The Simpsons Homages to Stanley Kubrick
Had to listen with the volume off; the added audio over the original was most distracting from the content.
This is from the Dutch interview show Wintergasten. The interviewer is film critic Joyce Roodnat. Originally aired in 2006.
FULL METAL JACKET IS A GREAT FILM.
Christiane Kubrick is also Cynthia Lennon and George Harrison is also Stanley Kubrick. John Lennon is also Steve Jobs and Kubrick used an iPad with FaceTime in 2001 Space Odyssey and George Harrison also died in 2001.
A masterpiece by Stanley Kubrick saw it re released in cinemas in 2019 in 4K
I’ve seen this clip before, but it’s recommended now, especially after Shelley just die recently. She was a tremendous performer and really held her own along with Jack. She was as cute as a button and great in every project she worked on.
I love Shelly in The Shining!!

The gorgeous blonde lady singer in the club was a close friend of Malcolm McDowell's, who insisted that Kubrick give her a part in the film.
I saw Kubrick’s films before I watched his actual films. Thanks to The Simpsons.
I´m pretty sure that Jan Harlan spoke the synchronisation in german for Mr. Grady....
All of the Vietnam scenes were shot from late August 1985 to late December 1985. The sniper confrontation was filmed in July 1986 at Pinewood Studios in the middle of Kubrick shooting the boot camp sequence. Modine is wearing a wig under his helmet if you look closely. Another fun fact. The death of Cowboy was shot just before New Years Eve 1985 and it was so cold in fact that Kubrick had to frame his death scene so that all four of them are huddled around him, so even though it was a beautiful shot, it was all arbitrary. And the reason he could only shoot the scene that exact way, was because just out of frame, were those heaters you see at the sideline of football games, blowing hot air into the actors face to cover up their cold breath.
10:31 there is no preface for the interview and is followed by a reporter calling him the director of lolita, which makes it seem that the interview about intelligent life in outer space is about lolita
I think Kubrick did something so very wrong. The original character wasn't overweight, rather the opposite, and it was K's choice to make it so, which was horrible on the actor (even though D'Onofrio was of course magnificent, but he had to do something just obnoxious to his body AND self, and he injured his knee as well because of his weight) AND on the collective mind. Horrible. But Vincent D'Onofrio is a gift, the sheer fact he exists brings me to tears
This movie isn't off by 25 yrs - more like 250 yrs! - to build such a huge spinning space station & moonbase for real - that is if the economy doesn't collapse, etc. first & soon.
The conquering leader’s expression at 0:17 always has me laughing my kidney’s onto the floor
Fun fact: the actor playing Kubrick is the same actor who played Daxter in the Jak & Daxter games.
I fucking miss Gilbert. Also... I'm a retard...friends?
Thank you for putting this up.

Disgusting amounts of irony
What a great little find! Hadn't seen it. BTW, the movies depicted in docu is The Beastmaster (1982) and finally, the night car chase stuff is Vice Squad (1982).
I wish the entire "Film Night" with Sellers and Milligan could be reposted again. It was here some time ago, but I never saw it.
Really would love to know the source of this
sorry about that, let me poke around my notes and see I can this. I used to trade with people to get so much Lynch stuff, I had so much. I might be able to find the source
Sad Roger never got to see people land on Mars, and we still probably won't see it for many decades
I remember doing the background activities during training at Bassingbourn barracks back in the 80s. Fond memories 😅
come join the Stanley Kubrick Appreciation Society on Facebook there are at least 4 people (2 regulars) there who worked on FMJ, maybe more. Share memories
How long were you on the film?
@kubricksuniversepodcast was a few weeks, it was during my training for the army .
Do you have any interesting stories to share ?@@leemichel8199
Is this even a real commercial? I cant find it anywhere else
I have been collecting SK commercials for 30 years and am picky about what I put in my collection. I wrote an essay for a book on SK influenced commercials. I only put on my yt channel if I had it from vhs or the online source is gone. That all said, yeah this one was borderline for me. It does have that feel like its some mashup, but I did make the call to upload it. Its been on my pc so long I don't recall the source I see why you ask the question though. I remember wondering it myself.
@@TheJnatch Yeah reason I asked is because I'm also writing an essay about a certain commercial and I wanted to use this but since it's all stock footage it's hard to tell if it's real
@@TheJnatchI definitely remember seeing this back in the late 2000s, but I’m also not sure if it was an actual commercial or something someone made and uploaded to YT. Either way, it’s great!
You can't fight in the war room but that doesn't mean PIE fights are off the table. :)
Kubrick bordered on genius and lunatic
Badly edited / shortened from the DVD. Poor sound. Thumbs down on this one.
fair enough. I didnt edit fwiw just plopped it here
If you are a fan of the book both movies are trash tbh...esp when you know that the author even wrote a whole ass screenplay and nobody used it :/
One of the most common negative comments about films are that they are not true to the source novel. When the reality is no film can be because every film would be at least 4 hours long if it was tbh. Nabakov was quite pleased with Kubrick's adaptation of his book. Nabakov's screenplay would have also ran several extra hours on screen and that was explained to him and he saw his error. His whole ass screenplay was actually one giant BOOTY that couldnt be filmed.
ha agreed. i know nabokovs screenplay would be far too long. but if lolita can only be adapted in a four hour film, then spare four hours! i read his screenplay and i loved it. never watched the other two but i dont hold out much hope
I love this commercial!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣☺️🤣
2061. Please.
I like that master shot feeling like a frame and take that Kubrick himself would've done (all that glorious headroom). I'm not sure if that accent is accurate though; Kubrick's accent was more pronounced and nasal.
lol
!
You can see why it’s not been released. Its really badly shot and the quality awful. Why are all the shots so tight? Maybe it’s been cropped, but I doubt it. Nepotism at its worst.
it is cropped, my opening is in English and it explains how this was made. This is not the documentary it is my edit and it is tight because there are excerpts from several sources. Tow of the sources are from people filming a screen. I wish I could do the opening in multiple languages
@@TheJnatch Did Vivian go mad? I think I read that somewhere.
I'm grateful that Stanley Kubrick was among us.
Inspired the movie.
So touching not long after Siskel's passing.
R.I.P Siskel & Ebert.
R.I.P Kirk Douglas of Spartacus ad Larry King.
Came for the review, stayed for the VHS static; this shit is more nostalgic than old commercials.
VCRs not VCR's. Besides this annoyingness, love this edit. And also. I love VCR edits.
Yes, plural s vs. possessive apostrophe+s. I did this rushed. I goofed.
Killer's not Killers. Sorry.
This is such a great channel
Thanks Antoine
I love how modest Lynch always is, except for this moment. You can just see how proud he is to brag about that, as we all would be. James Cameron, Robert Altman, Albert Brooks are all iconic, influential directors, but they all get so happy to tell their Kubrick story of when Kubrick loves their movie or asks how they did a shot. I love when directors show their love and respect for each other.
he said that hes genius
38:11 on the nose
R.I.P Merv Griffin.
