I decided to get an archtop. Epiphone came out with this limited edition Emperor Swingster, pearl finish, gold hardware and the Chet Atkins curved whammy bar instead of the usual Bigsby lolly stick. Its a great guitar.

We have a short tailed field vole in a new compost bin, so I fed it a bird table fat/seed ball and filmed it with a camera trap.

Top man sadly mist ❤😊❤😊R.I.P Xxx
"Why do the farmers put the gates where the mud is!" - i'll second that LOL.
An online smoking shop now sells a Jack Hargreaves tribute pipe, a Falcon, like his - I have one, and very good it is too.
Jack had a streak of genius about him. He’s amazingly far seeing in this bit of film. I thank goodness that he doesn’t have to view things as they are now.
Never mind the Internal Combustion engine for the demise in life, i am glad he was gone before social media and all the crap that goes with it!
His remarks about the sudden demise of heavy horses on farms was the same here. A whole generation coming back from the war was responsible for the almost overnight genocide of the working heavy horse industry. I have draft horse periodical clippings and books from the period and they show the alarming statistics of freefall decline in numbers. Those few who hung onto horses were ridiculed to some extent and the pressure to abandon their horses from all quarters was intense. Farming is often a dull difficult and lonely occupation, which almost nobody appreciates, and fewer still feel is worth rewarding monetarily, they begrudge him the little money he makes, and vent their frustration at the way he holds up modern traffic driving through his neighbourhood. For me working the horses is really the only reason why I keep going, it gives me sanity and a sense of purpose.
Old Jack. A dear man.
Im getting one of those hats Super guy was jack hargreaves6
Ask country people about the countryside. Even today, the politicians still don't.
Very prophetic words with regard to the geeen issue. Waycahead of gis time.
You can't talk and smoke a pipe at the same time jack
An amazing and very wise man...thank you.
I wonder what Jack would make of Chris Packham.
“They built the biggest caravan park near our farm, and you had to lock the gate on Friday night and open it in Monday morning.” Well said Jack. These days you would be getting cancelled and vilified on a weekly basis, so I am glad you haven’t had to witness it all (even though we miss you).
Where is his house?
He grew up in central London, at some point he got work on TV and decided to create a persona that he was born and bread in the country - he researched well and made a good living
What a sad and dreadful story about the shire horses, so sad 💔
Birdsong!! 😊
Ditto my comment in part 1
Is the gorgeous almost dawn chorus overdubbbed or live? Either way we'd struggle to hear such divine melody in 2024
remade today, "jack, how has your country village changed since you moved here?" "well the muslim call to prayer from the local minaret wakes me up every morning and the village shop isnt allowed to sell bacon or booze any more cos they're haram under english law"
im in tears because you just dont get those kind of people anymore reminds me of my grandad rip
Grew up watching Jack presenting Out of Town loved watching it back then as i do now .
He was born near me Palmers Green London I live in Muswell Hill
Jack comes across more jocular than I'd expected, perhaps trying to ease the overly serious and slightly condescending interviewer. What I wouldn't give to spend a day in that shed though! Preferably with the old bloke explaining his treasure and artefacts.
A brilliant man, but such stupid questions.
Very prophetic with regard to the combustion engine, and also the big dairy farms with 1000s of cows forcing out the smaller farmers .He must be turning in his grave regards farmers planting wild bird mixtures and politicians doing deals to import cheap food to get inflation down.
Thanks for posting this video...
a giant yankee walmart !.....WELL COME TO WALMART !
If only we still had displays bonfires n burger vans
I live on the edge of a river valley and see all kinds of displays round the berg. The local hotels have them for weddings never mind Nov 5th.
You certainly have the right voice for it. I'd work on it as he was brilliant!
I went to uni in S Wales, also spent time with those valleys Baptist churches, conferences and all. Its a long story, Im actually from Somerset and normally talk like something out The Wurzels. Addy's ex was the image of Shadwell too and from more or less the same area I was in.
My big failing on that is that with my reading glasses on to do Shadwell, I couldnt see my own script Id written. That's why I keep looking down.
Siadwell...... Get out.
Quite simply a wonderful person.. the internal combustion engine and also the smartphone and social media sometime after his death. He seemed to have his priorities set right even before the days of influences. I cannot imagine there will be another person such as himself.
Legend ❤
How right he was
Typical ignorant interviewer brushed aside by a knowledgeable Jack Hargreaves.
Best thing Jack has ever said is that we need to stop England becoming like Surrey, superb and so true and battle we need to keep fighting!
The interviewer is a bit too pushy and probably isn’t listening to the answers. When you have someone of Jacks status and quality surely you want to ask an interesting question and then let the great man talk at length.
A man away ahead of his time , and a TRUE GREEN ....not a pink haired tree hugging hippy. !!!
Absolutely
It’s a shame they couldn’t have a got a nice a person as Jack to do the interview ..Jack Hargreaves’s definitely one of the greatest ever living Englishmen
He is dead.
Always with his Falcon pipe. Brilliant.
I could listen to Jack all day. RIP Mr Hargreaves you made the world a better place
They all want to move to the country and turn it into the very ugly thing they were running from.
I've loved watching some of these old programmes from the 70s.
How was Jack so at ease in front of the camera? He didn't start at 50, he was in radio before the war and although he was commissioned into the Tank Regiment, the army made use of him to set up Forces Radio.
A great man, with great ideas ..... And look where we are today - the whole "Green Agenda" hijacked by corporates and energy prices through the roof!
I can listen to Jack for days
happy days...
Realism that was his charm, presenters today constantly smiling and laughing at absolutely nothing drives me crazy, Jack was a treasure sadly missed even now
Well said.
8:25 Tobacco disappears from a pipe
Jack Hargreaves did for the countryside and country thinking, what Fred Dibnah did for engineering. We are now a lot poorer that these marvellous men have now left us.
