Rebel Moon Part 2 is Also Not Very Good
Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver is a monumental achievement, in that it is somehow significantly worse than Part 1. This is the worst piece of media I have ever had the displeasure of analysing. Strap in, because this film is an experience.

I thought it was important that Bilbo refrains from violence in the book and that was sorely missing in the movies due to it being a fundamental piece of Bilbo's character.

Oof, that was a journey....That part about the consequences of actions or lack thereof hit hard. I never thought people would write something that would make the GoT duo look moderately capable, and I'm mentioning GoT especially because it was basically consequence porn; from whether you'd decide to have a quickie with your sister to just pissing off too many people. I think I'm mostly miffed to the point of disgust with their certainty that they were doing so good that they had to bring in the delicate metaphysical/ontological guns like the innate evil or not of the orcs, because they'd done everything else so well that was the next natural step 🙄In a better world, Joseph Maule's performance would be a milestone in fantasy lore, but the fact that such a plotline can't hinge on a luckily scripted figure and a great actor, it needs.....argumentation, scenario, acting skills allaround, direction and actual moral sense, just made it tilt so heavily on Adar's perspective, because Adar was the only character whose portrayal felt had a whole history behind it, and who was actually displaying real actual feelings whether misguided or not. It's the first time I've seen a performance that is simply **too** good for the scenario. This is a new one. The people who made this are legitimately black holes of quality, they don't simply ignore good, they actively repell it with their choices. I'm kinda glad the character was recast tbh, so now this plotline too will return most likely to the level of the rest of the show and it'll simply become another hole-ridden plot. This show was too little to tackle this aspect of Tolkien, the whole Adar situation belonged to a much, much superior work to really work as it should.

Yeah, Blade Runner 1 and 2049 certainly are masterpieces. Easily one of the best movie duoligies ever made. How on Earth both Ryan Gosling and Jared Leto ended up being in 1 of my top ten favourite movies and 1 other of my top 50 favourite movies (Jared Leto being in Blade Runner 2049, one of my top 50 favourite movies of all time, and Requiem for a Dream, my 4th favourite movie of all time, and Ryan Gosling also being in Blade Runner 2049 and being in Drive, my 5th favourite movie of all time), I don't know. Yeah, as good as the story of Saw 1 and 2 are, the rest of the Saw movie you mainly watch for the traps and to see how absurd and convoluted the story gets and also for Tobin Bell's performance as John Kramer. Not to see objectively good movies.

It is in my head canon that Thranduil brought his army to force the dwarves to give him his treasure. King Thranduil would have started a war with the Dwarves in the beginning of movie if Smaug didn't show up. Because Smaug shows up, Thranduil believes it is a just punishment and leaves them to suffer for there consequences

The parts of the movie that make zero sense are due to the fact they are made up. Even if a few are hinted at in other books and journals, there was not a single reason to include a lot of the extra garbage. So much of this is done in order to stretch what could have been a 3 hour single movie into 3 horrible movies. I suggest trying to read the book while forgetting this series. LOTR is fun if you dont watch these or the Rings of Powher.

The way you described what Norrie's rational reaction to the consequences of her action reminded me so much of Powder/Jinx in Arcane, and I think that comparison with a much, much better character in an infinitesimally better constructed world makes it even more obvious how unnaturally everyone reacts to the weight of past events in this series....

I'm sorry, but I can't get over the --lightsabers-- laser swords. You mean that they invented, and USE, swords whose handles burn their wielders. But also, it's so easy to fix said issue that a piece of cloth along the handle is enough to wield them barehanded. So the people who invented them intentionally designed the swords to burn the people that use them unless they are wearing gloves. I did a rewrite for the first movie, and one important thing I added was the idea of ID tagging the weapons and ships so only people in the imperium could use them. Link the laser swords to the gloves because they've got a chip in them, have her laser sword be damaged in the fight and require the cloth to cover an exposed component, anything but making the sword wrong as a joke.

The Necromancer part of these movies is something that gets mentioned in the books, I forget if it’s in the movie version of the council scene in Fellowship. It’s theorized by Gandalf that Sauroman had been working with Sauron for a good while, that him dismissing the Necromancer’s presence was explicitly a ploy from him to delay the council from learning of Sauron’s rise. The climax of that arc does kinda suck though because yeah no Gandalf *SEES THE DAMN EYE AND DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY PANIC AND ACT WITH THE RANDOM NEW RING BILBO HAS*

It was always my opinion that dwarves were very hardy physically but mentally very susceptible and fickle, so Thorin was very weak to both dragon/gold sickness and the thrall of the Arkenstone. It was an issue as soon as he got anywhere near home. It probably also has to do with having “King’s blood”; I always thought it would be interesting if the royal dwarves were slightly inbred like many royal families.

I just realized; the Rebels must've been aware that the Imperium's scanners couldn't detect anyone hiding underground, or wouldn't bother to check unless they had a reason to. Otherwise they wouldn't have gone to the trouble of digging a tunnel network in order to ambush them. This means that they had a way to hide their women and children, by digging another tunnel for them to hide in somewhere else, and didn't think to do it. Also, why was Nemesis the only person in the long house protecting them? You've got an entire village full of people fighting to save their homes, but could only spare a single person to protect their loved ones? If the rebels thought protecting the women and children was important enough to keep one of their best fighters off the frontline, I'm pretty sure they would've put a few extra guys in there with her as back up.

The orcs one I can actually explain. Orcs can survive in sunlight no problem but have low stamina and are much stupider than goblins. Goblins are smaller, faster, can run longer but cannot be in the sun. Saruman bred them to get, big, strong, mobile in the day orc traits but also fast, intelligent and have endurance like goblins

Good fucking God, the Scargiver. It took me about a month to sit through the first, and that one I was laughing at cause it was hysterically bad at times. This one I watched fast because it wasn't goofing off enough so it was easy to just keep it playing and you wouldn't miss unintentional fuckups in the intricate ways they were in the first. It was just a lull. Like watching an a-hole injecting himself with heroin and lay there tripping for a while. Booooring. No funny ugly aliens manhandling beta males. No spider-women. And for the love of fuck, can someone please edit fan-edits of all Zack Snyder movies to remove/speed up all the slow motion?

There comes a time when a true visionary makes a story so incredible, so wonderful, so beyond our normal mortal scope that few can truly appreciate the intellectual mastery of it. This is not one of them. In fact, it's sad that so many actually good ideas and stories get sidelined only for reconstituted grease slop like this to get multi-million dollar movies made for them.
