use his music for my videos. He has written about 2,000 songs - yep, that many. He was in Cayman Islands. Not sure if still performing. Find vinyl on ebay. Great diving music! He has everything from kid music to raunchy.
Very cool
I don't think any of the marine life liked or appreciated that bright light in their faces. So octopus decided to do something about it
Thanks Jim for the wonderful experience...
Very welcome. I enjoy giving flights to Young Eagles.
Great job Mei! Hope you had a fantastic time and have the opportunity to fly again soon. Young Eagles is a great program, thanks to all who volunteer.
rest easy jaylen
Music is too damn loud. Quit watching after the music started the 2nd time.
That was super cool! As a student pilot at Tacoma Narrows I always wonder what it would be like flying over the cascades. Thanks!!
Cascades are not a big deal. Even in my little plane it's a 20 minute flight through the actual pass. The Rockies - now that is a different issue. Want to be over 10,000 ft and takes 2+ hours. I've done two round trips to Oshkosh, 2017 and 2019, so 4 trips over both mountain ranges in this little plane (follow I-90 each time). Good to take a mountain flying course. Ask your FBO or instructor if you are renting what their rules are. I always fly over a highway as then I know I have a flat area in case of an incident and highways go over a pass, which is generally low or lowest way through. It may be shorter to go direct over mountain ranges but if something happens there are few options, at least in small planes. I have flown into Stehekin where the only option is direct.
@@scubajam Very cool! Thanks for your reply!
Music is difficult. I cannot use commercial, copyrighted, music and want a flying theme. So must use free stuff.
How about no music, I would rather hear the engines or you talking about the flight
My dad owned the tug Triumph for a few years back in the 60s and i made a couple trips to Alaska on it as a kid. Thanks for the tour of it
Amazing Projekt! The 650 is a real nice plane! Well done!
Just guessing , this seal has been fed. She/he associates people/ divers with food. I didn't see it trying to physically hurt the diver more of a frustration act and maybe a more attention getter to express , hey I m hungry , others just like you fed me and I want more now. Years ago when living on a large lake in NC surrounded by swamps and waterways we began seeing alligators. Just a few to start occasionally and everyone's reactions were the same. Run.inside.get anything , bread if nothing else was available and all were doing this with.good intentions. As the populations.grew news about problems with Gators and people interacting in Fla kept making the news. Consequently we got told by every method there is from local and federal fish and wildlife do not feed alligators. and to so would be expensive if seen. No one needed a pink reminder I know of. All residents now know, understand and will not for the benefit of the Gators. Any Wildlife with capabilities of doing physical harm this definitely applies to foe same reasons. Fed animals lose fear and soon approach people expecting a handout and aren't able to comprehend not getting fed. This is a situation that could have really bad consequences for all. A fed animal usually means a dead one. Don't hurry it . Observe for a safe distance and no matter how hungry they appear feeding won't help the problem and again usually adds to it.

Way to go Elizabeth!! How cool is that? Love you sweetie!❤ What a great Grandpa!🥰
It was bit bumpy - fair amount of turbulence. Hard keeping cameras steady.
4:20 well we know it has good landing gear...
Boy do they have a chomp. I heard a guy recently got bit by one in Maui and it wouldn't let go and he ran out of air and had to cut his own hand off. Some 127 Hours type stuff.
Love the song choice
Look like a lot of loafers and nobody workin'!
Too cool!
Jim, you do a fantastic job with these Young Eagle Flights! As a long time CFI, I am impressed with your calm and detailed description of all aspects of these flights. Your discussion on the importance of eyes outside, on the horizon, and your pitch and bank references to the glareshield is so important! How long have you been a CFI? IF you aren't, we should work to get that done, im glad to help if needed. Fewer pilots today are learning good basic pitch, power, bank angle out the windshield flying. So many today are learning to be glass panel operators, and not pilots.... You, Sir, are getting these youngsters off on the absolute correct footing. Thanks again for flying Jameson today as well, he is still taking about his flight.
No CFI here. And at 75 I'm not inclined to start something. Insurance is hard enough now. Thnx for the good words and acknowledging what I thought was good basic instruction. Jameson did very well today, better than most and younger than many youth I fly. There's no rule he can have only one YE flight, but we like to space at least 6 months apart. He can join our chapter for our $5 a year student dues. That way he will get our newsletter and learn when our rallies are, maybe even help on the ground. I gave a YE ride to Ishitha in Dec and she started a youth aviation group on Instagram and now has near 100 members. She's even on our board of directors as Youth Ambassador and is taking glider lessons (solo at 14, glider license at 16). Jameson might want to join Sky Riders on Instagram. We have a very active YE program. Before COVID our Chapter 84 was flying 300 to 500 per year.
@@scubajam Jim, I will suggest both options. He may be off to college in Spring, possibly out of state. But just staying in touch and helping when able is a great way to stay involved and aware of opportunities to learn more. Thanks Again! Mark
Elizabeth how exciting for you!
Absolutely awesome watching this after the build video. Congrats!
Shouldn't you have gotten out of the water when they came by you? Arent you by law required to give them space?
nice build. Mind me asking how tall you are? I'm looking at the CH650 but want to make sure I fit
I'm 5'8", Steve about 5'11" and we have another about 6'1". We all fit. A 6'4" tried and could do, but knees were high. If you are building yourself you can adjust pedals. You may be able to install adjustable pedals; ours are stock - fixed. Headroom there is enough for a 6"10" wearing a cowboy hat! We actually have a 2" to 3" cushion under the seat for Steve and myself to get us up higher.
@@scubajam appreciate the response. I'm 6'2" I really like this plane. Planning on heading to zenith for factory visit, rudder workshop and demo flight.
WELL WE ALL KNOW NOW THAT AYRTON SENNA STILL AMONG US.THNX FOR THE HELP
Hi! Which engine have you chosen for the zodiac? And prop?
Rotax ULS 100 hp carb version. We looked at Viking, UL, Rotax, and Corvair. Rotax was most expense, and most reliable. This was 5 years ago. Viking and UL were both having issues. Today those have been solved and I would install Viking. The Rotax has been very reliable. I've flown from WA to OSH and back twice; across Cascades and Rockies.
The Warp Drive prop came with Rotax firewall forward package, which includes engine, prop, mount, and cowl. Since we have changed prop to Sensenich, which gave us extra 2-3 kts and much easier to adjust.
@@scubajam thank you so much for the information, I think I'll go for the same engine. And taking about the prop, what do you think about the WW? Similar to the WP or Sensenich?
@@aviacioncordoba I have no experience or information on WW. Sensenich has easy plug in setting for all 3 blades at one time and blade design is slightly scimitar shape. Warp drive is standard 100 yr old prop shape and each blade has to be set with level and angle. Seems easy, but actually difficult to get all 3 blades exactly the same. Then to change angle slightly is another major task. Sensenich just plug in a different angle pin on the hub and all 3 blades easy to set. It comes with 3 or 4 pins, each has 2 settings. Been a couple years since we last did it. We've been flying instead of wrenching, although we have made small adjustments and obviously on-going maintenance to the airframe; nothing to the engine except a couple springs on the exhaust system have broken. That is common on Rotax. We have all our maintenance done by a local shop that specializes in only experimental and light sport aircraft. They are Rotax and Dynon dealers and know their stuff. Now as the springs break they are replaced with after market stainless steel ones (2 springs in 3 years). The one item not good on the Rotax and it doesn't affect reliability. For example on the maintenance shop: experimental owner (not sure which model plane) came in complaining of leak in fuel system, gascolator. Aircore at KAWO took it apart and noted gasket was oversized. They went back to parts room for a new one and 15 min later when they returned old gasket was to original shape. Seems the alcohol in the fuel caused it to expand. Changed gasket to different material - no more issues. Not many shops would catch that; most would throw away gasket immediately. We burn mostly premium mogas w/o alcohol from Costco or Co-op, but our entire fuel system is alcohol resistant just in case. Obviously have to burn 100LL when away from home base. Rotax recommends changing oil twice as frequently if burning 100LL. 50 hrs vs 100 hrs, but really changing more frequently is best, like 25 and 40 to 50 hrs. Plane is now 375 hrs after 3.5 years. If I had to do now, I would go with Viking engine. They have worked out the bugs and 130 hp vs 100. We have a local pilot built Zenith CH-750 high wing with Viking and it has been good for him. But that is just one data point.
@@scubajam I really appreciate your help, and if have any doubt I'll ask you if you don't mind. Here in Argentina it's really difficult to find fuel w/o ethanol, and this causes a lot of problems (for example fuel destroyed fuel senders in the tank of a ch750). But I'll take notes of all these to be aware. Have a nice 2021!
Does anyone remember Donna Zatta she passed 2000, she's my sister...

Is this the mark Langford that used the John deer permanent magnet alternator for the R C airplane? At least I believe it was an airplane! If so I came across the John deer permanent magnet alternator and my first thought was that it would be ideal for running lights on a motorised bike without having to run a heavy battery unless you wanted to! Also on an E bike you could charge while riding! In theory!

Liked the video!
wow! what ugly fish live on our side of the ocean hahahaha. love the ocean life though, awesome vid!
Your cool I'm just kidding
Hello Jim, is there an email to contact you?
See last frames of the video
Your left wing went down immediately on lift off and you turned left. Take another look. if it had been a breeze your wings would have remained level. Now let me tell you why! Your body weight in this light plane (I have a Zenith, too.) is on the left side of centerline. If you fly alone a lot then put something in right winglocker to counterbalance and you will see this balance the stick pressure.
Hi could you pls send the design drawing manual for ch 650 or ch 601.... planning to scratch build it....
Absolutely NO. You can buy plans directly from Zenith. They support plans built, but only if you buy plans from them. There are many, many pages and lots of detail. Still, it is an airplane and you have to figure some things out. The $$ for the plans are not just for the paper, but also for the support. You can buy many items that are difficult to scratch build, like canopy, landing gear, and lots of detail items. With the plans you get a serial number that says you are officially authorized to build the plane. With the plans you also get support so you can email or call them and they will answer questions. This is not a cheap plane, even plans built. You can also consider building a KR2S, which are all plans built and much less $$ but support is only by online forum. The engine and radios/instruments will cost much more than the basic plane.
What engine did you use? regalblueeagle2@gmail.com

Holy crap that second one looked massive
Yeah ,,,,invite an experienced expert in and the fucking peanut gallery has to constantly interject and interupt.
I went in 2019. This is a great video and representative of what I saw yesterday. Appreciate the shots of the ID plaques. Nice panning for that "being there" view. Thank you!!!
Glad you like it and appreciate it. Lots of editing work. I sold the 172 and now flying a homebuilt Zenith CH-650 you can see in my other videos. I did fly the 650 to Hood River Fly-In in 2018. I missed this year, 2019, repairing damage to my plane from turbulence coming back from Oshkosh.
I Love Octopus There Cute
That Octopus Rocks
Can you put a Titan engine in this aircraft?
Great Video. We did a live boat dive off the west side of the deception pass island in the late nineties during the end of low tide and during "ebb tide" (if you want to call it that). We dropped off and stayed in the eddy area with two divers suited and two operating the boat. Even during ebb, when you got to the edge of the eddy area, the current was 2-3 kts. There is a massive wall on the west side with interesting crags. We came across the largest octopus I have ever seen anywhere in one of those crags. Too bad she was backed in so we couldn't get her out to spread for us. Phenomenal place, but you need to know what you are doing. I was experienced (@300 dives, 200 in NW), but the guys I was with were very experienced.
