I was really sad to hear that they not only removed the pink sapphires but used them for making a pair of earrings. It’s true there a lot more synthetic sapphires than natural but If you searching adding in the words “ Natural snd GIA Certified “ you should see a number of different components selling natural sapphires including us. To be able to buy in confidence always insist on a GIA or AGL sapphire report, if you have any questions please feel us we have excellent gemologist who can answer any questions you might have.

I recommend having a certified GIA gemologist have a look, most stones set into silver rings are synthetic or not sapphires but it’s always worth having this checked

Natural heat heating the sapphire without the use of chemicals which are often used to change the color of the surface of the sapphire. This type of heating known as Diffusion and is a temporary treatment often used with commercial grade sapphire’s

How you will know if its heated blue sapphire if its heated ?
Ideally, you need a good gemologist preferably someone who specializes in gemstones, it can be difficult even for a gemologist to be able to detect a sapphire that has been heat treated especially with gentle heat. With a sapphire that’s been heated, you see the inclusions that have been smoothed out and taken on a different appearance when comparing two sapphires with similar inclusions, a) no heat and b) heat, side by side, I added link below to our educational pages which shows pictures of what a heated sapphire inclusions can look like once heated. sapphirerings.org/inclusions It’s important to know that over 85% of natural sapphire sold have been chemically enhanced,(very different from a heated sapphire) sapphire’s that have been treated and enhanced chemically have similar values to synthetic sapphire’s, because of these new treatments can also be difficult to detect is why it’s important to have a laboratory report from laboratory’s like the GIA who lead the field in gemstone identification. gems mined from earth are like babies born naturally while gems from labs are like babies born thru IVF...just a thought..about heat treatment,i guess there's no need for we have hot season all year round..letting my gem slowly & surely cooked under the sun..hahaha..and ill be like from 50 years from now,oh my..my gem has changed its color,it's cooked!!let's celebrate!!kidding aside..flaws on gems are like human DNA..
Thank you for your reply, I love hearing feedback and thoughts from our CZcams community I agree, a sapphire or any gem that comes from the ground, cut and set has a unique allure knowing that the sapphire or any gemstone hasn’t been changed, I also seen sapphire’s especially yellow sapphires from Sri Lanka which change negatively when heated. It not an exact science.
