舞台は滋賀県。力のある大男が大勢いたが、男たちはあばれた馬を取り押さえることも出来ないでいると、そこへ、琵琶湖に洗い物を取りに来た娘が、何と、苦労することなく馬のたづなを下駄で踏んで、いとも簡単に暴れ馬を取り押さえる、という馬鹿力の娘が主人公です。舞台の終盤では晒をふり、リズミカルに踊る、明朗な作品です。

こんにちは 西川せんすいです。 この踊りは、「きょうがのこむすめどうじょうじ」です。 928年、修行僧の安珍が和歌山県で清姫と出会い、一度は恋仲に。 修行を終えたら再会すると約束したものの、修行中である安珍は、女性は禁物である。 約束を破られた清姫は、60キロ以上走って追いかけて、道成寺までたどり着く。 追っているうちに、大蛇に化した清姫は、鐘の中に隠れた安珍を鐘ごと焼き殺したという伝説。 道成寺には、釣鐘のない寺になりました。 この伝説を、歌舞伎舞踊にしたものである。 私の裏話 急性虫垂炎により、緊急入院、全身麻酔の手術。 一生に1回踊るかどうかの道成寺、それも一生に1回あるかないかの盲腸手術！ なんというタイミング！悲劇のような喜劇のような・・・。 手術後5日目、点滴スタンドにつかまってやっと歩ける状態。 院長に「命の保証はしない」と言われながらも、何とか踊りきりました。
