I can see the a lot of inspiration from Ultima 8: Pagan here (despite U8 is the bad game that suffered with the terrible execution). I mean, the act 3 in D2 is basically more about the corruption and scandal behind the Paganism civil culture in the jungle. It's like Rogue Encampment/Tristram situation but in the wild jungle civilization and they're cursed, creeped in and corrupted by the Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred.

This really brings me back. A buddy and mine were just talking about all the little extra bits added in these "older" games. Just like the bloopers in the first Pixar movies, this was a collection of fun gags the developers did in their spare time. It doesn't make it more marketable, improve the gameplay, or add to the lore. It's just fun. While this in itself isn't the mark of a great game, it's the byproduct of people that love their work. I'm sure there's people out there making great games still. I just don't have time for them like I used to. Regardless, thanks for the memories. This is a great nostalgia trip. Reminds me of simpler times.

Ahhh, the memories. I legitimately forgot about the War II cinematic "bloopers" recreated in the War III engine for the credits. I believe it was Allen Dilling who went the extra mile on this. Yet another thing lost in Reforged. :(

I remember Alkor saying something about a golden bird’s “ash-hole”, which I’m pretty sure was a bit of gossip rather than anything related to the first quest.

This game came with an extra, a beavis and butthead best off Screen Saver, my favorite! With more than an hour of video material shuffles, it was my excuse to not work on school projects and wait for the screen saver to start :)

It pisses me off that this isn't in Reforged.

I was so excited the first time I got here in the game! By now, Andariel, the first main villain was dead, and the scope of the war against the Three seemed to be vaster.

So terrible game.

I'm not much into Dungeon and dragons stuff but Warcraft 2 and 3 are one of my favorite games !
