    Thank you for making this video. I'm stuck between taking a payroll course(s) with Coursera or taking a course with CUNY. I live in NYC and the price point is a huge difference. I'm currently paying for my son's college tuition and was wondering if Coursera would be worth the money as I would like to further my knowledge in finance but don't want to waste money. I truly appreciate your honesty and thoroughness.

    Elon has mismanaged all of his companies if you consider the red ink and reputation. He has nothing more than a Bachelor of Arts and pretends to be an engineer. One thing he actually did. He designed the worst truck ever because he also thinks that he is a visual designer. He is not. Elon needs mbas at his companies because being a venture capitalist raising money will eventually run dry.

      Nope - which is why I recommend MBAs often, as it is a way for someone without a business background to get up to speed and become more competitive in the job market. Although an MBA application is likely stronger with an engineering bachelors degree, for example, there are plenty with a variety of unrelated degrees that go on to earn an MBA.

      @@RichardWalls awesome. Thank you. Now last question are there prerequisites to take prior or is that dependent on the school. I know for Physicians assistant and even nursing schools you can get your BSN and apply to their program but you have to have certain classes done prior to the program. Wondering if this is the same thing.

      As with any job hunt, your goal, in effect, is to provide evidence to prospective hiring managers that you're a good fit for a certain role. Having a verifiable certificate (what you could earn through Coursera, or other platforms) demonstrates you had dedicated time to learning a particular subject and have at least some baseline of knowledge. This, combined with relevant work experience, degrees, other certificates, adds to that evidence that a hiring manager looks for to be more confident in you as a prospective hire.

    This seems like a paid ad. I have been using Avail for about 4 years. I consistently have issues with them. SOme of their product works fine. The biggest issue is are twofold: 1) Their customer service is extremely lacking. They have no phone number you can call and you get zero real time help. Their chat feature is completely useless. It is an AI that makes me believe that our war with the machine overlords will be over in 10 minutes because the AI is so dumb. When you email about a problem, it takes 24 hours for them to get back to you. Often that creates issues when someone is having a problem in real time and you can't help them. 2) This product lacks a huge amount of features. You have to email Avail to get them to do things, but again you can't discuss anything in real time and that is frustrating. I can't even go over all the features it lacks, but I have an issue almost every time I go through the process of listing or screening a tenant. Avail is the best out there??? I sure hope not, because I am an unhappy user of Avail.

    I am a 20 + year educator and I’ve been looking at this degree. In my state I would have to get 2 more degrees just to become a principal (I am currently an assistant principal). I would like to spend the next 20 years of my career in executive director roles of independent/charter schools. I met with the dean of the program I am interested in and he stated that the Masters degree in education is the most popular (as in many people have them). But the leaders of most organizations are MBA’s. That statement sealed my decision. Thx for all of the info brother!

    No Wikipedia. Textbooks are from OpenStax and other university resources, peer-reviewed, open-licensed, and 100% free. Research materials are from JSTOR, ProQuest, EBooks Central, and Gale, accessible through university's online library on Moodle LMS. Submissions must be in academic APA format with citations and references. Weekly assignments, discussion forums (peer-reviewed and discussed by classmates with instructor oversight), and learning journals (graded and reviewed by instructor, often a PhD professor). Graded quizzes on Week 3 and 6, and Finals on Week 9. So, you really cannot cram. Instead, you learn to take a few hours weekly to study the learning materials for the week and do your weekly discussion forum, weekly assignment, and learning journal. If there is something you want to clarify, you can private message your instructor or you can ask and get answered in the course forum. So, it is strange that while you do not meet your professor and classmates in person, you get to know them all because you have a lot of discussions in the discussion form which is done weekly. It is amazing to be able to share with classmates all over the world. But the most impactful for me was reading and commenting on work submitted by female classmates in Afghanistan who are able to continue their studies despite their country's policy discouraging women's education.

    • @RichardWalls
      @RichardWalls Před 16 dny

      Thanks for the comment! It matters somewhat. I've always been of the position that there are more MBA degree holders than ever before. If you have one, then you're one of many. How do you differentiate yourself? Work experience, of course, is the main differentiator. But as it relates to the degree itself, getting a degree from a Top 10 school can be a differentiator. Another one is the specialization you decide to pursue that can give you a slight advantage in the job search and in interviews if the specialization matches your career interests. Data analytics (if offered by the MBA program) is one I recommend the most as it is widely applicable in almost any field.

    I graduated with a bachelors degree in economics a year ago, and have been in my job search for over a year now. I have had three jobs since, 2 outside of my target industry and 1 in it (which I was fired from 10 days after being hired). None were in retail, restaurants or other non-9-5 type roles. In Jan Feb of this year I was deep in the grad school application grind about to start my GMAT studying, then I realized how over-expensive, stressful and time consuming an MBA would be. I decided to scrap the idea and go fully into a job search mode. I started mass applying, networking and even started a certificate, at a fraction of the price of the MBA, that is geared toward the industry I want to get into and the type of job I want to secure. I've had a few interviews with my target companies in the last few months and I have another tomorrow. All this to say that an MBA isn't an end all be all, take some time to try something different (many courses out there at a fraction of the cost that can help) that can get you the job you like. At the end of the day an MBA is only part of your application. You need to be likeable and be good at communicating your ability to do a role. You don't want to get an MBA and end up being overqualified for a number of roles and then have to take it off your resume, at that point what was the point of doing it? A resume gets you an interview, not a job. The interview is what gets you the role, so it really should be the main focus. Hope this helps.

      At minimum, it shows that you have the drive to learn and grow. That, in and of itself, is a very positive signal. For that learning to culminate in earning an MBA is sometimes the "proof" you need to show to advance to the next level. Best of luck!

    I am disappointed with the University of The People. The peer assessment system gives unfair grades, because other students are not competent. Instructors (lecturers) who act as they please, answer questions very slowly (days before they are answered), are inhumane (late assignments due to illness or accidents are not accepted), and so on. The University of The People is also not accepted globally, very many universities do not accept diplomas from the University of The People. You have to repeat many courses if you want to continue at another university. Materials that cannot be accessed, if you contact your instructor, someone takes a long time to answer, you have to wait 3 to 5 days, there are instructors who don't answer, there are instructors who are confused because the material was not prepared by them themselves, and various other problems.

  • @BambangPrayitno-n1o
    @BambangPrayitno-n1o Před 24 dny

    I have almost finished my education at the University of The People. Overall I am disappointed and regret having studied at UoPeople. However, I have wasted a lot of time and now I can try to complete my education at UoPeople. The most profitable thing about UoPeople is that activities at UoPeople are carried out via the internet. I experienced more bad things while studying at UoPeople. Instructors (lecturers) at UoPeople are not all responsible properly. I have often contacted instructors to ask about assignments or textbook material that cannot be accessed. The instructor answered me slowly, I had to wait more than 3 days. Even though the deadline for the assignment is 7 days. That means I lost almost half my time waiting for the instructor's answer. The rules at the University of the People are also inhumane, you are prohibited from getting sick or experiencing natural disasters! I once experienced illness so that I had to take complete rest and it was impossible to study, the instructor at the University of the People didn't care about this when I told them I was late in my assignment. The answer from the instructor was that according to the rules of the University of The People there should be no late for the submission. I also experienced a natural disaster in the form of a flood, the internet and electricity network around my house was cut off. The University of The People instructors didn't care about what I was going through. I still can't be late in completing my assignments. Finally I was forced to "Withdraw" or "Cancel Course" because of missing many grades. University of The People also provides an assessment method where your assignments are assessed by other students (peer assessment). Meanwhile, not all students are competent to provide assessments. As a result, other students give unfair grades to your assignments. Most of the study materials at the University of the People are no longer up to date (using old materials). I compare it with the needs at my job. Almost nothing is useful for my work. Often I come across material that is inaccessible. Even though the class system (courses) that use this e-learning system are used repeatedly and continuously. Every material provided should always be checked to see whether it can still be accessed or not. When I asked this to the instructor (lecturer) at the University of The People I had to wait for days. Once I waited up to 5 days before receiving an answer. Even though the completion period for my assignment is only 7 days, I only have 2 days left to complete my assignment. University of The People does not promise free education, only certain fees are free. You still have to pay registration, exam and graduation fees. Please decide wisely. Don't waste your time and be disappointed.

    If there is a review about a university and the review only reports on the benefits. It could be that the review is fake, made only for the sake of promoting the university.
