New Hope SA, an organization dedicated to transforming lives of the homeless in Cape Town, South Africa, released an overview video today, showcasing its comprehensive services and unique approach towards addressing homelessness. The video delves deep into the complexities of homelessness, challenging societal stigmas and misconceptions about those who find themselves without stable housing. By humanizing this complex issue, New Hope SA strives to drive greater empathy and understanding within the community, emphasizing that "Every human being is worthy of love and of being a part of a community."
New Hope SA's holistic program focuses not only on creating sustainable pathways out of homelessness but also on addressing associated challenges such as trauma, addiction, and lack of employable skills. The organization believes in empowering individuals through a variety of resources including counseling, social services, and practical skills training.
As part of the program, New Hope SA operates residential homes that accommodate up to 10 individuals at a time, providing a safe, nurturing environment where participants can recover and grow. "It's really a space in which people can heal from their trauma, from their addiction, from so many things, which then leads to being able to be more employable, which leads to confidence." explains Leila Bolland, social worker at New Hope SA.
Highlighting the organization's work-based program, the video reveals how participants build practical skills by creating planter boxes, aiding them in gaining confidence and learning valuable work ethic. This nurturing and supportive environment, according to New Hope SA, transforms the lives of its residents by promoting self-worth and learning new skills.
The ultimate goal of New Hope SA is to help participants graduate from the program with a new understanding of their worth, feeling loved by a community, and ready to contribute positively to their communities. The organization believes in the power of human connection and dignity, urging society to extend compassion and understanding to those facing homelessness.
Let's work together to change lives and perceptions about homelessness.

St Peters Microsite - Overview

Three weeks into a nationwide lock-down, on the 24th of April 2020 the microsite was born. The previous week had been a terrific scramble of Whatsapps, Zoom calls & permit-wielding, trailer-hitched driving to make sure we had all the necessary things in order. Mattresses, bedding, dividers, washing facilities, food, PPE, toiletries, night supervisors, social workers, intake-procedure, drug with...

Thanks! Will do!
Wow I'm so impressed ..I was in Parow mes they are amazing
Very proud of you Caroline. I am glad and blessed that I could be a part of your journey
shelters are full of drugs, stabbings, aids, violence, spread of disease, stealings,...these kind of shelters in fact are not there to help the weak
See: money pits
Will is Spurling Joe if you’re in such a position that you need a homeless shelter who in the hell has $1000? If you had that hell you could live in a hotel for 20 days for that.
Where is our Almighty Creator in this?? Not once was He praised! Not for me.
Amazing work 🙏🏽 ❤
This is amazing!

🙌🙌🙌
I want to reinvent this system
If they can read and write, they’ll understand the rules. If they only want to have a hot meal and corner to sleep, filling forms is the last thing they have in mind. This programme highlighted important issues. Opened our minds.
Great video and thank you for the heartfelt reminder of the heart even while indirect, I don’t think I’ll be in a situation where I’ll actually need to stay in a shelter because I would be doing so to lower accommodations, I can afford a couple different places even while they’re technically still homeless. I’m trying to pay off debt and have the lowest living expenses possible, I’ll be able to stay in my car at truck stops.
One of the worst mistakes they ever done in my city was putting up a homeless shelter! These people, mostly heroin addicts, crackheads, drunks and pedophiles spend all day in the park(Which used to be a nice, safe place growing up) and hanging out in the plaza harassing people all day asking people for money and cigarettes instead of being out there looking for work! I really wish that someone with nothing to lose would actually set it on fire and burn it to the ground at night while they are all asleep!
Great work gyz, keep up the good work
Look what happens to me. I house on my property 14 former homeless people. Today, in the case # 21 2 00471 15, the Superior Court from Coupeville, Washington state, judge Carolyn Cliff, signed an order saying to move all my tenants in hotels, not to rent to other homeless people, not to collect rents, to pay back the 3 rents, and to pay for moving out their belongings. Island County called my rental to homeless people as illegal and criminal. Now Island County asked the judge to sign an order to allow the police for use physical force to arrest me and to pay 300,000 fines for my illegal renting. I will be arrested for not going homeless and not having money to execute some orders they asked me
Lol
Lord lead me 🙏🙏
How c an they afford to pay rent to a shelter
God bless these carers & volunteers, they are doing God' s work to help the poor & needy
If there were a God, there wouldn't be poor and needy.
Maine shelters are equipped really well and maine residence filling with donations so the guest s have nothing to want ,Some workers cause Abuse by committing Fraud I was a nonsmoker most employees smoked they stole my belonging lied on personal documents made my stay harder longer this caused my homeless housing fraud in Maine.
So many youtube channels with crappy content earn more views on this guys channel. Posted videos on his channel from two years back have single digit views as of today. One video was a fundraiser. if we viewers start sharing it to our friends and he earns a revenue from youtube and even help out at the very least 1-2 homeless people wont it be worth our few minutes of trouble. I feel he is a very truthfull man and i meant the worst case scenario when i tld 1-2 at the very least.
UNEMPLOYED -- 360rand = 26 dollars EMPLOYED -----1050rand =76 dollars
Inspirational!!! 💛 🤗
u need fill more file then booking a hotel
Not enough paperwork in my opinion, this is not a vacation stay, it's meant to get the homeless onto the next stage of life....I worked for this organization, they do a great job with limited resources.
yay
$1,000 a month for rent at the homeless shelter WTF
not dollars, rands. 1 dollar gets u roughly 20 rands
@Tyeumm its fifty bucks.
That's not my city does it.
Great video
Thanks Rich, seems like quite a process to get a bed... but love the idea of the journey and the step up to the next level... they seem to be really on the ball.
