Going to a Walmart in Florida near Disneyland everything is more expensive and really is not a good choice of location to judge the store. Your trolley/cart is probably worn out as their customer load is off the charts busy.

We have about 20 gallons of milk frozen at all times. We live 70 miles from the nearest Walmart, Target, Costco, and Sam's Club, so we shop once a month except for a few things you run out of we just get at IGA in the nearest town about 20 miles away. We live in the mountains of Montana. I personally hate Walmart. To many people and there are 3 of them in the town we shop in. The population is only 110,000, and it's the biggest city in Montana

Walmart can be an impulse buyers nightmare. I never go to Walmart without a shopping list. It helps focus my wallet on needed items and I’m not distracted by ALL of the “Ohhhh look at that!” Stuff. If you like Walmart you should try Costco or Sam’s.

We have large homes with large fridges. I even have a deep freezer in my basement. It's not like we eat everything in one sitting... I typically do a big shopping trip about twice a month and load up on freezer items, meats, cereals, canned goods and stuff like that. Then during the week I will usually grab a gallon of milk, and some fresh bread as needed.

it's not a trolley, it's a shopping cart. And if you grab one that has a bad wheel, you just take it back and get one that does not have a bad wheel. Nobody will say anything, I do it all the time, you test the wheels when you get it, and if one is bad you get a different one.

American refrigerators are huge so we buy for the week instead of a day or two here.

Sometimes people from UK forget that the U.S. is still on the Standard system of weights and measurement so yes it's still a little bigger than metric weights and measurement. Of course yes the packaging is made for a week or two of family use to avoid having to go to the market every couple of days.

I have a now retired relative who was an executive at Walt Disney World. Upon my first visit to the Magic Kingdom, she escorted me all around the park. Before leaving, I wanted to purchase souvenirs on Main Street by which to remember my day. She stopped me and said Florida locals never buy their Disney things at the Magic Kingdom because the prices are expensive compared to the stores, like Walmart, who carry essentially the same stuff at more reasonable prices. I was initially disappointed to leave without a souvenir ‘Mickey’ t-shirt, but later I was glad I waited. The selection of Disney paraphernalia at Walmart was impressive and the prices more reasonable. I learned a valuable lesson - buy your souvenirs at the local Walmart. I saved, similarly, on a vacation trip to Honolulu. Skipped the tourist kiosks and headed to Walmart. They even had an huge “souvenirs” sign hanging from the ceiling. There were all of the “Hawaii” branded merchandise that tourists like to buy. An employee told me that when the locals want to send such stuff to their families and friends on the mainland, they buy their gifts at Walmart, not the overpriced tourist spots. I’ve also bought logo wear for a particular university at the local Walmart in the college town for much less money than shopping at the local campus bookstore. The Walmart sweatshirts and hats look every bit as good as the on-campus bookstore apparel, but at a substantial savings. Shop where the locals shop, eat where the locals eat - that’s the smart way to save. If you’re unfamiliar in a new location, just ask the locals for the name of their favorite restaurant, for example. I’ve never been steered wrong. Nobody knows their own area better than the locals.

You need to keep in mind that places like Walmart and Costco stock large packages because many people live far away from the city and may need to stock up weeks or months in advanced. If you live far from a shopping area, shopping at a Walmart is good when the weather turns bad and unable to drive on the roads. Some people have large families , and other people need to purchase large quantities for parties, and special events.

What’s a Spirit Jersey? Do you mean logo’d sports apparel? I guarantee you that in Florida, there will be Gators, Seminoles, Dolphins, Marlins, Rays and Heat jerseys in Walmarts. You must have missed that whole Men’s section.

Tip: Always test out the carts before entering the store. If it doesn’t roll correctly, choose one that does and leave the wobbly one behind, so they know that one needs a screwdriver to tighten the wheels. Taking the trolleys around the parking lot causes the wear and tear which could get missed when collected in stacked rows. It takes one extra minute to avoid the frustration of having to steer instead of guide the shopping cart.

There's 5 people in my family and we live out in the Texas country, you are taking this all wrong, the US is spread out unlike Europe so the grocery stores have given people here an option, you can get a gallon of milk, a half gallon of milk or a quart, or a pint. There's always going to be a super size to choose from. A lot of business owners shop at these stores and they sometimes need a big bag of cheese for their mobile food trucks or small taco stands. My family is originally from Norway and when I go visit relatives they only by small amounts of food for like the next 2 days, then they shop again for the next 2 days and so forth. In the US people fill a huge cart up and they usually don't go back for 2 to three weeks, we don't buy food every day or every other day. Mark seemed like he was annoyed or upset on the selection of food over here and that's too bad.

It's a bit over-whelming to me. I prefer a selection of Mom and Pop establishments. So what - it's more traveling, but, at least I know where everything is.

Hey the reason things are so big here it's because we have large family's alot of the time.

Only a Brit would say something so outrageous like, " too much choice." WTF! What do expect from a country where a grown man/woman cannot even carry a pistol.

A couple of things...yes, there's massive choice, but when people go shopping, they know exactly what they are shopping for...there's no hard decisions to make, unless they happen to be out of what you are looking for, then there may be a decision to make. Also, the large sizes...well, the box DOES say "Family Size", so it is designed for the whole family to have, not just one. The very large sizes are for those who shop once a month and will last for a month (or it may be stored in the deep freeze). Many Americans don't do weekly shops, but will do monthly shopping. (except for certain items that won't last a month). We don't always have time to do weekly shops...we have other fun things to do than spend an hour in the shops. :D

Wallyworld's a bit of what's known as a "category killer" in that it consolidates several of what would be considered as "Main Street" shops into one. Some have even more than just auto shops, including the actual petrol pumps as well. Stop by the place and get darned near all your otherwise multiple trips in one go. Some have dry cleaning so you buy the clothes, get them soiled, get them cleaned and as most have pharmacies, some have mini clinics. See a doctor, get the meds.

Many foreigners are shocked by the massive size of each product. The reason being so big is so you only shop 1 or 2 times a week. Lol most of those over size products would normally take 1 week or 2 weeks to consume.

Me and my friends decided that if at any point there should be a national crisis, we would gather our guns and our family and take refuge in a Walmart because it literally has everything.

Walmart is actually moderately priced on everything in America. Even though Walmart's prices may look cheap to you, they really aren't that cheap. Aldi and WinCo Foods are 2 of the most popular discount foods stores and they are both cheaper than Walmart on most things. Other stores are sometimes cheaper too. For that day and time, Walmart looked fairly busy. The busiest time of all is Black Friday. There are so many people that you can hardly move! Most places, especially Amusement Parks and Entertainment Centers, are busiest on Saturdays.

I would love to see British people that have done reactions of going to walwart do a reaction of going to Sam's Club which is owned by walmart and has larger quantities.

I can only imagine what your reaction would have been in a Sam's Club or Costco store, lol. To put it into perspective, they are bulk stores where you might find a pie the size of a huge wagon wheel! Or a carton of 36 eggs! Etc. It's made for people with large families or for those who only want to go to the store once a month. And people who live in more rural areas may travel an hour to get there but it's a one stop shop that will keep them in stick for a month or longer.

I have always said that there is a special factory where they make carts for Wal-Mart that are always pre-bent or crooked.

We usually only go for a major shopping trip once a month and go get 1 or 2 items as we need them.

Target is so much better than Walmart. But the stuff we take for granted here in America

CostCo, Sam’s Club, and to a lesser degree Walmart, have bulk food items so the price per pound is cheaper. Perfect for restaurants, institutions, and big families that go through a lot of food.
