    One morning I found our gelding standing by a pipe gate that was covered in heavy hog wire with the heel of a front shoe caught with his leg raised 18" off the ground...just standing and waiting. He had been properly hobble trained. 👏👏👏

    Oh yeah. A horse used to be, get saddled and get to the store, to work, school, wherever you had to go. Usually in a hurry. Same as jumping in the truck and going these days.

    I agree a lot of times "cold backed" is taught behavior.. Saddle = buck. No one taught them any difference... Some get over it some never really do could blow up any moment..

    Good explanation. One reason a horse may turns head to the outside of the circle is because their inside hind leg gets tired of flexing underneath the belly to balance and hold the frame. They will turn their head for a number of strides to take the pressure as you're building muscles in that leg. They can only turn their head to the outside if the inside hind leg straighten or not reaches under the barrow as deeply. sometimes they need to take a little break and use the rebalance to stretch their body and leg bit from the circle. When they are young and don't have all the muscles built in the right places to hold up their abs and build flank muscles they get tired quickly going on direction.
